Oh, you think iTV hasn't copyrighted their name? It's a 50 year old broadcasting network. They would put so much litigation up Apple's asses that they could taste the ink in their throats.

It's not so much that it's an idiotic name - http://www.itv.com/.

When has a trademark issue stopped Apple? The iPhone name belonged to Cisco and Apple had no rights agreement to use the name when they announced it. And of course the Apple name itself was litigated several times over the years by the original owner Apple Records.

iOS 4

I believe the event will be better than WWDC!! There is going to be more than one product being demoed. I agree that Apple will roll out the new iPod Touch and Apple TV (iTV). Now there is a possibility of a refresh of MacBook Air and I believe Apple is going to update iTunes.

One thing I think has not been mentioned in the threads is iOS 4 for iPad and the debut of Game Center for iOS 4. They said fall, and I think this is when it will happen.

Something I would like to see, however, is Facetime for Mac. Which would allow iMacs and MacBooks with an iSight camera to take advantage of Facetime. I would not be surprised if Apple did that to expand the number of users. Who knows, iChat could become Facetime!!!

Oh My God There Is A Hole!!!!!

It is amusing to see the blogs, forums, websites that are generating page after page of text, pictures, hate mail, nasty grams, love poems, longing, speculation, wondering, and, well you know what I mean. All over a simple round space in photo of parts purported to be for the up coming iPod Touch 4G. Steve Jobs and his marketing team must be looking at each other and smiling all of the way to the bank, while the stock holders of Apple are kissing earth in front of Steve Jobs thanking him for the dividends.

Yes I am looking forward to the Touch 4G, and yes I hope is has at least one camera, and the retinal screen, etc, etc, etc, :)

Sure, they have been known to ignore it to certain extents, but I don't think they could pull this one off, and I don't think they should try either.

Using the name of a well known, well established media network in a product is not a semantic debate, like the Apple Records vs Apple Computers thing.

I only really care if the iTouch will be 128GB or not. Its technically feasible with the Samsung 64GB chip coming out recently, but its still a bit expensive for dual 64's as opposed to the current iPod Touch's dual 32GB chips. Apple will probably want to keep the iTouch at that $399 price point., They don't want a $500 iPod and 128GB of memory might make it too expensive for this year. Same reason the iPhone 4 stayed at 32GB.

I can't see Apple getting permission to use the name in the UK, it's too established for them to use it on a TV box.

If the TV rental rumours are true it might end up being an exclusive to the USA product anyway so I suppose they might get away with using the iTV name for their home market.

I know this is MacRumors and we're theoretically all here to see new Apple rumors, but I wish they didn't send out parts like this. I'd love it a lot more if it was just showed on September 7th and I was totally wowed.

I'm expecting:
New MacBook Pros
Others have already said that this is highly unlikely but I just wanted to throw an extra piece of insight in there. The Macbook Pros were just updated in April, and what exactly has changed in laptop computer technology since April? Nothing. Apple will wait for Sandy Bridge to become mainstream until they release new MBP's.

I wonder what the odds of the iPod Touch getting an 3G modem like the iPad???

So this will just add another option to iTunes?

  1. .99 SD Rental
  2. 1.99 HD Rental
  3. 1.99 SD Purchase
  4. 2.99 HD Purchase

You can tell NBC is not on board for whatever this transition is because they are selling a Season Pass for the 2010-11 Season already for the Office.

The more I read this the more I think it will be an add-on and won't change the existing model. You can still purchase the shows, but now you will have the option to just rent it, similar to iTunes Movies.

Am I the only one who need and want a 128+ Gb iPod Touch?

I do like memory chip, but I would go better with a 250Gb HD iPod Touch to replace the iPod Classic.

I don't need another iPhone 4 without 3G network... I need an iPOD!

I'd look to something like that new Chinese wrapper device mentioned last week(s). You dock the iPod Touch inside of it, ending up with something that feels like a little bigger iPod Touch. However, the new piece has the 3G functionality in it. I don't know if that particular one will go mainstream or not, but it is proof of concept, and I would expect the ripoff versions to quickly follow. As I understand it, it would give us unlocked 3G- use whichever carrier we want.

When iPad hit, I looked at it's use-it-when-you-need-it, unlimited 3G option (remember that?), and thought how great it would be for that to end up in the next-gen iPod Touch. But that lasted- what- 30-45 days before that terrific 3G services option was killed.

Now I find myself hoping that 7" iPad rumor is true, and that we get a 7" iPad with 3G (but no contract). That seems like a good balance for those that need some kind of 3G communications some of the time (but a contract doesn't make sense), don't want to carry an added device like MiFi, and don't want to carry an iPod, iPad and laptop on the road. In my thinking, that 7" could become the iPod+iPad+occasional phone via VOIP device for the infrequent flyer. That plus a laptop could be a hot combo for the occasional traveler.

i'm pumped for the iTV, it's going to save me well over $50 a month, once i kick comcast's butt to the curb. the .99 cent rental fee is a little high, but still nothing compared to $85 a month for 100's of channels and shows that i never watch.

Looking forward to iTunes X (10)
I hope they bring back the recording support
I miss SoundJamMP;)
I wonder what other new features it will have?

I want to rent MUSIC from the iTunes Store!

Agreed. Even the September event is usually focused on iPods, I'd love to see a new version of both iLife and iWork rolled out.

Agree. iPhoto is looking pretty tired these days and a refresh with some new features (that aren't free in Picassa) is well overdue.

I'm interested to see how far they go with the itv. Apps on the Telly? Think about it - netflix on apple tv, hulu, and the rest. It will be interesting to see how far they let the channels go with apps as well, they could very much offer a streaming catchup service themselves instead of depending on the big guns like hulu. Example - for a set amount per month you can catch up with true blood' dexter and whatever thanks to the hbo app.

Also, if it's got a receiver iike the current apple tv, how about using your iPod touch or iPhone as a controller and being able to play games on your itv???
