Can someone remind me if the AW music app allowed you full access to your iTunes Match library prior to 4.0 or could you only control the music you downloaded onto the iPhone itself? (Locally stored.)

Before WatchOS4, you could access and control your entire music collection on your phone from your watch but not cloud based music

Okay thank you. Honestly that makes the 4.0 update a little easier for me to swallow because I never download music onto my iPhone anymore. I only stream from iTunes Match.

Yes I stand corrected. What I meant was that you have to have iCloud music enabled on your phone to browse it from your watch
I am not about to delete all the music on my phone just to have to stream or download again when I am on a limited data plan and this functionality worked perfectly before

Not hard to add a condition that no icloud = use phone library

Besides, doesn't this only work on each series 3?

Thank you tcellguy and QuarterSwede for your assistance in clearing up how exactly iTunes Match works on the GPS S3. I sold my S1 and my S3 GPS arrived yesterday. Updated to 4.1 and praise Jesus, my entire iTunes Match library is now available to me on my wrist. My Jaybird X3's are connected to both my AW and iPhone.

It's ridiculous that I had to buy a new Watch to get this feature back. I hope for all you S0-S2's out there that this will eventually come back in an OS update. But my gut says it won't be anytime soon. Perhaps OS 5.

Yes it's gonna changed your life, I've got every AW since S0, series 3 with GPS+cellular is so much better then series 2, the freedom without the iPhone in runs makes me feels so good and fun out there

Hi guys on this thread can I just clarify something....will the series 3 GPS ONLY NOT LTE enable you when the phone is near the watch to access your full apple music library to select your playlists / albums/artists etc from AM via your watch (using the iphones wifi and or 4g signal) I am reading so much conflicting info has some one got the GPS only version and tested this? AND does it all work with siri via airpods again using the phones 4g NOT a cellular watch 3.

With non LTE S3 you can access your full library via streaming and your synced albums while offline. The synced albums appear in a carousel view, the albums to be streamed need to be accessed by entering first Library, and then either selecting albums, songs or authors you may have access to your full Apple Music Library without the need to use the iPhone.
