Unpopular opinion: every year that goes by I care less and less for these Apple Events. Just put out a press release.

Steve was a genius because he got us dummies to watch a two hour long infomercial. But he had such a way of selling it like the product or feature was the way the thing was meant to be, in some kind of cosmic way.

Everyone in these keynotes are robotic and boring; that’s probably why everyone gets excited when Craig is in the picture.

Do we really need an event for this? Yes, because people will watch it and cut it up as clips, but I think it is past its prime.

I usually just watch wwdc to see what’s coming, but this time I set aside $6,000. I really hope they don’t disappoint as I literally have an empty desk. I sold it all in anticipation of this event updating its MBP, and ‘maybe’ giving us the 30” iMac. If so, I’ll take both. I won’t go 27, so I hope they made the right decision to upsize.

I can’t imagine they’ll make us wait until Fall and dip into the iPhone 13’s realm.
Yes, Apple will want to space out the big purchases. I’m not getting a new iPhone this year anyway, but I’d be a lot less likely to upgrade if I’m also shelling out $6k for a laptop in the same month…

Excited for Spatial Audio and hoping for a new iPod Touch with a decent battery please. I prefer a dedicated device.

The MR membership analysis will be much more entertaining; my keen insight not withstanding. :p

Unless they license the Atmos tools from Dolby and add them to Logic Pro I'm not really interested as a creator about information concerning Dolby Atmos as the cost to use it for Music production is quite steep just on the software side, never mind setting up the studio for 7.1.4 monitoring.

Your link is to the requirements for Spatial Audio in video.

This is about Apple Music.

I think you got it mixed up. Which is fair, because Apple didn't actually include this on the apple music page as Spatial Audio, just 'Dolby Atmos' support. The two terms seemed to be interchangeable in the presser. Are they the same thing or is Apple going to add something impressive to differentiate themselves from the others with Dolby Atmos (whether in Apple Music or their hardware)?

Spatial Audio is Dolby Atmos with Binaural automation.

It does watching a music video , last week I managed to try it brilliant you’ll love it

Spatial audio also works in Mac Os for music videos (is already active for a selected few), so headtracking is not mandatory

Honestly, music app is beyond buggy on the Mac, hopefully there is a serious release of ew software to go along with it.

Is an embarrassment, for sure, particularly coming from Apple.

Apple Music needs a drastic change in the app. I love the clean and stylish design but finding songs and the speed of the app are disappointing. In addition to iOS 15, I look forward to seeing a new, better Apple Music 🎧
As with the change in the podcast app....I would just as well they leave it alone. It worked well enough and their idea of improvement is suspect.

Is this weird to anyone else? A special event just about lossless audio playback... that none of their devices support? I have a gut feeling they're going to show an iPod touch, which would be awesome imo. I won't buy one, but it's nostalgic since my first Apple product was a 2nd gen iPod touch.
This isn’t a special event about lossless audio. Spatial Audio does not need to be lossless.

What I find interesting on this is the time of the event. Two hours after the start of wwdc keynote. In years passed, keynote has always been a long event and no real set end time. This year, it means they have everything timed out if another event is scheduled to begin two hours after it’s start. Quite interesting.
It’s always timed out to the minute. Or close. That’s how often the slides have the expected actual time on them.

i just miss one thing for years. thats bookmarking!
when i close the music app and reopen it, i simply want to be at the place where i closed it.
example
if i am an on item #35 of a playlist i want to be on that item when i reopen music.

if i am on an artist xyz, i want to to be on that artist when restarting the app

etc. easy.
thats my one and only complain.

Apple Music has many issues. The one that upsets me most is the lack of depth they have in Folk, Bluegrass etc. Both Amazon and YouTube have much more depth in these genres

You don't even need headphones, let alone gyroscopes in them. It's supported by MacBook Pros and HomePods.
Like obviously tho cause they have A8 and MacBooks obviously have their own chips. I don’t think it’s a question of whether any of those devices will support it, rather which headphones will.

I also want to get rid of this MacBook 15’ with the Touch Bar haah

I clean mine every week with q-tips, a damp micro-fiber cloth, and a dab of alcohol. :p
I work in metal 3D printing, powder bed fusion with atomized metal and the ferrous materials are the worst for my AirPods Pro case.. Wish I could keep the AirPods themselves clean too!

In your environment, I would be reticent to use such classy equipment. I would fall back on third party, won't put a dent in the bank to replace ear pods.

I was at first. However, I was already using the original AirPods here and knew what I was getting into. I opted to preorder the Pros because the ANC is a godsend with all of the tinnitus-like humming of machinery. I have been using them in this environment for a year and since I opted for AppleCare on them it's not the end of the world if the vents get clogged etc. Just gotta keep the part in my ears clean.

Drastic? No lol. The only thing within Apple Music ecosystem that needs a drastic change is iTunes for Windows. And by drastic I mean they need to destroy iTunes for good.

Good point about AC+. I didn't think about that possibility. Definitely don't want tiny shavings getting inside your ear canal. My father has Tinnitus and it drive him crazy.
