Could it be the year large library owners can move from iTunes(Mac)?

A new iPod Touch... let it be the iPhone Mini, without the phone. Why else doing a special event. Lossless in the convenience era, how many can hear the difference. So, streaming has already reached maturity... battling for market share.

Sounds good. It will be good to get some 'from the horse's mouth' clarity on the spatial audio, lossless etc. situation. The drip-drip of news articles supposedly divulging what will and won't work with what hasn't been typically Apple.

It's also great that this topic is a separately billed event = more time for various other announcements & introductions from Apple during the main event keynote.

It would be great if Apple would do similar sessions for Photos (and Books, tv+, News+ et al) to give them all more room to breathe. They could say something like "here's a quick preview" during the keynote, "view this upcoming event for more detail" and have a consumer strand along with all of the developer-focussed events.
Usually the Platforms State of the Union breaks down all the new technologies and they mention when each item will be covered in a later, more specific session but it’s definitely developer oriented.

Unless they license the Atmos tools from Dolby and add them to Logic Pro I'm not really interested as a creator about information concerning Dolby Atmos as the cost to use it for Music production is quite steep just on the software side, never mind setting up the studio for 7.1.4 monitoring.

“The Dolby Atmos Production Suite easily integrates into several leading Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), including Logic Pro.”

Maybe that is what you’re looking for?

Edit: Never mind. I see what you’re saying, the software is an additional expense.

I just want a way to play Apple Music on Windows which doesnt use the current iTunes on Windows which is absolute trash.

Anyone who has used it knows what I’m talking about..

Update iTunes for Windows already ffs..

You cannot experience this presentation with the 90% of Apple hardware out there, I suppose.

So, according to Apple, 20 million of tracks will be available in lossless on launch, and the whole catalogue will be in maximum quality by the end of the year.

As for Atmos, tracks will be added "all the time", but no report has been given about how many tracks will be available in Atmos on release day.

You clearly don't understand the technology.

ANY HEADPHONE IN THE WORLD will support it. It's the devices we don't know about for sure.
I didn’t exactly claim to understand the “technology” that’s previously been offered exclusively on AirPods Pro and max, as it seems audio is just without headphone tracking. I don’t really understand where the rudeness is coming from either, but hey. 🤭 lmao

Also, we don’t know the devices? What, lol. It’s listed on the page.

All Apple Music subscribers using the latest version of Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV7 can listen to thousands of Dolby Atmos music tracks using any headphones. When you listen with compatible Apple or Beats headphones,8Dolby Atmos music plays back automatically when available for a song. For other headphones, go to Settings > Music > Audio and set Dolby Atmos to Always On. You can also hear Dolby Atmos music using the built‑in speakers on a compatible iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro or HomePod,9 or by connecting your Apple TV 4K to a compatible TV or audiovisual receiver.

Apple Music needs a drastic change in the app. I love the clean and stylish design but finding songs and the speed of the app are disappointing. In addition to iOS 15, I look forward to seeing a new, better Apple Music 🎧
Yeah, I switched to AM from Spotify the split second it came out but I gave up after hanging in there for 4+ years. Why, because my library kept disintegrating. You add an album, turn around for 3 secs and when you return it has begun splitting it across 5 different compilation albums.
- Oh but that’s because you had iCloud Music Match enabled in iTunes, just disable it!
- No I never did, and it’s off.
- Ok well then just go into every album and edit the metadata manually, that’ll stop it!
- Thanks but I only accept solutions, not workarounds. 4+ years with an unsolved showstopper bug is all the info I need, adios old buddy.

God I just wish for a robust and intuitive music file manager that isn’t all about minimalism and doesn’t try to force my hand towards streaming. Many of us have thousands of custom/private audio files not available in any streaming store.

And I’d wish for an optional centralized Apple-designed music/video/podcast/movie software like the old iTunes.

TV’s today are all about being an all-in-one entertainment source, for all the apps we need. Like the earlier versions of iTunes. One stop shopping. We don’t turn to the side and look at different TV’s for games, movies, broadcast tv, etc. Sure it was good to separate phone syncing/backups from iTunes. Too much thinking sometimes.

A fair amount of Atmos content exists already. It's been out on Blu Ray audio for a while now. Tidal and Amazon have also had Atmos content, but they charge a premium and bury it in truly bad user interfaces.

By including it with the regular music subscriptions, Apple is changing the game. It will be available to millions of listeners right away without requiring additional hardware or a premium subscription. That will drive interest among content creators, making it eventually a default like stereo is now.

The intringuing aspect for me is that Apple have said that Atmos for music will work with all the headphone. How?. No hardware requirements exist for this?. Their own H1 and W1 headphones will play it automatically, but if you go to settings and turn atmos manually on, it will work with every headphone.
