What can you already do with an iPod?:
-Listen to music
-Look at photographs
-Listen to audiobooks
-Read notes
-Look at calendars
-Store contacts
-Play simple games
-Set an alarm clock
-Store data
-Run applications installed on the iPod when connected with a computer
-Install OS's
What could be the next logical steps?
-Watch Videos on them directly or
-Store videos and plug them into a TV to watch
-Wireless downloading/streaming of music and/or videos
-built in stereo recording
-built in AM/FM tuner
What I would like to see or maybe think will happen:
-iPod Video: this will allow you to watch video on the iPod itself or through the dock/line out to a TV. you will use QT 7 to encode your own video to put on the iPod or
-iTunes 5: with a video downloads store. there will be lots of music videos at first and maybe some Pixar films to download to your computer and iPod
-the iPods and iPod Mini's will all have color screens for photo viewing
-the iPod videos/5G's will be bumped to 80 & 100GB's
-the iPod videos/5G's will have built in stereo recordin and am/fm tuners
-the iPod videos/5G's will allow (with a dock) DVR recording in a compressed format of television/cable/satellite/etc. that can be easily transferred to your computer
I'd also like to see maybe and iPod DJ/Pro and/or an iPod Tablet:
-the iPod DJ/Pro would be a longer version of the iPod with a widescreen in the middle and 2 click wheels surrounding it. It would allow for multiple songs playing/crossfading b/t these songs/etc. so that one iPod could be used to do some digital dj'ing.
-the iPod Tablet would be touchscreen, run a stripped down version of tiger, and allow for you to use it as a video player, music player, photo viewer, document reader/editor (in general a PocketMac)
What they will likely come out with is an iPod Nano. This will be surgically implanted in your skull and will store as much music, photos, videos, documents, contacts, etc. as your brain can handle. Just think it and you will hear, see, know what's there. With wireless capabilities built in you can download from iTunes anytime you catch a signal. You may get headaches though if you try to add a WMA audio track
