Apple Music Event Sept. 7

I posted this a couple of weeks ago, it's looking like there may be some truth to it now ;)

Hey,
I know the connection is pretty flakey, but I heard from a friend of an iTMS employee that iTMS Australia is going to be opened on, or around, September 7th and that there would be a new version of iTunes (which I assume would be iTunes 5.0, due to the fact that there are supposedly going to be new file formats added) released around the same time.

Also, there are, apparently, no plans to open a New Zealand iTMS

So... is there anyone out there who can back this up?

Looking at the list iTunes 5 would be my choice. I won't expect anything in particular that way Apple can't disappoint me. Come on Apple surprise me.

(dare I go as far as OLED...I wish)
Have they solved the problem of OLED displays having a very short life unless used only briefly? I read that something used for hours at a time, like a laptop or movie player, would give only about a 1 year life to an OLED display before it got really dim and discolored. Too bad--I hope they have (or will) make them longer lasting. If they look and work great at first and then die under heavy use, then they may remain useful only for phones and cameras.

It'll be the 'Mighty iPod'.

Like the current one but with squeezable sides and g-spot training tool. Get it right and it sings. :D

Actually the idea of the iPod maxi, like the Epson P-2000, would be a big seller among the photographer among us. Epson still has yet to catch up with the demand for the P-2000.

I'd share the rent if they brought back the alarm clock.

Obviously the most revolutionary and biggest possible announcement would be the addition of folders to iTunes.

I would rent out Moscone Center just to tell the world about it...

The next evolutionary step is iPod shoes, to protect your sock investment.

In real life, Toshiba have the perpendicular drives in actual volume production after some delays. 40 GB drives are now a single platter and the thicker model is promoted to 80 GB.

The PP5022 is in the mini now, but not the white iPod yet. Major changes are more speed (200 vs. 160 MIPS), video in, more internal RAM (128 vs. 96 MB), much lower power draw.

I have it from a source that Apple will be releasing jeans with 1000 pockets. Each pocket holds 1000 songs, so 1000000 songs in your iJeans.

Crap, what in the world would anyone do with 1000 pockets? I mean seriously, I can fill up about five on any given day but 1000? Apple's crazy, the iJeans will never sell. :p

Darnit--I was gonna buy new jeans tomorrow. I guess I'll wait the week -- these new jeans better kick some A$$
New Apple marketing slogan: There's an iParty in your iPants.

Possibilities:

iTunes Phone - will Jobs be there? Possibly video iPods with "one more thing..."?

iPod Video - my bet, and I think it's not going to be a regular iPod format. "1000 songs in your pocket. Now...1000 movies in your pocket." (Okay, not quite that, but you get the drift). Perhaps a larger body or different control layout, with included dockconnector-to-component/RCA cable?

iTunes 5 - did someone say new formats??? I'm starting to regret using AAC for all my recent rips - I may as well have ripped them as WMA. Can't do anything else with them. Please play/rip OGGs. Please.

And if the corresponding firmware upgrade for the iPod allows for gapless playback, well, we're talking paradigm shift here.

looks like its going to be a good end of the year, Apple better get whatever its coming out with out there before christmas, my prediction is a large capacity ipod shuffle, but hey, its going to be a wacky tuesday so I'm not sure, I just bought a cell phone and I'd only change it if it was under 200 dollars and I dont see it being likely... so... bring it on apple, HD ipod now!

If Apple comes out with high-capacity (~20GB, Hitachi perpendicular recording) iPod minis with color screen, I'm selling my old 3rd gen, 10GB iPod.

If they come out with a 200GB iPod, I'm not touching it. Unless it plays MPEG-4 videos (portable video library). I do hope there's built-in outputs (S-Video, 1/8" stereo audio) and doesn't require you to carry around a stupid cable.

iTunes 5 that supports a new format? It'd be nice if it supported OGG (watch out for the new rave reviews by slashdotters if it does), but OGG is as "underground" as Linux at the moment. WMA support? With DRM? Why would Apple do that? WMA needs to die, not gain support. :(

Maybe it's just iJeans with built-in flash memory with a 1/8" stereo jack... Pants that play music and sync with iTunes.

Hmmm, iPod maxi. An iPod you shove up your hu-hu (that, by the way, plays 1,000 songs). In your pocket, indeed.

I still don't care too much about iPods, but I suppose
many would like to see an iPod iPhone.

I would rather see PROBAND and an Apple quality
A/D interface.

I think the 1000 songs thing... is just the introduction of Apple iPod mini 4GB (in Samsung 4GB flash memory). More space for a bigger battery so they can put a 1.7" 65k LCD.

If Samsung's agreement with Apple extends to an iTunes phone, that would be more interesting. 4GB motorola phone whose theme is Tiger's aqua interface; EDGE/GSM (no CDMA pls); 2.2" screen; tight integration with iTunes, iPhoto, iCal and .Mac.

I will get one pls. But am I dreaming?

its not the Moto phone or tablet,..it is a "music" event.

Apple will announce that TheBeatles have stopped suing them.

I don't know if this is the Beatles or not, but I always figured the Apple/Apple big enchilada settlement would include the Beatles catalog on iTunes. Would make a very nice "one more thing" to go with whatever else in announced.

I'm going for the longshot and hoping that Apple will be announcing the Motorola iTunes line of phones -- and Apple as a micro-carrier. Apple vs. Cingular/Verizon Wireless/Spring would be gi-freakin'-normous.

Well, the last big music event featured U2... So maybe Paul McCartneys head might bob out?

Subscription services anyone? I'd be tempted - imagine if you could pay £10 a month and fill up on 1000's of tracks? Hmmmmmmmm.... You'd be guaranteed against hard disk failure, but it wouldn't really be yours.....

I'd love if they made a Subscription Service for iTunes! I know Steve has said countless times that they prefer you buy it and it's yours but A Subcription Service would be a Great Idea. I'd gladly pay $10-$20 a Month for Unlimited iTunes Tracks.

While not truly revolutionary, that would be a great extension for those who want it. Choice is good Steve!
