I was the target of racism. As a White, I went to an 80+% black Jr High School. I routinely had my head bashed walking down the hall when there were no other Whites around. I was threatened routinely. My grades were reduced to match the class. My best friend was Mexican and my second best friend was black. I was asked to give up a wrestling match because blacks in the stands, there were no Whites, threatened to riot if I won. I survived by treating people with respect and having minority friends stand up for me. But there were still bad actors that did not care. In my late twenties, I went back to my grade school to play basketball with the company team where I worked. I was the only White in the gym. Yep it was subtle, but still there. So I definitely know.

I have definitely seen improvements and it is only because of the friends that stood up for me that I am not racist and because I was taught to treat people how I wanted to be treated, not how I was treated.
Thanks for sharing your experience, man. I really appreciate that and I know it's not easy to dig up. It's through shared experiences that we better understand other people's perspectives. And we need to listen honestly and accept that there are a lot of views we just don't know first hand. Thanks for shedding some light.

Blacks can be just a racist and that is what we have here. No proof that racism is involved, but lets jump to conclusion and make the media, corporations and politicians some more money. As long as we have this race baiting for profits and votes racism will never end.
People are human — we all have the same strengths and weaknesses — this issue is power. How some have power over others and how do they use it. The kids in your school used theirs over you. This is how many Black people feel with the police. Much like how I'm sure many of the kids were probably good but because of group-think, they acted out as the worst of them. The cops — white, black, brown, asian, whatever... they reinforce that power and it needs to be stoped.

Not sure what you are referring to in terms of power. Cops should have more power over you. You need to obey their commands. If they want your hands up, are you going to argue their power over you? I am not trying to pose this as an argument. Just want clarification as what you mean by power.

It's about disruption so it did, in fact, help as it sparked a lot of discussions both in these pages and in many others across the web today.

The service you paid for is still completely functional — you can stream all the music you want, search for anything you want, share anything you want and you can even use Siri to initiate it. All you cannot to — for one day — is leverage to "browse" feature or Beats1 feature. So of the 5 tabs of the service, you are still able to utilize 3/5ths of the service for one day...

Huh, 3/5ths... for one day? I have heard of worse deals.

"Sparking" discussions is such a lazy buzzword. The country was 100% unified in its outrage over the Floyd killing, but then the rioting, beating women and the elderly, and burning down small minority owned businesses started and we are divided again. I don't need anyone else "disrupting" me at the moment.

Only thing you're doing at this moment is getting more people to tune out what you have to say.

I always listen to Apple Music via the Radio function - I create a "station" based on the artists I like and spend weeks/months using the like / dislike feature to craft stations to different moods I am in whether it be reading, studying, exercising, etc.
You can still do that by asking Siri, searching for the artist or song, long-pressing it and selecting "create a station", or if you have saved any stations in your library, they are available to you.

All that functionality didn't go away — just the hub pages.

I'd just like to add that I can't get to any of that music I usually listen to. Not going to kill me, but it's what brought me here to this thread today. :)
That's weird as I have had no issues myself... I've been listening all day.

Also like to add that I've found your posts very informative and have enjoyed reading/learning.
Thanks, I appreciate that. This is kind of the point of this whole thing — start a dialogue, talk to people, and get a different perspective on something that is just not going away. We don't gain unity by ignoring our differences — be they experiences, perspectives, cultures or differences of opinions — we gain unity by embracing them and their uniqueness. We are not all the same and we shouldn't aim to BE all the same. What we should aim for is the understanding that we can be different but equal in all the things we want to be. I don't need to be like you (just as a for instance) to be equal to you and vice-versa. We are all capable of good acts and bad ones, good thoughts and bad ones, mistakes and redemption. That's why it is important to put yourself someone's shoes before you assume who they are.

Well... I should have talked to you earlier!

Thanks again :). --- Agreed on the last paragraph.

You know I keep seeing people talking about the looting and demonstrations.
Let's be clear Covid-19 has created the right situation for bad actors.
If you were wearing a mask at a demonstration or in public, we knew you were up to no good and could tag you as a troublemaker, etc.
Now we are encouraged to wear masks in public and it becomes impossible to discern the bad from the good.
So the bad actors have figured out that wearing a mask allows them to integrate and infiltrate legitimate, peaceful demonstrations and not be tagged as a troublemaker while wearing a mask.
So lets all be aware that the people doing this stuff have ill intentions and this is just an opportunity to act on those intentions. They don't care about equal rights. They care about anarchy and destruction.

Putting fuel in a massive fire is not helpful. The country is already suffering from looting and riots. Adding fuel to this by such a massive disruption in services is not helping.
You need to think about why that is a problem for you. You also have to remember that it was two generations ago where it was repealed, so if you think that is not buried deep in the midset of people on both sides you are sorely mistaken. Also, there are plenty of white people looting and rioting — what's their excuse?

Why this is a problem for me? I have addressed it dozens of times here. I am paying for a service that has been cut of the features I use for a day....for something I pay for. That is my problem with this. I would have ZERO issues if there was just a banner, but allowing all the features to be used.

I guess i just don't have a lot of energy to look for a word you would have found more appropriate.

The country was 100% unified in its outrage over the Floyd killing, but then the rioting, beating women and the elderly, and burning down small minority owned businesses started and we are divided again. I don't need anyone else "disrupting" me at the moment.
Then it is still unified since I sure have seen a lot of white people and police involved in "the rioting, beating women and the elderly, and burning down small minority owned businesses started". it is categorically false to assume it is just the protesters. It was MNPD who were shooting rubber bullets at the initial protesters from rooftops before any violence started. It got out of hand because of them. This is a documented fact.

Only thing you're doing at this moment is getting more people to tune out what you have to say.
Everyone is free to listen or not listen to whatever they want, truth is a hard pill to swallow. I have been open, honest and very candid about my own experiences in this forum. I have listened and reciprocated with others who have varyingly different views than I do and held a respectful dialogue with them. If that is not enough for people to soften their stance and be open to someone who is not like them then maybe they just aren't ready.

That's not on me though.

The features are all still there. You are choosing ignorance to make a point that is on a timer. The only thing you are not able to have it Beats 1. Everything else — EVERYTHING ELSE — is accessible. Hell, I have posted it multiple times.

That is for radio stations where I never mentioned I want to do that. How can I access my history? Or top rated/played songs? I don't just use Apple Music as not everything I listen to is offered there, so I still buy songs on iTunes. Where can I view top 10 songs by genre at the moment?

If I am able to please tell me. If I am not, then that is by definition limiting features.

I said that was for someone else and I copied and pasted — please read.

How can I access my history?
"For you" recently Played is still active.

Or top rated/played songs?
Ask Siri, she'll launch them. Search Top rated "genre" they are in there too.

You don't pay for iTunes access. That is a non-sequitur.

Ask Siri or search

If you are unhappy that Apple wanted to join in with its artists and cause disruption for dialogue at a pivotal social moment because of what breaks down to essentially 33 cents ($10 /30 days) then please be my guest but don't kid yourself in thinking you are doing so on some high road.

For You just sends me to a Listen Together notices about Black Lives Matter. I am not seeing my recently played here.

What about curated playlists? How do I access those?

I have just requested that Apple refund my membership fees for the month due to hijacking the service I pay for in order to broadcast political messages. I encourage everyone who is unhappy about this to go to the support page and do the same.

"I am unable to access my Apple Music due to Apple hijacking it to broadcast political messages. I demand a refund for this month's service. Apple can broadcast their propaganda on their own dime, not mine."

Black Lives Matter more than your ability to access a music recommendation algorithm for one day.

Bye.

There's your problem. You see the world in terms of black vs white. I said nothing about black people and white people. I talked about people everywhere who are outraged over the killing and want justice.

Supporting the violence, looting and arson is not a black vs white issue. There are many people of all colors on both sides, and the country is now deeply divided and not unified.

So what you're saying is you're trying to organize a protest for what you consider an injustice?

Will Apple also have "white lives matter" days?

https://www.theatlantic.com/health/...years-of-life-lost-to-police-violence/559835/ :

"Of the 1,146 and 1,092 victims of police violence in 2015 and 2016, respectively, the authors found that 52 percent were white, 26 percent were black, and 17 percent were Hispanic."

12% of the population is black, 62% is white. What you’re actually showing with those numbers is that blacks are the victims of police violence at more than double the rate of whites.

I don't understand how you think that's my fault. I don't see the world in terms of black vs white. Quite the opposite if you bothered actually ready any of my posts rather than misinterpreting them. I haven't supported any of the looting and violence — which is easy to do since much of it is being started by outside agents and police. Please feel free to quote me where I have made it a race issue beyond the poorly interpreted quote you added.

It's in mine — not sure what you are seeing. I used it like normal all day.

Again, in the search (scroll to the bottom), or if you know the name — Siri is your friend.

That's not correct. There are about the same number of blacks as whites arrested every year. The difference is when a white person gets arrested he is about twice as likely to be killed by a cop than a black person.

I do appreciate you helping me get back to how I use the app BTW, thank you.

I never use Siri, so how am I supposed to know how to get to these features?

See the attached image, where do I go here in the For You section?

this argument has been used and trounced already — since blacks are under 13% of the population the numbers are still heavily skewed in their favour (white Americans account for 72%). Feel free to do the math.
