I do appreciate you helping me get back to how I use the app BTW, thank you.

I never use Siri, so how am I supposed to know how to get to these features?

See the attached image, where do I go here in the For You section?View attachment 921071
I'll be honest — I'm not seeing that. I apologize, I was not intentionally misleading you about the "for You page". Mine is active.

12% of the population is black, 62% is white. What you’re actually showing with those numbers is that blacks are the victims of police violence at more than double the rate of whites.

They try to use numbers and not specify what the numbers mean.
By simply stating "White Lives Matter" we already know the fool was a troll.
When did white lives NOT matter is the question?
For 100+ years after slavery ended and we had Apartheid in America; it was legally okay to write into city charters banning the sale and rental of housing to Black people.
It was okay to deny equal opportunities in banking, housing, employment and education.
It was okay for the police to beat and abuse Black people with little or no punishment.
It was okay for white mobs to burn Black neighborhoods and kill Black citizens.
It was okay for the US to use Black people as candidates in human experiments without our consent and knowledge (Tuskegee Bad Blood Experiment).
It was okay to sterilize us without our consent.
It was fine for us to fight and die for our country in wars, but not to demand equality.
It was okay to turn dogs on us, to shoot us, to turn fire hoses on us when we demanded equality.
It was okay to militarize our neighborhoods to keep us "under control" when we demanded equality.
nazi Germany had nothing on the US Government when it came to mistreatment of people.
The US government just wasn't as blatant and sanitized the names.
We called the Native American Genocide, "The Trail of Tears".
We called concentration camps; "Japanese Internment Camps".
We called Apartheid; "Segregation", "Jim Crow" and "The Black Codes".
The "Eugenics Movement" may have become associated with Nazi's but America was doing it first.
We had no issue accepting nazi scientists after WWII because they were just like the rest of the racists in power.

People here need to wake up and stop trying to rationalize the institutionalized racism in America.
It is still systemic and pervasive.
You want an example?

Look at Alabama, they have monuments to confederate generals and soldiers.
The birthday of jefferson davis is a state holiday in Alabama.
When do we give traitors and separatists holidays?

The confederacy, it's flag and all that it stood for was and is racist.
An excerpt from the cornerstone speech by alexander stepehens - Vice President of the confederacy:

"Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth. This truth has been slow in the process of its development, like all other truths in the various departments of science."

It doesn't get any more racist than this.

I’m with you. I just wanted him to see that his numbers directly contradict the argument he’s trying to make. People usually build their racism upon a flimsy foundation of misconceptions. Castles made of sand.

Your understanding of math gives me a big sad. Very big sad. In order to understand this statistic you need to know the denominator and the numerator. All these proportion are not that useful - the raw numbers are useful. To the question of what proportion of police violence is against blacks you need to know not the population % you need to know the number of interactions with police by race, and preferably the interactions involving violent crimes where police are liable to use force. You can look at both to get a better idea and get some sense of robustness. Your population % would only be relevant if races did not differ by crime rate or violent crime rate. But as published for many years they do in fact differ so the population numbers tell us nothing. They make good rhetoric and thats what the internet is for; not thinking through tough problems.

That Nazi thing is pretty hilarious. It just marks you as profoundly indoctrinated into a set of ideas that are not amenable to correction by reality. Tight rhetoric though. I bet it sounds great over a loudspeaker right before you encourage people to go smash stuff.

Systematic racism is an academic concept that was invented to explain events that do not fit a set of assumptions which do not fit reality. The main assumption is all groups if unperturbed would have equal outcomes in all areas. Since that doesnt fit reality the theory was adapted to explain it away. However, since it doesn’t fit reality it is believable only to people who accept its other worldly assumptions- basically heavily indoctrinated ideologues. To explain the academic theory I will give an example. Blacks have higher rate of cardiac fatality. The reasons are complicated, but because of an underlying theory from ideologues if you don’t want to have to think about it you just say - its systematic racism.

This theory of outcomes is obviously untenable to people who observe data so you have to modify it until it becomes laughable to normal people who just work and live and don’t have nonsense running around in their heads. To give some examples...the NBA has systematic racism because proportionally it has more blacks than whites. Nationally Asian win more math competitions that anyone else. That would be systematic racism. Asians also live longest. Systematic racism. Blacks have the highest rates of out of wedlock births (although not that different than poor rural whites when the two populations are adjusted for socioeconomic standing) - must be systematic racism. Whites dominate tennis. Systemic racism. Women are more likely to be accepted into Ob/Gyn physician specialties - systematic sexism.

Now you are using the academic term but maybe you just mean life’s harder for blacks because everyone is against them. There is racism in America. When I lived in a certain part of a big city I had people threaten my kids and use racist words against them. People called my wife racist names and threaten to hurt her. People vandalized our car with racist words. I can accept there is racism but don’t think it is special to blacks in current America. Its part of the long standing norm of human interaction we all struggle to overcome. The evidence against it being special to blacks is pretty compelling but this is already too long and its straight dialectic and we all know the internet is the place for rhetoric and shouting each other down. We all know that.

That is correct.

There is about the same number of blacks and whites arrested every year, but there are twice as many whites killed by police.

There were 4 cops that restrained Floyd while he died. One white and three POC. The white cop has been arrested. The three POC (almost typed POS) cops have not been arrested yet but soon will be.

The white cop was arrested much faster than the black Somali immigrant cop that shot an innocent Justine Damond dead point blank in Minneapolis 2 years ago. Many of those who rushed to defend that black cop are out in the streets protesting today.

So Apple decides to deny access to a paid service and uses the interface to promote its own radio station.

I fully support the protest but this exploitation by Apple is disgusting.

What next? Maybe in the future my iCloud contacts will be disabled for a day because Apple decides I should meet some new people?

Sigh...they didn’t deny access to a paid service. You still have full access. They simply made it little less convenient for you access some of that content for a single day while they bring needed attention to an important issue.

No you do not. I posted a picture of my For You page that I use regularly to view my history and other things. I cannot access this feature now.

I applaud Apple for standing up for black lives and standing against injustice. I am proud today more than ever to support Apple, who has supported equality from day one. If you're offended because Apple took a stand against racism then you haven't been paying attention, they have been taking stands (even when they weren't popular) from the beginning.

Thank you Tim.

Yep. They are hurting their business. Spotify is looking much more appealing. I am usually 100% Apple. I have nothing but Macs, iPads, iPhones and all of Apple Services and almost all of their software packages. I love Apple to death but this was a very very VERY bad move.
I already canceled my family sub. It’s the principal of the matter.
It’s 10pm eastern. It’s almost over. You’ll make it! You can do it! Pull up your big boy pants and power through.
I didn't make it. I cancelled my sub. Wanna buy an iPhone 11 Pro Max? If Apple wants to play politics, they shouldn't do it on my dime. This kind of denial of paid services will not be tolerated by me.

Apple's response is below. I informed them that I already cancelled and I want a refund on the balance of my subscription. This behavior that impacts services that I paid for is unacceptable no matter the cause.

"Thanks for contacting us. I understand that you’re currently unable to access some features of your Apple Music Membership. I can imagine how eager you must be to get this straightened out. I will be happy to partner with you on getting this taken care of today.

We have a special radio station playing today featuring the best in black music as one way to demonstrate our support for equality. We invite you to listen and hope you enjoy what you hear. You’ll be able to find your regular stations again tomorrow. Thanks for standing with us.

We’re extremely proud to be a diverse company who values everyone and today we are expressing that again. We invite you to take part, but if you’re missing your regular content, don’t worry, it’ll be back very soon.

Now, if you'd still want to cancel your Apple Music Membership, you won’t be able to:

• Sign up for another Apple Music trial.
• Play or download music and playlists from the Apple Music catalog.
• Play songs that were matched to Apple Music unless you have the original files.
• Have access to play For You recommendations"

isn't this illegal?
if I paid for 24/7 access, you should not just pull out of the deal based on your political or religious views. Also , is it world wide? There are many countries who do not have a problem with black racism, including almost all of the African continent, why should they pay attention to something that is not a problem in the first place for them.

I buy Apple products and services for one reason only - because they help me do my job better than any other product. I can look past all of the BS political and idealogical crap they push, but damnit Apple, stop messing with services I pay for. I don’t care if it is for an hour or for 30 days. I paid for the service and I am owed the full use of that product without the BS propaganda and hinderance no matter how little it is. Unless someone is brain dead, they are already aware of what is happening in the US right now and you know that you’re using this event to make money from it. That’s disgusting.

Having a Singapore-based Music account, my subscription is largely unaffected by this (thankfully). The Browse home page only shows "For Us, By Us" playlist and a number of Beats 1 Interviews, as stated. However "For You" and "Radio" sections works just as per normal. Likewise my music library is unaffected. Even the "Browse" section's 2nd-level navigations like "Top Charts", "Genres", etc seems unaffected.

Apple's marketing worked as intended. They figured hardware sales from customers happy about this would make up for a few lost subscriptions.

Oh. Oh I see now. Y'all not gettin enough attention. Attention. Like little kids not gettin their attention.
Riots all over the frekin news, every social media, city wide curfew, definitely y'all need more attention. Not gettin that attention that y'all are entitled to

Standing at the forefront in the fight against injustice and for equality, everywhere and anytime, except when it hurts our business. Indeed very applaudable!

Awhhhh the snowflakes have melted. You get AppleMusic back now! THE WORLD IS AGAIN GREAT!

Will Apple also have "white lives matter" days?

https://www.theatlantic.com/health/...years-of-life-lost-to-police-violence/559835/ :

"Of the 1,146 and 1,092 victims of police violence in 2015 and 2016, respectively, the authors found that 52 percent were white, 26 percent were black, and 17 percent were Hispanic."

Did you ever learn statistics in school?

If you have 1 slice of a 10 slice pie, vs 1 slice of a 10000 slice pie. Which slice is biggest?

That's not correct. There are about the same number of blacks as whites arrested every year. The difference is when a white person gets arrested he is about twice as likely to be killed by a cop than a black person.
That argument requires some very special brain acrobatics.

Blackout Tuesday disgusts me. There are terrible human rights violations and deaths going on around the world and the media and the non affected public stay silent. A black man dies at the hands of white police officers and suddenly the world reacts. What makes a black life so special it gets world wide media attention? whereas hundreds if not thousands of people are dying due to human rights violations around the world and not a thing is said or world wide protests made.
