So pausing Apple Music for a day will fix this how? I’d pause Apple Music permanently if I thought it would make all things rosey in the world. It’s just the latest headline and everyone’s going jump on it and pretend they care but in a month they’ll be talking about some other new story of the day
[automerge]1591114318[/automerge]

That’s because the CCP is over them making iPhones. If the police made iPhones you wouldn’t hear a peep from Apple about this either 😂

Yes that is my problem with this. Is Apple Music the platform that will CHANGE THE COUNTRY? I highly doubt it. So why attempt it and cause frustration to customers? The country absolutely cannot be saved unless Apple Music does this? Do people seriously think so?

That is better at least you can still access your recommended and other portions of the page. This is entirely preventing some features from being accessed.
Agreed it’s more intrusive but the same crap. I like the Internet because I can choose what I look at. If I watch the news 24/7 like some people do I would have a mental breakdown. I cannot do this at all. Some people have conditions where they simply cannot deal with all the stress. This doesn’t stress me though because I just don’t open the Apple Music app. This is one good reason to have alternatives like Spotify

I really don’t know what everyone is in an uproar about. Apple Music isn’t that great. I love Apple and Apple products but Apple Music is like Siri. It’s OK but it’s not quite all there 😂

First, thanks for the respectful meaner of your reply — it's appriciated.
As I am sure you know there are multiple autopsies at the moment that reflect a different cause of death. The second, which supports asphyxiation, was a "paid for" second opinion and as such could be questioned.

Source: https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2020/06/9849564/what-is-mechanical-asphyxia-meaning

I do not feel that it does not need to be murder, it might be. I simply challenged another's statement that it was murder when that has not been established. I felt the other poster was using the word murder to dramatize his point.
I feel a second opinion was absolutely acceptable to request. If you feel the police are covering up wrongdoing (they took forever to even arrest the main officer, and the rest of them who helped still haven't been charged as accomplices) so how can you trust their findings. People ask doctors for second opinions all the time and this without a reason to fear bias, a fear that should be easily understood here.

Ok, then how do we change the fact that african americans also commit a disproportionarely large number of crimes relative to their percentage of the population which increases their interactions with law enforcement?

Source: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/table-43

Because Blacks are charged at a higher rate than whites. We have no way to know who is committing every crime, but we do know that Blacks are disproportionally "charged" than whites in our current system. Now, if more are charged and because of economic disparity have less ability to fight weak charges, they plead — especially if it's for probation or a short amount of time.

Careful what you wish for... if this officer willingly committed premeditated murder in broad daylight while being filmed by multiple sources I see a temporary insanity plea coming.

Think about that, who would in broad daylight and while being filmed knowingly suffocate a person in that manner? If that was premeditated then that is one scary, insane individual.

IMHO the officer was simply an a**hole who pushed it too far and there is next to no way he won't pay the price but establishing "murder 1" will probably not happen.

I wish for punishment — not the death penalty. I wish for those in power who flex said "power" unjustifiably to be held accountable and the power stripped from them. I wish for those who have "power" to think about how they apply it and to use it justly for every citizen — not just the ones that look like them and finally, I wish for police to use their force in equal measure to the adversity they may face every day. "Who would in broad daylight and while being filmed knowingly suffocate a person in that manner?" Someone who thinks they can get away with it. These protests are meant to shine a light on the methodology of the "Blue Sheild". That police can use extreme force because he will be protected by his fellow officers at the detriment of the community — undermining the reason they exist — to serve and protect.

This is not a black and white thing — it's a Black and Blue Shield thing.

There’s no point in getting that wound up about what some corporation does for PR purposes. They all do it so if you want to boycott Apple then you'll need to boycott Google as well. The only thing you can change is you. You can’t worry about what other people do

yeah you’re absolutely right. And I think for me I just need to cut out a lot of technology in my life. It doesn’t bring me value as it once did.

thanks for your grounded response.

BINGO! This is why I keep saying nothing will ever change in this country.

White people ignore the fact that for 100 years there was Apartheid in America.
Jim Crow and The Black Codes, codified racism in this country. It wasn't until 1967 that Civil Rights Laws were passed.
We still have banks and other institutions that deny access to Black Americans.

We have never called Jim Crow and The Black Codes - Apartheid; but that's what is was.
We have never called the internment of the Japanese Americans - ConcentrationCamps; but that's what they were.
We have never called the wars against Native Americans - Genocide; but that's what it was.
We had the abuse of farmworkers in the Central Valley of Ca; which is why we had major stakes in the 60/70's.
Denial or housing, education and employment in America for people of color.
During the Civil Rights Movement; dogs were set on Black Americans along with hoses, etc.
My uncles and relatives fought in WWII , the Korean War and Vietnam and were told they were less than whites when they came home.

You see the pattern? The language gets sanitized and we don't have a real discussion.
But, you know who has never gotten the short end of the stick in America, but always complain when they are inconvenienced?

I don't need to answer that.

I’d be willing to bet it’s more of African Americans statistically have less money. If you don’t have money then you can’t afford a lawyer. I don’t know if you’ve ever been arrested for anything but having a public defender is pretty much pleading guilty regardless if you are or not. If you have a good lawyer even if the evidence shows you might be guilty there’s a chance you’ll be found not guilty. A good example of that is O.J. Simpson. Our justice system is based on money so if you don’t have money you’ll get chewed up and spit out

Yes I am the same way. Which is why I went to Apple Music to find something calm to listen to and LOOK. I deal with this all day every day, and I have a very stressful job. I am suffering a bit due to the social distancing mentally and I need something to destress and relax.

It's all about race.
White people don't have talks with their children about how to survive a traffic stop.
I had the talk.
I have given my children the talk.
Richard Pryor had a great but sad skit about a traffic stop. Google Richard Pryor traffic stop joke.
It was real then. It's real now.

Agree with your point, but disagree with having talks. I’m not black, but I used to get harassed a bit by the cops. Maybe because I’m not lily-white. Idk. But i was always respectful, and things tended to work out. I’ve taught my daughter how to behave with the police. “Yes sir/ma’am, no sir/ma’am, thank you”. And there are bad cops that abuse and/or kill white people. Believe me. And I’ve protested for all people. But, again, just because someone may not be black, you should still have those conversations with your kids.

And I respect that. I don't care if you are an actual Alien like Superman or have literally green skin like Piccolo from Dragon Ball. Everyone should be treated with respect. But is Apple Music the platform that will CHANGE THE COUNTRY? I highly doubt it. Its a paid service that is providing complications to customers. This is not a good decision.

They don't get it.
EVerytime a cop pulls behind me I wonder if today is the day I get handcuffed or beaten for "driving while black".
I have been pulled over for being in the wrong neighborhood in a nice car. Mind you I live in that neighborhood.
I have been pulled over and taken out of my car because I or the car looked like one involved in illegal activity.
That was an excuse to stop me.
I have never been arrested.
I have never been in any trouble.
I have multiple degrees in engineering.
I'm a Mensa member.
None of that matters because for a lot of people all I am is black.

My actual black friends don't think like this. You're just being a drama queen.

It’s legal in Minneapolis.

From your link. The move, though illegal in most states and by the DoJ, is legal but the application of the move was not.

That's allowed in order to control someone with "light to moderate pressure" or "with the intention of rendering the person unconscious by applying adequate pressure." The latter act is authorized only to protect officer lives with a suspect who is "actively aggressive" and cannot be controlled by lesser methods.

He was not a threat to any of the officers, he was already restrained and was long since incapacitated meaning the move was still applied illegally by their own guidelines. Shooting a suspect is a "legal move", how that move is applied determines if it was a "good shoot" or not. If a cop kicks a suspect to prevent them from running away, it's not the same as kicking him when he's down and in cuffs, so it is the context that makes the move illegal, not just the move its self.

I'm all about advocacy, and speaking out, but a company shouldn't FORCE its views on others. There should be an opt out, for those not wanting to be involved.

Especially when the company is so selective about who they support. So Apple is supporting the Black community here, bravo. But then we have to ask why Apple has attacked the Hong Kong movement by deleting apps in support of the police. I guess Apple is also against Taiwan and Apple feels that the Uyghur belong in concentration camps. There are more than 1 million people being held in concentration camps in China and yet Apple is very pro-China. And speaking of concentration camps, Apple has never once acknowledged Holocaust Remembrance Day, so clearly Apple thinks the Holocaust was a good idea. Apple is mute on all the human rights violations in the middle east, so I guess their stances here means they implicitly support those human rights violations too.

The thing is, once Apple decides they want to be a political entity, everything they do should be taken in a political light. If they actively support the rights of some and not others, it absolutely should be taken as they are against the rights of those others. We are a global community of smaller communities, and when Apple stands up for one community while dozens of others are currently being persecuted and attacked around the world, the whole world should stand up and denounce it.

Its wrong what happened. And bad cops do exist. But has it been confirmed that it was a race thing, or just that cop being mean to anyone?

Except all lives don't matter to the police.

All lives matter is the narrative of right wing racists.
When have white lives NOT mattered in America?
When have blue lives not mattered in America?
I can tell when Native American lives didn't matter.
I can tell you when Japanese and Hispanic lives didn't matter.
I can tell you for 100 years during American Apartheid that Black Lives didn't matter.
I can tell you today that a large percentage of law enforcement still don't think Black Lives Matter.

I can tell you how Tulsa Oklahoma burned in the 1920's because someone said a black man accosted a white woman.
More than 300 black people were killed and about 40 city blocks were burned by whites in a black area called Black Wall Street.
I can tell you how the American government experimented with syphilis on about 300 black men in the Bad Blood Experiment.

I can tell you how other states promote racism under the guise of souther heritage with confederate statues that were erected in the south during the 1920's in from of state and federal buildings as an oppressive tactic to show that whites were still in charge.

I can quote Alexander Stephens' Cornerstone Speech that details that the confederacy and everything about it was built on racism. Here is a quote from the speech.
" Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth. This truth has been slow in the process of its development, like all other truths in the various departments of science."

If you fly the confederate flag or talk about southern heritage, you ARE a racist.

Kind of funny that this is all blowing up over a black guy being killed by cops.. but the group of cops were as racially diverse as you can get. It's almost like it isn't cops vs black people, but instead, ****** cops against everyone. I mean, it was literally a white cop, a black cop, and asian cop, and a hispanic cop.
I completely agree — it's not a black and white thing. It's a blue shield thing.

Agreed, I am not challenging the validity of requesting a second autopsy, I would have done the same but as easily understood as that is it should be equally as easily understood that Michael Baden could be biased as he was paid by the family and has a history of "telling people what they want to hear" and collecting a pay check while doing it. The problem here is who do we believe? Should we get another 7 autopsies?

"Who would in broad daylight and while being filmed knowingly suffocate a person in that manner?" Someone who thinks they can get away with it.

This might be our "agree to disagree" moment, while "someone who thinks they can get away with it" could be the case I believe it far more likely that the officer didn't mean to kill but did. What he did do on purpose was neglect a plea for help... for minutes and he should be charged and prosecuted for that, I still feel premeditated murder 1 is not the case.

No person in their right mind could possibly think "I'm going to kill this guy with my knee in broad daylight while multiple people film me and I will get away with it. That is the definition of insane.

People's bubbles are nice and cozzy, man. It takes a glass-shattering moment for some people to register someone else perspective on things that don't happen to them.

I hate to tell you dude, but America is not the world. Most people in the world don't care about what you crazy people do now in that weird country of yours...

I'm sure your country has zero problems and is a perfect utopia.

Buzz off, troll.

I don’t think a good argument could be made to justify that officer's actions. well I’m not in some sort of jury so I don’t feel qualified to judge him if I was a betting man my bet would be on him being found guilty. I can’t see any reason why he was using that amount of force. This has nothing to do with Apple virtue signaling. Perhaps their marketing department calculated this will help them with African American sales IDK. I just hate when politics gets shoved into everything

So we are never allowed to complain when we feel like Apple is doing something wrong? Got it. It doesn't matter if its just for one day. I am paying for a service that is interrupted INTENTIONALLY. Unintentional outages like internet outages and server issues are another thing. This is INTENTIONAL. I work hard for my money and don't want to waste it.

Unsubscribe. There, done. But don't come on here bitching about loss of one day of service when there is a bigger picture here. You look petty and entitled.
[automerge]1591116243[/automerge]
No one is saying what happened was nothing short of a tragedy and justice must be served.

However, interrupting a service someone is PAYING FOR is not a great way to pull more people to your side and your cause.

If loss of one day of service enough to turn you against the Black Lives Matter movement then you were never going to advocate for or on its behalf anyways.
