But did MobileMe really have that many issues? I seem to remember it actually doing more than what iCloud ended up supporting. I am one of the few that apparently never had a problem with that service. Why fix what's not broken rings true.
"The MobileMe launch clearly demonstrates that we have more to learn about Internet services," Jobs said in the August 2008 memo. "And learn we will. The vision of MobileMe is both exciting and ambitious, and we will press on to make it a service we are all proud of by the end of this year."

Apple ended up scrapping MobileMe, shutting down the service in June 2012.

"From syncing bugs that erased iPhone customer contact lists, to a mail server crash that locked people out of their e-mail accounts. These breakdowns forced Apple, at the dawn of the service, to apologize to its subscribers and make it up to them with a free 30-day, followed by a 60-day subscription extension. Those events overshadowed the service from then on."

They still are in the learning process i might guess....... Mobile me was a flop from the first swithc .Mac > Mobile me and then there are still those lost emails..... but luckily we forget fast :D

Using iTunes for Apple music is a mistake, it needs to be a separate app. Like a lot of Apple's recent decisions, there doesn't seem to be any common sense to what they are doing. The beautiful well thought out design that used to be prevalent in Apple products has disappeared, and what we are left with is a parody of what Apple used to be. Almost EVERY other music streaming service has a better app than the convoluted mess that is iTunes and Apple Music.

Music app is broken, there is like 4 out of 5 tabs for streaming and radio that you have to pay for and one tab for your own music or downloaded music. Now i'm sorry but even if you think streaming is amazing that's a disproportionate amount of emphasis on a paid service when it's brand new and most people just don't want it.

I HATE what they did to the music player app and literally never listen to music from the app anymore. I prefer to youtube it or play it on another device like laptop or apple tv where at least you can avoid nagging trials of streaming services no one wants. Apple have provided a service no one wanted.

Sure it might have been a nice standalone app like spotify that was integrated and offered suggestions but to join the two was a huge mistake. Most people thought they needed to buy apple music to listen to the tracks they already owned.

It's such a mess, but still I persist. I pay for both Apple Music and iTunes Match and barely use it. Just only hope they take the time to build it right from the ground up complete and cohesive.

Apple Music is such a crappy service. It's numerous issues go way beyond the confusing, scattershot, design. They need to fix the fact that it destroys people's music libraries before they worry about the crap design.

If it's absolutely guaranteed that it won't mess with my existing iTunes purchased content, metadata, artwork etc, in any way, then I *might* be tempted to give it a try.

I was one of the .Mac to MobileMe converts.

The MobileMe launch was plagued with issues, it was basically a major failure. I read about SJ yelling at the MobileMe team and firing the lead on the spot. The launch was a disaster, but the issues were eventually fixed.

MobileMe was shut down due to the implementation of iCloud, not necessarily of the issues of MobileMe. Most of the MobileMe issues were fixed by the time of iCloud.

You forget that any new Apple computers will get a only 30 ( if we are so lucky ) second brief announcement!

Watch Bands however... 20 minutes minimum.

So accrording to rumors for WWDC we should expect:
Skylake MBP (with redesign)
Skylake Mini
Skylake iMac (all the line)
New MP
Watch bands
Watch 2
14 MBA
New Apple Music
New iTunes
New Mac OS (preview)
New iOS (preview)

Seems like they should have booked for 4 hours keynote......

I don't get all the "it's so complicated" complaints. I don't find a single thing about it complicated. The only issue I've had is related to playlists occasionally losing songs that were previously in them, and even that has happened only twice in the past year.

I've never understood what makes Apple Music not easy to use and understand. Everyone just keeps parroting it like it's a fact.

I do not have a AM subscription, so I won't comment on the ease of use of it. But, the iOS 9 music app is not as easy as it once was. Before iOS 9, it was simple and intuitive.

The current music app mess is not.

This is just one example. The play/pause button on the mini "now playing" is tiny. Why is it so small?
I have an iPhone 6s Plus and it is small on the large screen, so I know it has to be small on the smaller phones.

I mean, I know that I always just press the now playing bar itself so it brings up the track and I pause from there.

They should have fixed the interface after launch, concerned that Apple Music and it's overhaul (front end ) is going to a major innovation at wwdc. Along with new beats products .
Hopefully this means they've taken their time and are doing a thoughtful redesign not just a knee jerk panic reaction. Makes me wonder though who was responsible for the initial app. Kind of sounds like it was more Beats than Apple. I just hope we don't get another way too long presentation by Cue at WWDC. That was awful.

In short, the new re-design will make it more harder to load up your own music and listen to it.

There will be big logos of Apple music which will be a highlight. There will be a tiny section hidden away which will have a broken function to sync and listen to your own music. You will be greeted with messages like "You are disgrace to the planet because you chose to listen to your own music instead of Apple Music" after listening to few songs.

Good ol' days where we could plug in our iPhones or iPods to iTunes and sync music are coming to an end.

Surprisingly, I listen to music less. The music app is not inviting enough. Then there is a taunting "Showing only music on this iPhone. Show All Music" banner which does not go away if one wants pure offline mode.

Actually, those days are gone! Damn! :(
Why not listen to your "own" music on Apple Music? I don't understand the resistance some people have to streaming.

If your answer is that it costs money, so does buying your "own" music. In fact, with most streaming services, you can listen to almost everything ever published for less than the price of one album per month. It's a ridiculously good deal for consumers. If your concern is that you want to actually "own" your music, there's no real difference. It's all just digits. If it ever disappears from the streaming service, then you can buy it. But stuff seldom disappears. If your concern is data usage, just switch to any of the carriers (almost all of them now?) that offer free streaming data plans.

I don't know if the Apple Music service has improved in the UK. The bandwidth was pathetic with long gaps between tracks and endless buffering on the tracks themselves. I gave up and moved to Spotify last year, which did work OK but they have now updated their music player (obligatory) and it won't run on the old 2007 iMac I use as a media server in the UK, so I have binned that as well. I would go back to Apple Music but only if their bandwidth has improved. Strangely it worked far better at my French house, where I only have a 20 mb/s connection against my 40 mb/s connection in the UK.

Meh. I'm in the minority (seemingly; according to this community, anyway) that actually likes the design of the UI. And i was able to get around it in just a few hours, so I'm not too excited for a new layout (however, I'll certainly welcome it). Though, wouldn't they want to announce any Apple Music stuff in a fall event, where they would announce any iPods (if they decided to make any new ones) and other music-related things?

Well, they ARE using a conference centre that they rarely use expect for really special announcements (that or the size must have been larger).

If you disable Apple Music Connect under Settings/Restrictions, Playlists can be displayed on the main 5 button tab which makes it easier to get to.

I love the idea of Apple Music, but the interface on the iPhone App is an absolute mess!! It takes me ages to find my playlists. Before I upgraded to family membership it wouldn't let me listen to tracks that I had previously purchased through iTunes if someone else in my household was listening to Apple Music on another device. It's difficult to download individual tracks locally on the iPhone app, but it will let you download whole albums.

Ages to find your playlists? I just picked up my phone. I tapped the music app, then at the bottom, I tapped playlists. Clearly we define "ages" differently.

Nope. No playlists button at the bottom of my app. I tapped the music app, then at the bottom I see 'For you', 'New', 'Radio', 'Connect' and 'My Music'.

I think I'm supposed to tap 'My Music'. So I go ahead, and do that. Nope, still no playlists button... (Scratch my head, trying to remember where it is...). I'm currently looking at the last track I played, but I still can't remember where that playlists button is. Ok, let's hit the 'Back' button and see if I can find it.... Nope, now I have 'All Apple Music' or 'My Music'. Ah, just realised it remembered what I was searching for last time (because I couldn't find it in the first place in the messed up interface). Ok, clear the search... Aha, finally found the list of my playlists...

I'll forget this totally unintuitive, messed-up sequence that I seem to have to follow every time. So ok, maybe it doesn't take me ages, but I shouldn't have to go hunting for it, every time I attempt to use it.

Lets hope this redesign will address many of the detractors issues.
I fear for the worst. But let's clarify: These are issues, not detractors' issues.

For quite a while they have been focussing on discovering music, discovering things about musicians, and so on, instead of focussing on actually playing the music, and basic functionality.

Once in a while I sync with my Mac, and afterwards there is no music on my iPhone whatsoever. Which stinks in a major way.

You can't edit your "Play Next" list unless you're playing music. You can't look at your "Play Next" list unless you are playing music. I haven't found _any_ way to start from scratch and make the "Play Next" list play two CDs that I want to listen to in a row. It's just not possible. It's ridiculous. (You can't do it if you are not playing anything. Start playing the first song of the first CD, go on "Play Next", add the second CD, and now the order is song 1 of CD 1, followed by CD 2, followed by the rest of CD 1. WTF. What ****ing idiot designed that.

If you are the ****ing idiot that designed it, feel free to answer, and I'll tear you apart.
