I think it’s important to try to understand so we’re on the same page here. What, exactly, is it you’re envisioning here? Someone makes a bedroom recording of a mostly finished song, uploads it to ChatGPT, and says ‘enhance!’? (Metaphorically, the prompt is irrelevant)

Is there some AI tool I’m unaware of that does such a job?

I would support the labelling of this hypothetical practice so I can enjoy not listening to it. Mastering a track is a skill not many appreciate who aren’t aware of it.
I love how AI people try to keep making up edge cases for us to accept the use of an LLM in music.

We want the whole thing out. Enhanced, entirely made, partly made. It should all be banned.

I can accept that LLMs, diffusion models, etc. can be techniques used to make better tools for us to use to make things, using our own human creativity and judgement, but generative AI is a sick joke. It's not making the world better, it's going to sideline creativity and drown us all in an ocean of repetitive mediocrity.

Yes, plenty. In fact there are some AI tools now that allow you to create your own custom AI model based on your own works (melodies, instrumental parts your made, beats you make, complete recorded songs you created, your own vocals, even your own lyrics). Then you can make a song (melodies, lyrics, play instrumental parts, beats, lyrics and vocals) then uploaded into your own custom model to enhance the song.

Now if you got a problem with this then tell me why? Because you think this is hurting working musicians? Because you think that artists and bands who play their own instruments and go to the studio, spending hundreds of dollars not making the same type of money? Because I don't understand why a person will get all up in arms about a song that is a original song (music) using AI as a tool to create a hybrid.

Yeah, totally agree. And it is already impacting writing and reading quality in school-aged kids because they just delegate that to an LLM. I hope that it doesn’t end up being as awful as I think it’ll be and that I’m just exaggerating. I do hope I’m wrong.

Worst case scenario, I’ll consume content that predates this garbage. I won’t run out of it in my lifetime, that’s for sure.

The sad part is that you see the psychopaths that are in charge of it and it isn’t even a silver lining.

I hope that the world shuns this nonsense as it should.

Because I want human creations. That’s the whole point of me consuming content.

Pathetic LLM creations are precisely that, pathetic, and I want them as far away from my eyes and ears as possible.

A hybrid? Ban it into oblivion.

"Enhance it" .. how?
What on Earth are you actually talking about when you say "enhance a song with AI"?
Make the instrumentation of the song you written and played sound better (drums, guitars, keyboards,, etc), rearranging your vocals, rearranging the song structure of your song. That is what I mean.

Also, who said that you can't redo your song that was enhanced with a AI tool by replaying it on your instruments or in your MPC or in FL Studio? This is what I mean about a hybrid.

You don't make any sense. If someone write their own songs and play that song on instruments, that IS a human creation, and someone using AI as a tool for those same songs they created DOESN'T change that fact OK

Because they didn’t do it themselves and instead chose to use AI garbage, why is that so difficult to understand?
Writing their own songs and play it on a instrument before using AI as a tool IS part of doing it themselves. What is hard for YOU to understand?

Also why do you care about how someone put together their own songs? That is not your concern as a listener. The only concern you should have is if the songs are originally human made before technology was used and is the mixing and mastering on point.

Your argument is almost similar to people saying that a song is trash because it was recorded with electric instruments, effects, DAWs, hardware and even samplers instead of a 40 piece orchestra with music notes on sheets to read, because that is what songs in Rock & Roll, Disco, EDM and Hip Hop and almost any song that was produced after the 1940s was criticized for.

You are better off no longer listen to music, because now major artists, producers, arrangers, musicians are now incorporating AI technology into their works. Major record labels are starting to form partnerships with AI companies for their own songs to use as a tool and for AI companies to use their catalogs. Even Spotify will be rolling a new generative AI tool that will allow users to remix songs licensed by UMG and Merlin.

You can call the technology trash but it is not going anywhere soon, no matter how much Apple, Spotify or any other company try to control it.

YouTube drives me nuts for this! YouTube encourages users to create this crap. It also drives me crazy that I actually like a couple AI generated songs. I thumbed them down so they don’t pop back up. But new ones keep popping out of the wood work. Hopefully they realize no one wants that crap and will at the very least label the songs as AI.

I love that apple (and presumably others) are finally doing this.

The thing about music that causes us to love it is that it is created by humans with a soul and, most importantly, imperfections. We have some how reached a point where we have decided that all imperfections are bad and it is ruining art.

Look at modern movies vs old movies with lighting and shadows and things like that. Old movies looked dynamic and imperfect and it felt real, now so many movies feel flat and boring because of the netflix effect and things like creating content for people who are doomscrolling while they watch it.

In the same way basically all of the greatest songs in history could be fed through some type of AI tool to remove all of their imperfections but they would then cease to be art. We are imperfect creatures and having the talent or the drive to put in the work and create something beautiful, even with imperfections, is a unique thing to us.

When we say that AI can do that same thing we are ultimately saying that none of the human elements actually matter and I will NEVER agree with that.

There is no such thing as "AI people", it's people who uses AI. Also like I said, your attitude is we should live like people lived 20,000 years ago, in the stone age and be primitive with technology.

You still don’t get it. Art is art because it is human. AI isn’t a tool that improves songs. It is garbage that sucks all of the human aspect of the creative process.

And this is all sad and the proof that the world accepting this means that we are in a dark place.

I hope that the general public shuns this nonsense just like I do.

Judging by some polls I’ve seen, I still have hope that the psychopaths in charge of this will eventually be shunned like they should.

Best comment I’ve ever seen. We want things with human soul, not a lifeless, appalling entity controlled by psychopaths engulfing human creativity.

So a person who wrote their own music and play it on a instrument is no longer soulful because it use a AI tool to help it. Ok, like I said you don't like technology and want us to live a the stone ages again.

Wanting to keep AI out of art ≠ "don't like advance technology"
Then what is it then? When I am telling you guys that if someone wrote there OWN songs and played it on a instrument BEFORE using technology, it is still human made and still art, not someone who text to make a song. That is the only conclusion that can come across.

Here is what you need to answer, why does it NEED the AI tools help?
Why do you care? Is the song an original song that a person made BEFORE the use of Al tools? That's all I care about. I don't care if the song was done with the assistance of AI, on a MPC, in FL Studio or with a house band. If the writing of the song by a human out of his and her own mind and instruments make me feel good, dance or want to make love to my woman, that's what matters to me.

Exactly why I stopped paying for YT Premium. If they aren't going to filter out AI garbage, or at least give me the ability to do it, I'm not giving them a monthly payment.
