If anything they should punish you. This post is making me not want to buy a watch

Hype exhaustion. Dragged on for too long since last year and slow delivery.

I guess the frustration is the realization I am the only ONE out of hundreds of people I have asked in real life and Facebook who has pre-ordered. Most people have a wait and see attitude.

Some can see it as being in an "envious" position to be the first batch to try out a new tech; in reality the more I think about it the more it feels like taking a plunge based on faith just because I have used the very first Apple computer in the 80s and liked everything since iPod.

I am keeping my order, I will enjoy it as like I have stated in the other thread I am sold on design.

I originally started this thread to see how much people trusted Apple to not flop after seeing how this launch is mired in controversy. Instead of getting some solid discussion what I am reading have been solid fanboyism and insults. Unexpected but understandable, the question is if this flops (I hope it won't), would our attitude be any different than displayed here if the same question is asked on next new product category launch?

I like this "1st" generation product, I am buying the expensive version. Most would only risk Sport version. And many have said to wait for 2nd and 3rd generation. That's why the OP is phrased rather boldly that as risk takers and advocates, Apple should consider rewarding us - this is a valid strategy in retail space for a lot of companies and definitely a good one if Apple wasn't in the position they are in today - and for a product that needs convincing and is not obvious on the "needs" component and design and delivery time confusions.

I'm very certain that a buffing cloth with be included with every watch.

Apologies. Unless you're me, or (for reasons I can't possibly fathom) have read my posts, you would get my running "buffing cloth" joke. I'm using "buffing cloth" as a metaphor for "completely ridiculous." Example: I found the amount of buffing I witnessed during my try-on appointment, completely ridiculous.

So while the Watch may come with a buffing cloth, I don't care. For reasons just covered. And to be crystal clear, I do not think that an underpaid Chinese workforce should be compensated with free buffing cloths (as somehow inferred by another forum member). Seriously??

So what I DO think - and the entire point I was trying to make in a less direct and more humerus way (serves me right) - is that the OP's "Apple owes early adopters something" claim was, and is, completely ridiculous. Laughable. As awkward a suggestion as my experience at my try-on appointment.

Or maybe I'm just seeing how much I can fill this thread with the words "buffing cloth."

Soooooo... Buffing cloth.

Politicians have made people believe they should get free stuff for doing nothing. The future will be interesting.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks along those lines.

*Disclamer before this next bit, I'm 40, so not completely ancient yet*

I don't know if it's a younger generational thing or not but I do see a lot more, give me everything I want and all my money for free, attitude around now than I did when I was younger. We got taught (and by taught I mean slapped round the head and told to get out and get a job) to work for your money and pay for what you get.

**Rant ends, crotchety old man grumbles to himself about the good old days and shuffles off with his newspaper to get more coffee. Real coffee not some mocha whatsit frappe cream filled floaty bits of gawd knows what, is that actually coffee it tastes funny, coffee.**

Damn, I knew there was something more to this... :D

You should all get the next five U2 albums for free and downloaded to your 2gb of storage which can't be deleted. Remember the U2 gate? People don't want free stuff, people must have free stuff.

No soup for you!

if rumors of over 1 million strong is true, it is not really an early adopter type of experience. Maybe if this was pebble a few years ago (my pebble has "kickstarter" etched into it).

I also like that I still have my original iPhone and original box. There are not many of us.

I think there are more than you might think

We are buying this and advertising for them...

At the very least we should expect some kind of token for appreciation. Like... A discount, an electronic badge, limited edition watch face. Something.

This should be proposed to Apple if they aren't thinking about it already.

HOLY JEEZ! The entitlement...my god. Lol.

We do get something. We get what we pay for. No one is forcing you be buy it on day one.

I hesitate to attribute it to politicians. I'd bet it has to do more with a late-20th century shift in customer service from big companies especially food service. This bottom-up give-the-customer-whatever-they-want, pandering, let-me-speak-to-a-manager mentality. "My soup wasn't as spicy as I thought it was going to be" free meal. "I ordered this but it turns out I didn't read what it was and I don't like pesto" COMPED

"The customer is always right"?

Good luck asking for freebies when the watch sold out of pre-orders ;)

Feel free to cancel your order, someone else will advertise for free for them.

Lol. I don't care about freebies. I am posting this for the sake of argument.

I almost bought Edition but settled for stainless steel band because they don't offer a platinum or gold band for the Edition model.

Not too much fun to be the only person in my circles pre-ordering the watch. I will have no one to send those silly drawing message with.

What were apple thinking keeping the price down to 10K ;) A nice gold bracelet would have seen them in the 40K mark.... and for that, Apple "should" definitely reward you!

4-6 weeks wait when ordered at 12:01AM. Yeah right :)

Should have ordered the SS with leather or sports band, and ordered the bracelet in a separate order, you would have got 24th. Just a thought.

I m located in Canada. By the time I decided on that option it's also 4-6 weeks. FML

At my try-on appointment, I suggested that they give me a "loaner" edition with link bracelet until my sport watch comes in. Somehow they didn't follow my logic. :p

They're rewarding you with a watch. Congratulations.
