I am so tired of people using "quietly" or "silently" all the time as if it adds anything. "CNN QUIETLY REMOVED..." do we really expect them to hold a meeting for this? Make some grand announcement?

The two companies are working out a new contact and in the meantime the content is removed since there is no contact in place. The last one lapsed and they are working out details of the next one. Stuff like this happens all the time. But I guess the clickbait works...

"This effectively ends its distribution agreement with Apple while the two sides negotiate new terms. Discussions are apparently ongoing and CNN's content could return if a new deal is reached."

Did this distribution agreement end because of CNN quietly removing their content or was it the other way around? Again just more intentionally misleading text to insinuate something sinister. CNN quietly removes their content which ended its distribution agreement with Apple and if they can reach a deal it might come back. OR in reality land: their current agreement lapsed and the content is removed until a new one is put in place. It's really that simple.

If I don't pay my electric bill they turn off the power until I pay them. It's not that my electric company QUIETLY cuts power and then I stopped paying them which then ends our agreement.

American multinational news company CNN has abruptly pulled its content from Apple News, Semafor reports.

CNN quietly removed its stories from Apple News over the weekend and there is no longer a feed from the network to subscribe to in the app. This effectively ends its distribution agreement with Apple while the two sides negotiate new terms. Discussions are apparently ongoing and CNN's content could return if a new deal is reached.

CNN recently launched a paid subscription service and began placing more of its reporting behind a paywall. The network now offers a $29.99-per-year articles-only tier and a $69.99-per-year "All Access" plan that combines written stories with its streaming service.

Major news firms including People and Condé Nast brands have leaned into Apple News, but other media companies have been cautious about adopting the platform since its debut. CNN was present from the launch of the app in 2015.

Since when is losing CNN a “loss”? In any case, AN is another Apple services corpse walking - just kill it already.

While many are going on about CNN no longer offering news of interest, something can be said about the relevance of Apple News+ entirely as a paid subscription to access news that aren't really worth the price.

I never felt compelled by most Apple online services, I guess the RDF doesn’t work on me.

You are old when you remember reading and watching informative and factual journalism.

Not that I fully dislike the opinionated journalism of this day and age, given time is becoming even shorter, it seems. It is just sad people are unable to read the facts and make their own informed decision.

I can't believe the strong feelings against CNN. I check it daily, and trust its reporting. How many of these same people give some trust to FoxNews? 😝

As for Apple News, I never quite trusted it to be a full source. Something about its design doesn't resonate with me.

Lol there's no way in HELL I'm paying for CNN's written articles. I miss the CNN of yore, but they're trippin' if they think people are going to pay this much for their content.
Yeah.. my thoughts exactly. I came here because I wanted to celebrate! I was super sick of having them, and almost only them, blocked but still seeing a "you blocked this channel" with the headline still there.
