There probably won't be updates. That being said, the statement was: there will be no new products. There will be no iDog, or iWhatever. However, I think the statement leaves room for updates. An updated iMac wouldn't be a "new" product.

I wonder if they are updating the design of the page? Theres nothing much to update, as they already did the update not to long ago when they introduced the new header at apples website. unless they have it be more user interaction with that cover flow deal thats on the other pages...

Still down in US.

I'm holding out for a 32 GB iPhone 3G (I have the original 16 GB). Was hoping to see it by Christmas.

Oh well. I can wait.

are we sure about this? the apple store is down right now? or is it just regular maintenance?

Makes alot of sense. I believe the iMac will have LED display, and that would be a major upgrade that would drown during the holiday season, where people would be happy just to buy the current model.

The rare open statement from Apple that all product are updated for now supports that, simply because Apple would not want people to wait for something else coming before the holiday and thereby losing sales and having a difficult time calculating sales.

This should dispel any notions that Apple PR people pay no attention to the rumor mills. The expectations of a Nov surprise had reached such proportions that it could easily have affected APPL stock prices when a pre-holiday release didn't happen.

So, Bill Evans, after getting the OK from The Steve, took the opportunity of a fortuitous question from Macworld to squelch those unfounded expectations.

That's too bad. I have several friends that have been looking to upgrade their poor Mini's.

for those who would like to see a combined apple tv and mac mini this is good news as this unit would not be released at a small event like a ore Christmas event.

Bring on macworld.

Good new if you ask me!

Is Apple getting too comfortable with their/our billions in the bank? No new MP in nearly a year...

MP has been updated in 11-13 months in reality. Buyer's guide counts all upgrades whether marketing or technical. Skip those non-upgrades and you'll see what I mean.

January fits perfectly.

Why does this forum erupt in hysteria every time the store goes down? Does it ever pan out to be true? Seems silly, especially when some stores (i.e. UK) are still up . . .

The Mac mini can recognize 3GB of memory. You can get 2GB modules from Other World Computing.

People buying Mac mini's are mostly only reading e-mail and visiting web sites. Not high end gaming. The graphics are more than enough.

are you sure?
for only reading e-mail and visiting websites, I could do so by nearly every gadget nowadays, including wii, ps3, psp, iphone, or even some digital photo frame like Sony CR1.

I must say the graphic is far less then enough, and even could be regarded as rubbish nowadays at this price point. Even in PowerPC era Mac mini did equip with a decent graphic chip. I want headless mac, but I don't want Mac Pro, what should I do?

I don't think the store being down means a damn thing, I just want it back up. I want to order a refurbished MacBook for the wife.

Finally, it's back up.

Time to build a hackintosh.

So I guess Apple made it clear. Buy a hackintosh.

iMacs and Mac Pros got a bit old (old = overpriced for the hardware given). Every point counts, not only MacOS running fine, but also machine capabilities.

Machine capabilities is not a big point, but it adds to the sum. Right now is not adding much. And yes, consumers compare prices, quality and functionality.

I hope that for the next line of apple computers they use the new Intel i7 architecture.
