Hey thats cool with me. I'm going to MacWorld and want to be the first to play with some of the new iCrap thats gonna come out.

New products are always nice, but now at least consumers know one way or the other which should help in their buying decisions.

It also pretty much guarantees some goodies are in store for MWSF 2009! :D

Bad Move! I don't know what the hell is up with Apple but I bet they would have sold a ton on minis for xmas if they would just update the damn things. Nothing major, just add 802.11n, better graphics and possibly a slightly faster cpu!

What a dissapointment. Was gonna get one for a parent but poof that kills that idea! Im sick and tired of waiting for them to update the mini!

So based on this news they are either going to discontinue the mini or new design for mac world!

Crap! :mad::rolleyes::eek:

Exactly. I dont' see why more people haven't speculated on this. I think our chances of seeing the mythical xMac are greater than ever.

Think about it: Laptops have been redesigned, as has the iMac. iMac refresh is not worthy of MacWorld material. Mac Pros will get Nehalem, but it won't happen at MacWorld. The only significant "hole" remaining in Apple's lineup is the Mini. I think we're going to be pleasantly surprised come January. I mean seriously, what else is there to announce?

My guess? Something to replace the Mini as we know it currently. I know this has been said for years, but based on the current state of product updates/refreshes, this is what all signs point to at the moment.

100% agree. We have the double convergence of Apple TV, and Mac Mini due for huge upgrades. Personally, I think Apple would be wise to merge Apple TV into Mac Mini.

Furthermore, I would wait to see how well Blu-ray does this x-mas season, and depending on that, make it an option as well. But I believe Apple is secretly hoping Blu-ray doesn't do well for other reasons.

I think a marketing arrangement with Netflix, for special pricing on this new device, would be a huge win as well. Either Netflix's version of movies on demand, or even Apple's.

Apple should offer a new pricing model for both TV shows + movies + music, something like $19/month that gives you a set amount of rental content per month, and $5 purchase credits.

There are just way too many opportunities here, on the hardware upgrade side, and the software side, and the business side, to pass up. I think Apple would be making a huge marketing error to do simple updates without coming up with something innovative in this area. This is the time to seize the day with a revolutionary product to drive a stake in the heart of traditional satellite/cable TV industry. Apple should think big here, not small. Think corporate merger or long term partnership w/Netflix, ABC, etc.

Aww man.....

This truely sucks I was really looking forward into buying my first iMac this month...... Now I'm gonna have to wait till next year.......hopefully my current computer can still make it till next year lol.......

This really does suck. I just unloaded my iMac to replace it with a new laptop (not that it matters I was planning to do it eventually). But I wouldn't have been in such a rush if there wasn't this possibility lingering...

Oh well, still got my new MBP!!:)

It say no new products for Holidays season but didn't say no update to current machines right?

Apple has said that the Macbook is there best seller EVER. So apple is making the macbook the best seller for christmas and holding out the stuff that they don't sell as much of to clear out stocks. Think about it guys, the pros are not christmas items. DUH The ipod(ipod, Touch, and iphone) macbooks (Air consumer and pro) and the Imacs are all items a family or individual would all like for christmas. The mac mini more than likely is Christmasy type thing sorta. Apple reads this site apple understands the facts.
Facts.
Who on this site in their right mind here would buy, or tell a family member or friend to buy, a mini before this release came out? NOT A ONE.
Who on this site in their right mind would buy , or tell a family member or friend to buy, a mac pro before this release came out? NOT A ONE unless a pro in the business that really needed or could not make do until Jan or Feb without one.

Now back to reality:
Who on this site would buy or tell a family member or friend to buy, a macbook or macbook pro or Maybe a macbook air?
Apple is doing this to get people to buy a computer and clear out stock plain and simple.

The new and fabulous will be out soon. All new Pro's and all new iMacs, along with (I bet redesigned totally from the bottom up) Mini.

For those who think the mini will be updated. I really do believe the mini is dead and that its mission does not exist any longer. Don't feel sorry guys I know how it is. I bought a Power Mac G4 Cube BTO 3 months before they cancelled it. I felt like a fool until people started offering me twice what I paid for it. Made me feel good for a while. Now I will just hold onto it for 20 more years and it will be worth 10 times what I paid for it!!!!
Knock on wood!!! Hopefully..

and yes the frost does make the blade stick, along with your sidearm.

I need something more portable than a MBP...with FireWire!!!!!!!!!!!

Got going to happen from Apple... at least anymore. You'll have to wait till usb3 for similar speeds.

I have a funny feeling that the mac mini will be something like a smaller version of the MacPro with lesser hardware.

As much as I would be interested in one, the mid-range Mac tower is a pipe dream. It's not going to happen.

Damn you to hell!

As if selling computers is going to be easy THIS holiday season, the fact that ALL of the desktop Macs (Pro, iMac and mini) are long in the tooth and are overdue for a refresh is going to make for some pretty crappy results.

Speed bumps on the Pro and iMac, or any action on the mini to prove that it is still a going concern would go a long way in instilling some consumer interest in Mac desktops.

iLife/iWork-major new release at MWSF perhaps
FCS 3 in Q1 perhaps.

Mac mini is the only one without 802.11n, and still using GMA950 graphics-a 9400M GS would be great.
