I am really hoping that the entire desktop line is going to be updated in January at Macworld.

My hopes:
1- Blu-Rayacross the desktop line, except lowest end models. as a BD reading Superdrive, with paid upgrade option to BD burning Superdrive.

2- Upgraded GPU's - of course this is a no brainer, but ones capable of HDCP compliant content. and.... of course new graphics cards for existing Mac Pro's

3- Upgraded Mac Mini, iMac, Mac Pro

4- Mythical Mid-Range Tower - God knows if Apple will ever come out with this one, but it is the one model line a great many of us want.

5- New Monitor / TV line - It's time for Apple Displays with speakers built in, and HDMI inputs as well as the display port. the entire line needs to be revamped, not just 1 new model.

I laugh at some the responses in this thread. Especially this guy...

As if selling computers is going to be easy THIS holiday season, the fact that ALL of the desktop Macs (Pro, iMac and mini) are long in the tooth and are overdue for a refresh is going to make for some pretty crappy results.

Come on dude...the current imac is only 7 months old. Technology hasnt surpassed this machine enough to warrant an update. The Mini, I will give you that one. The Pro, however again is sufficient enough to do the task at hand. Most people buying a Pro dont go out and jump on the bandwagon buying a new machine every update. Apple knows this. They buy them for the long haul. So naturally the updates would be further in between.

Im glad they came out with this. I was tired of all the speculation threads about new imacs in November....give me a break. The Economy is downturning. EVERYONE is cutting back. No one is going to be "keeping up with the Joneses" in this economy. Besides, you would be complaining had you already bought a mac saying, "Ive only had my mac for xx amount of months and its already being updated?" Please:rolleyes: Apple cant make everyone happy all the time.

They have given you the green light to either wait for Macworld, or to go ahead and purchase the mac. I know the majority of you will wait, but the average consumer doesnt care about the up to date specs. So go out and enjoy waiting for macworld, or enjoy your new mac!

Man, that is a real bummer, a refresh would have been great. However, I finally checked out the new Macbook today and was blown away. That thing is actually a smidge lighter than my old Powerbook 12" (4.5 lbs vs. 4.6 lbs), and has a bigger screen!

So, so tempted. Even without a refresh, I think their product lineup is fantastic.

keep in mind if they refresh everything now, then what will they have for macworld? save macworld for the major updates.

Plus, notebooks are the top selling computer/. makes sence for them to focus on them noiw

Apple Online Store is down for an update

I just noticed the Apple Online Store just put up their "We'll be back soon--we're updating the store." Check it out.

Wow, this pretty much confirms the death of the Mac Mini. If a new version does come out, it will be after about 510 days since the last update. I don't know about you, but most people don't buy nearly two year old computers. With the current economic conditions, Apple would do everything they could to update it before the holidays. But they aren't. It is dead. The last update was August 2007 and it wasn't even announced until a Q&A session afterwords. The only thing I can see saving it would be combining it into the Apple TV, but that's a stretch. I thought Mac Mini's used to be a top selling product? My grandpa has been waiting for a Mac Mini update to switch to Mac's. He doesn't want to shell out a lot of money on something that is new to him. The mini is a good gateway for a lot of people into the world of OS X. Especially those who are tired of Vista.

OMG it's true!! That would be hilarious if they were just messing with us. But I doubt it. Though, tomorrow is a Tuesday. Personally, I'm hoping for iPhone 2.2 software. It's well overdue.

12:18 Est

12:18 EST- and the store's down...

And it's a Tuesday...

Maintenance or the release of something "not new"?

32GB iPhone and 64GB iPod Touch in Jan 2009 at MWSF. With the falling prices of NAND Flash, and the option of a 128GB HDD on the MBA its a given.

Then again with the economy its a coin toss. :p

. With the current economic conditions, Apple would do everything they could to update it before the holidays. .

That would mean they would have lower prices on the MBP too. Not all pros can spend 2 grand or more on the MBP. They should have lowered the price to at least 1699 for the base model with the high end model at 2199 or something

Look at the top of the list on the second row. It should say lexumburg. Well, click the store link again, and you see mexcio has been added...

Good eye.

But if you click on the store button from the main page (apple.com) it doesn't show Mexico. But I don't think this Mexico thing would bring down the US store page.

UPDATE: Maybe this is dealing with the Mexico store. I just checked the online store for Japan, Korea, and others and the store site is working for them. However, the store site is not working for the Mexico version of Apple's website. It's the only country through which I get the "We'll be back soon" message, besides the Apple worldwide website.

UPDATE: Ok, so it's not just Mexico. They are adding 3 new countries--Mexico, Portugal, and Taiwan. These three additional countries show up when you click on the Store button once you are already at the Store webpage.

MacWorld 09 theme - software?

I think Apple will be talking a lot about software and services at MacWorld.

iLife 09, iWork 09, MobileMe service updates, and some of their "pro" apps may get highlighted. iPhone may be due for release 2.2 about that time.

Some features from the upcoming Snow Leopard may get demonstrated too. Especially if they release new Mac Pro hardware with Core i7 chips. Apple will try to show that buying a new Mac Pro with Leopard now gets you ready for Snow Leopard later in the year. They may try to counter the Windows 7 drama that Microsoft is cooking up lately.

They may introduce new Cinema Displays (they will probably be glossy), to go along with the Mac Pro (upgrade their entire workstation setup).

The iMac will probably get newer Nvidia graphics chips and a speed bump in processors. No major redesign unless they add a new screen size.

Mac Mini? Who knows. I thought they would release a new version sometime this past year. But they are at the "fix it or kill it" stage with this model.

Hard to say if this upcoming MacWorld will wow us with something brand spanking new.

Not to menton the URL changes when mexico shows up

The URL changes from store.apple.com/us

to

store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore/

Well this is disappointing. I have been waiting for an iMac refresh. So... is there a point to checking MacRumors for the next month and a half?
