I would say about 0%. FireWire has enough juice to run a 2.5" HDD in an enclosure, so there is really no general need for having two HDDs in a laptop.
This is where things get sticky for me, my Powerbook G4 that I'm on right now has run me through the ringer in terms of falling apart these past few months. The need to update is greater than ever with the fall semester approaching and I need something to take its place.
Thing is I don't want to buy into this Back To School deal, because I know as soon as I make the purchase in late August they are going to announce something new with better specs. In all honesty I can wait for the revision to come about, but as long as it takes place around September/October it all should be good.
I've heard many different things form different people, but what are the odds of the new Macbooks coming out this fall?
Is there any chance they will update/redesign the MacBook this week? I am considering buying a Black 2.4 MacBook.
Except for performance.
I doubt it.Even if a newly designed MB is released before the end of the Back to School promo, won't they just exclude it from the promo?
I think they mean that the MBP will get the tapering design of the Macbook Air. I'm not sure what they mean about the MB though.
I doubt it.
So does anyone think that Apple will reveal the newly designed Macbook this week, and if not, when will they?
I'm really not a fan of that tapered design. I think that particular look will age really fast.
I doubt it.

We will see this sooner or later. It's just only matter of time.Let the waiting begins!!

July?
also, they wouldnt be excluded from promo. its all new macs.
this whole "redesigning" the MB is driving me crazy. . should i buy one now? wait to see if it's really going to be redesigned. . i'm so confused!!
i hope if they do redesign it, it will be shipped in time of the back-to-school promotion.
What doesn't the MacBook have now that you need? Is it realistic? Is it more productive to buy the available machine or to hold out for this/these missing feature/s?
Once you can answer those, you'll know whether to buy or not.

The Mac Mini is currently excluded.

I can answer it pretty squarely on the head: laptop design has ALWAYS been clunky. Anyone ever try using a laptop on the move? It sucks. You really need to sit down, unfold, etc.
They have needed for years to redesign the laptop into something more mobile and quick witted. It's a clumsy machine, always has been.
i keep things in other threads talking about july 13-15th... whats going on then?
(would that be intels new release?)
what keyboard cover do you use ?I hope they never put that MBA keyboard on the book at all. After using the MBP keyboard with a key cover for so long, it's become the defacto standard for laptop keys for me. When I take the cover off to wash it my fingers are in heaven when I type.
This doesn't really make sense. If there is an update, there will be something new that will benefit users. And I agree with Jnc. If there's nothing new being added that will benefit users in the next update, it's best to just get it now, and wait for the machine coming in the next two years.
