it would be cool to see an aluminum macbook but doesnt the aluminum cases mess up the wireless signal? if they could simulate a aluminum case with some other material
maybe the bottom of the MacBook could be made of plastic (I mean just the bottom bottom, excluding the sides of the bottom part -- is that confusing?)

Yes! Like the colored iPods! College students would by those up! Yellow, blue, red, green, orange, and, the newest addition, pink! Chicks dig pink laptops
That's exactly what I was going for. I really wish Apple would move all their products over to aluminum. For consumer-y products it should be colored; whereas high-end models should be brushed aluminum.

This isn't my design, but I just hope that either the MacBook AND the MacBook Pro looks like this:

Again, I did not make this.

Haha. You don't need to be on the defensive dude. Some people may hate it. Some people may like it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Let's all now play the waiting game and see if the MBs and the MBPs really
gets redesigned.:cool::D:eek::p:cool:

Wishing for MacBook Air Pro

It seems to me that if Toshiba can put a DVD writer into a 2.7 lb notebook, Apple could surely do even better. Think MacBook Air Pro, about 3.5 lbs; 1/4" thicker; 2.4 ghz Penryn; 4gb ram; 320 gb 7200 rpm SATA; 8x DVD writer; Firewire 800; same gorgeous 13.3" LED screen...

Now your talkin' baby... :D:apple:

I like it.

Thinking of getting a macbook pro, and giving my MBA to my wife. Gonna finaly get rid of the old Dell, Long memories with that thing, but gotta go.

Get er done

Haha it sounds beautiful. I think we can expect a machine just like that in Apple's next redesign of the MacBook (standard).
The redesign is likely to be any time between July and October, if multiple sources, and history are to be believed.
I'm hoping for July rather than October - just in time for back to school ^_^ .

Black Aluminum?

The problem with colored aluminum is that (i think) it shows when you get a scratch. My iPod Touch border is all scratched and it is definitely noticeable. I would stick with the regular silver.

Wouldn't that just be a top of the line MB? :p

Starting at just 19,999.00! (Plus 17% "tax") :p

Hope its July too, coloured aluminium macbooks would be awesome. Certainly help the the iPod halo effect. :apple:

When it comes to a redesign, this is the only way I think apple could improve on the current Macbook Pro. I like the current keyboard better, but I could definitely see myself getting used to the chicklet style keyboard. I'm counting on July 29 for an update, and if there is no update, and no solid evidence of a soon coming update, I will buy, and a redesign doesn't matter at all to me. I just want to take advantage of the speed bump that will come with Montevina. And if we get a case design like the one above, I will be really happy.

Provided matte screen, better speakers, swappable battery/ user accessible RAM, Ethernet, DVI, FW800, dedicated GPU and optical remained intact. ;)

What I'd really like to see in a new MBP is higher resolutions as standard, magnetic latch and perhaps larger trackpad and easy HD access. Enclosure rethink and keyboard change are at the bottom of the pile

a higher resolution screen is the only thing holding me back from upgrading from my current MB to a 15" MBP. the current resolution is terrible (especially for developing in windows which i'll be doing)

I wouldn't call it terrible, especially considering I've used MacBooks for the last two years so I really appreciated the jump! But 1680x1050 should be the new standard, or at least an option, on the 15"

i think that instead of having a fully coloured macbook, i think they should be brushed aluminium and then you should be able to choose the colour of the apple logo and the keyboard backlight.

I've been watching this thread for the past few days. Now I just gave in and made a profile. Holding off till Fall.

so here's my story. Windows user all my life except for when we used Macs in elementary school and when I took digital photography in College. I made the decision to convert to Mac probably 6 months ago and have been waiting for the Macbook Pro to get refreshed before purchasing one. I don't want to pay $2000 for a notebook and then have it outdated soon thereafter.

I'm not sure what exactly caused me to decide to switch to Mac. Maybe it's the fact that I've joined the workforce now and work 40 hrs/week on a windows machine, so I really would like to have a separation between my work and home computer experience. Maybe it's because I've started to get more serious with my web development, or maybe it's because I can actually afford one now that I've sold my soul to the corporate devil.

Anyways, I would really love to do my part to help increase the Mac market share, if only Cupertino would hurry up and release the updates. I've been patiently waiting for months and am starting to get a little annoyed. Can we at least get some leaks/new rumors in the meantime...
