argh

I just got a macbook (my 5 year old powerbook was starting to have problems and let's face it a 867mhz g4 can't run leopard so I had to buy a new machine) but still, when they do this it is kind of a pisser, but maybe they'll also drop the price of the ipod touch...sigh..

I don't like the "black keyboard on metallic body" of Macbook Air. It hurts the aesthetics of this otherwise nicely designed machine. I'd rather they use a keyboard that matches the the color of the body. Maybe we should purchase one of the "good looking" white Macbooks before it is too late.

Oh, yes, I agree, drop the combo drive!... :)

This is just more fuel to the fire without an concrete evidence. I guess EVENTUALLY they will see a design change which will make all the speculation true. I'm waiting for someone to say that they WILL and WHEN and provide EVIDENCE to support the claim. Until then, this isn't a story.

macrumors.com?

no?

ok...

Yes please. Thanks. I'm not sure the metal has much at all to do with wireless reception. Maybe a bit, but probably not much. My iMac is far away from my cheap WRT54GL linksys router and works perfectly fine. Of course it isn't all aluminum but still. I want an aluminum macbook for my first notebook computer.

...which in turn was very similar to the Titanium PowerBook G4

Keyboard was layout and colour were changed, position of ports were changed, hinge arrangement changed and the colouring went from two tone to single tone.

So yeah, they were quite different.

Very cool. I'm just admiring how seemingly ageless my TiBook is as I type this on it. For a five year old design, it's still significantly nicer than anything in the PC world. I love the look and feel of the Air, so I look forward to the new designs.

It's hard for me to see how the design of my MacBook Pro could be any better, but then I'm graphically challenged.

Maybe the new design will run 40 degrees cooler. That's about the only improvement I wish for.

I hope this is accurate. I remember reading that montevina would be around 30% - 40% smaller in size than the current Santa Rosa platform. This would seem to call for a redesign b/c the current models would have a lot of extra space. I could also see apple using that space somehow and waiting another year for the next platform, but that would probably anger the student base that wants some sweet updates. I would like to see the 16inch and 18inch screens in the mbp that acer is using in the new product line, and the 13inch and 15inch in the mb. I would update from my titanium to a macbook if it just had a larger screen. I run really old windows games in xp so graphics don't matter.

Interesting. I'd feel much more confident about this "rumor" if Apple had not updated the MBP <2 months ago. My iBook G4 is quite tired and I am in the market for a pro machine (and maybe a free iPod?). However, I would like to see among other improvements:

-A thinner (lighter) case that resembles the current iMac (black and AL)
-Improved battery life
-Blu-Ray Superdrive
-Improved speakers
-Magnetic Latch
-And this won't and shouldn't ever happen, but an ADC connector for my studio displays.

I can wait, if I have to. I guess.

I was looking at the macbook air next to my ti - design of the air was definitely a resurrection/update of the ti.

I'm hoping for a more user friendly HDD position. I am fine with where it is now but it would make life so much easier.

Any chance they use the same black metal as in the iPod Classic? I like it, i dont think it scratches that easily.

I'd like to see them add a card slot to the consumer lines. I think the next big thing in laptops is going to be net access anywhere, from cellular networks-- and this use will not be limited to pros....

I so miss think secret's "do you have any mock up?"

Please begin with the mockups!!

I'll be in NYC from the 15th of June I hope there will be something new already in the stores.
Otherwise I'll have to buy a "crappy" MBA. ;-)

AppleInsider's news of a new form factor will boost incredibly the expectations for the WWDC.

hay.

I personally prefer the plastic macbook design for two reasons. It is lighter than the metal enclosures. It picks up the wifi signal better at a farther distance in my house. With the metal enclosures, my airport express doesn't connect in the front room where I like to sit. With plastic enclosure macbook, I get a good signal pickup.

If they do this my next macbook will be a refurbished plastic one!

im just gonna sell my new MBP with multi-touch on eBay when this comes out and itll only cost about an extra $600. Nice.

Its about time apple has started upgrading their front side bus speeds. They've been underpar for awhile now, and 1066Mhz is still kinda slow considering the highest I've seen was 1666MHz and that was a year ago. They will probably increase that soon too.

That's probably due to the fact that laptop FSB speeds are much less than a desktop. Usually the Mac Pro's run at 1666 MHz. Of course, all this will be for naught when Intel releases Nehalem next year.

That will do away with the whole FSB issue and will be like HyperTransport from AMD.

Youll have to buy a crappy computer? HAVE TO?
are you serious I was under the impressions that your not forced to buy anything that is CRAPPY. I mean in general your money is worth something awesome or worthy not crappy.

I mean why would you spend your money on something you thought was crappy just to have a computer? I dont understand your logic behind HAVE TO BUY THE CRAPPY AIR.

Admantanium

How about releasing the Admantanium version of the MBP. :p

Actually I would love to see a new MBP that will be even thinner than it is now. Make it as sexy as the MBA and you've got a sure winner there.
