Apple Now Accepting Pre-Orders for iPhone 4S, Unlocked Coming in November

Only tried apple website, starting at 3:22am eastern time. After lots of time and frustration, I finally got the 'reservation' at 5am eastern. Later email from apple to 'complete order' while I was sleeping. Completed the order from apple's email at 8am.

Not as smooth as I would have liked (3:22am to 5am) but not too bad. Apple ships it to my door next Friday, all I have to do is turn it on & go through a few on screen steps.

I had the same thing replacing a grandfathered unlimited data plan. It replaced it with an iPhone 4GS unlimited data plan. So.... seems to be still unlimited for me. However, it wasn't very clear on the outset what was going to happen
 
A lame iPad 2 refresh and iPhone 4S? Boy, Apple really didn't do much in 2011. That's fine for the iPad since there aren't any legitimate competitors (yet) but the iPhone is quickly falling behind the pack (android).

Can you explain, other than a larger screen, what you found falling behind on the iphone?

disappointing for us yet, but in China/Asia this is all new and that's where most of Apple's growth/revenue will come from in the next 3-7 years. if it makes you feel any better, we'll get an iPad3 in June and the iPhone 5 in Fall '12!

i just looked... not one Android uses iOS/iCloud/iTunes natively/ect

anyway, got my two order confirmations. good to go next Friday and they kept the grandfathered in unlimited data i've had since 2007 on each one.

i agree 100%. apple put everything they could and needed into this phone to make it a success. the only thing lacking is a bigger screen.
 
Looks like no waiting in line for me this year. Hopped onto the Apple store about an hour ago and preordered with no issue. Says it delivers on the 14th!

Also, I have the 5$ messaging plan and don't want to either lose it, and there is no way to confirm the selection on either site. I CAN select the unlimited data plan though for 30$ (which is what I have had since having a 3gs iphone)

You have an at&t login? I just had to quick login to my account, change the address and go back to the preorder screen.
 
will it not let you do the in store pickup through an apple store by preordering on apples website?

i know last year they told me it wasn't a big deal to preorder, but it really was. we went there early to get in line. stood in line for about 3 hours, but they split the lines into preorders and non-preorders. they probably took a 6:1 ratio from the preorder line, so mine took a lot longer and i remember telling myself that i would never not preorder again. i was only like 50th back in the non-preorder line and it took like 3 hours to get through. i really like picking up at the apple store and the experience, but its not giving me the option. it only had the proceed button under apple online store..
 
For anyone on AT&T who needs their phone shipped to an address that's not their billing address, just call them. After being unable to get through to Apple, I tried AT&T and was only on hold for about 4 mins. The guy was super nice and promised me October 14th delivery.

Call them at 611 from your AT&T phone or 1-888-333-6651 from other phones.

Yup. Which is why Sprint only committed to buying $20 billion worth of iPhones over the next 4 years. Clearly Sprint thinks it doesn't need iPhones to remain competitive with Verizon and AT&T. :rolleyes:

This so saved my bacon on the ipad 2. Got home on purchase day, started the evening with an adult beverage, dropped ipad on patio shattering it. Amex refunded immediately, popped over to walmart, AND THEY HAD ONE!

I wouldn't say lacking. I got a 4S, so I can two more years with current the size before I am forced to go to a 4" screen.
 
I put in an order last night around 3:45 am est. The order finished. I have a temp charge on my CC but never received the confirmation email.... I am a little worried. I tried going back but it already shows I renewed my contract so I have to buy the phone for the unsubsidized price. I cant check my order on apple.com because the order status pages are broken and I cant call because the lines are full. What do I do?
 
I had no problem ordering 2 on verizon at 6:45. They were both upgrades. Start to finish in 10 minutes with no delays in loading pages.

7 Days and counting...

(I don't know why people are so down on the 4S. I care about the guts much more than the skin and the guts are great. Plus the software is unmatched and that's what will affect my happiness more than anything. The voice stuff may be a toy but if the camera allows me to leave our point-and-shoot home I'll be very happy. If a larger screen reduced battery life I'm glad they didn't go bigger. What's not to like?)

I ordered mine through Sprint directly. No issues. Got it.had to add a phone to my account to avoid paying full price, but it all worked out.(I wasn't due for upgrade)
