Plus, you won't get 3G speed since T-Mobile uses a different frequency. The primary benefit of the unlocked model in the US is that you can use it overseas with a local SIM card instead of paying AT&T's outrageous data rates.
Should I be the first to remind everyone that people are starving in many parts of the world? Oh forget it I'll only get flamed if I do that.
Anyway, hesitated to get it unlocked straight from Apple as we do not have to wait here in Canada to get unlocked phones, unlike you yanks.![]()
I put in an order last night around 3:45 am est. The order finished. I have a temp charge on my CC but never received the confirmation email.... I am a little worried. I tried going back but it already shows I renewed my contract so I have to buy the phone for the unsubsidized price. I cant check my order on apple.com because the order status pages are broken and I cant call because the lines are full. What do I do?
Yes, I'm a bit annoyed at that. They won't even tell us when in November we can order it. At least our sales taxes are lower than yours.
so, this was historically the case, with US phones from AT&T trying to operate on the t-mobile system in the USA. Question is, if this is now a truly world phone, then why wouldn't it work on the t-mobile freqs in the usa? Is t-mo international operating on a totally different frequency than t-mobile usa still for roaming?
That wont work.....its been tried...
You need to use a carrier who is not officially offering iPhone (hence the reason you would buy an unlocked in the first place)
Next you need that non-iPhone carrier to be using SIM cards (so no Virgin Mobile, etc.)
StraighTalk Nokia e71 from Walmart....it will cost you $200, but monthly is only $45

it wont let me click my unlimited data!
So would you be able to still have unlimited data on a GSM network?
I'm am confused on how this is done. (Preordering the iPhone)
I am currently in Contract with Verizon but I am eligible for an upgrade.. do I preorder the iPhone and then take it into my local verizon store and get it activated?

They advertise unlimited but they have disconnnect people for abuse. The magic number seems to be 2 gigs...not written anywhere, but its a soft cap.
yesWill I be able to keep my unlimited plan in AT&T if I upgrade my phone?
