Looks like no waiting in line for me this year. Hopped onto the Apple store about an hour ago and preordered with no issue. Says it delivers on the 14th!

Seems the rumors of mass production back in August may have been true and Apple is poised to meet demand on day one.

Still trying to decided if I want to upgrade my 4 to the 4s. I love the idea of the A5 and better camera. Not sure I'd use Siri much, but maybe so? I'll wait to try one after they're out and see if it's worth it.

can't

You have an at&t login? I just had to quick login to my account, change the address and go back to the preorder screen.

I tried that, but on the address change page it says "cannot change bill since this is your first bill" Which is about 120 billing cycles late!

So let me get this straight:

If I bought an iPhone 4S unlocked, would I be able to get on one of those $50 unlimited prepaid plans from say AT@T? If not, the choice is easy

currently

For anyone on AT&T who needs their phone shipped to an address that's not their billing address, just call them. After being unable to get through to Apple, I tried AT&T and was only on hold for about 4 mins. The guy was super nice and promised me October 14th delivery.

Call them at 611 from your AT&T phone or 1-888-333-6651 from other phones.

currently says sales is closed

Sprint

I apologize if this has been answered already but I am not going to read 15 + pages. Anyone else having issues trying to order off Sprint. Every time I get to checkout it states my card's number is not valid. I tried two others and same result and I am trying to call Sprint and the wait times are loooooong.

Note* this is a new account, switching from AT&T(Horrible in my area)

Thanks

Pre-order in Canada

It's possible on apple.ca to buy unlocked iPhones 4S starting at 649$

Can't select in-store pickup

Hi guys, I got my pre-order in last night and am completing my order at this moment. However, I can't find the option for Apple to let me pick up my phone in-store. Help would be greatly appreciated!

The lesson for Apple to learn from this is that they cannot rely on their partners to make for a flawless launch. They just don't have the bandwidth to handle the number of customers that Apple drives to them during a launch --- even a supposedly disappointing new model that should have been far better after sixteen months.

At least partially BS. This launch was screwed from the get go. Are you going to try to blame the fact that The Apple Store was down well after 12:01 Pacific time on AT&T? That a lot of people got multiple buggy time outs on the apple store when it finally did go up even before it got the the eligibility check bottleneck? That many people got error messages AFTER that bottleneck?

Also, there were several periods where people could order from all the various partner sites, but not Apple Store.

Sure, there were issues with the carriers, but just as many seemed to stem from the Apple Store itself. Which is understandable, I don't doubt that this would be the most people ever trying to order a product at one time from Apple. But I think it's kind of laughable to blame this all on the cell phone companies. There were a lot of issues that could have nothing whatsoever to do with the various cell phone companies.

Re:

A lame iPad 2 refresh and iPhone 4S? Boy, Apple really didn't do much in 2011. That's fine for the iPad since there aren't any legitimate competitors (yet) but the iPhone is quickly falling behind the pack (android).

Another one that can't afford an iPhone... LOL

My wife an I both have the iPhone 3GS on an ATT family plan. I am trying to upgrade both of them to the 4S on Apple's site, but I can't find an option for that. The closest thing I could find was "Replace a phone on my account with a new iPhone" but when I do both phones this way it says I have too many iPhones in my cart.

Does anyone know if this is possible through Apple?

From what people are being told, this won't be an option. There will be stock at Apple Stores, but it's first come first served. If you preorder you get delivery. If you want to buy at a store you better get there early as possible on Friday and stand in line.

I was going to preorder on AT&T by upgrading then I got this...

fu.. that...

On Apple's site, when I got to that screen, it showed me my current $30 unlimited plan. I haven't yet pulled the trigger, since I'm waiting for the unlocked version, but the indication was that it would let me keep what I have.

Apple's reservation system pulled through.. Took a quick nap, ordered my phone and Applecare+ and now headed to the airport..

Thanks for all the love 3GS, time to make you into an iPod :)

That wont work.....its been tried...
You need to use a carrier who is not officially offering iPhone (hence the reason you would buy an unlocked in the first place)

Next you need that non-iPhone carrier to be using SIM cards (so no Virgin Mobile, etc.)

StraighTalk Nokia e71 from Walmart....it will cost you $200, but monthly is only $45

Thanks for the info! Also, is there a way that I can switch my address to my current address? It still has my old address in the books and I don't want it shipped there, and I cannot find an option to let me switch shipping locations.

Well, I pre-ordered (reservation is cancellable) but my carrier has not yet released pricing nor do they provide eligibility to upgrades info. God I suddenly hate my carrier. Both Telus and Bell provide the info on their websites, but no, not crap Rogers.

Anyway, hesitated to get it unlocked straight from Apple as we do not have to wait here in Canada to get unlocked phones, unlike you yanks. :D

Applecare+ business discount

Got my iPhone reserved on apple.com and trying to complete the order now but I can't seem to apply my corporate discount to applecare (using their reservation system I'm not in the 'corporate discount' store and if I go to the corporate discount store it doesn't save my cart with my iPhone in it from the reservation system).

I see that using the corporate discount will make applecare+ only $87

Anyone else able to get this to work?

I tried calling Apple but they are so busy that they don't even put you on hold - just says to call back later.

Plus, you won't get 3G speed since T-Mobile uses a different frequency. The primary benefit of the unlocked model in the US is that you can use it overseas with a local SIM card instead of paying AT&T's outrageous data rates.
