Meanwhile Lenovo is letting you engrave your laptop. Choose your own custom text or predefined phrases such as, "Go away! I'm working!"

I, personally, think this is stupid, but I can see a lot of people loving the option. It would be even more popular if they let you use your own, custom-made memoji (or whatever they're called).

A company that provides what consumers want? Yes, what a horrible organization they have become. The $300 share price reflects that they are becoming the worst and trashiest thing in the world. /s 😆

There are people that love stuff like this and if anything, this will sell more AirPods. Apple does not care what you consider trashy or classy. They are here to sell things and make money.

Thanks Tim

Maybe this reduces the resale market for AirPods because personalized products are less likely to be resold?

But then again, how many consumers actually will engrave their AirPods? Probably not many at all, because they're not willing to spend the extra money for something like this. Also, I suspect the AirPods are probably the one of the lesser popular products that are _not_ resold from consumers, simply because of being in someone else’s ears.

I think this is a good idea. In a family with more than one set of AirPods, it can help distinguish mine from yours. My dad and my wife have identical MacBooks Airs. External markings are the only way to tell them apart. Having an external emoji or initials may be better than other forms of identification.

Some dopes will buy a new pair just to get the engraved case, so while no charge for the engraving, additional sales = more $$ for Apple.
Apple is making money by selling products?
Oh my ****ing god! Why didn't anybody told me that before?

And no, there are not many people who buy a new pair of AirPods, just to get a more or less stupid emoji on it's case. Maybe a few, but they were not making Apple significantly richer.
AirPods are a cash cow by their own. No matter if there is an emoji engraving on it or not.

While some of you don't seem to understand this, I do.
An emoji like an Icon/Logo is much faster to recognise than text.
If there's a family with multiple AirPods this would be easier for them to
know which one belongs to the right person.

This got me thinking about kids being naughty and swapping the AirPods inside the cases. It's just 15 minutes to midnight, I best sleep.

Apple engraves poop onto one of their best products of the decade and people on MacRumors: NICE

Just sayin.

To be fair, there aren't many of us left who were on MacRumors in 2005 and 2020, so different crowds. And yes, I was on here lurking for years before I joined in 2007.

I would instantly buy if it can be engraved with *

That’s not appropriate at all and would be a poor business practice by Apple to allow the ‘middle finger’ to be engraved on the AirPods. What you’re suggesting is actually derogatory and is an obscene gesture. I’m sure Apple is perfectly fine not having a sale from you knowing this.
