That’s not appropriate at all and would be a poor business practice by Apple to allow the ‘middle finger’ to be engraved on the AirPods. What you’re suggesting is actually derogatory and is an obscene gesture. I’m sure Apple is perfectly fine not having a sale from you knowing this.
I think you are taking his comment way too seriously.

But Apple is not really marketing this, it’s just on their webpage when you go to order the AirPods. So how many consumers actually know that this feature is even available? It’s Not like they’re putting billboards or commercials on a simple engraving on the AirPods, it’s just a new option added when you go to order. I doubt consumers would probably return the AirPods simply just for a smiling emoji for example.

Good point :)

There’s nothing wrong with that. This is a public Forum for discussion and I stated my opinion that I think it’s not appropriate for a ‘middle finger’ to be engraved on the AirPod Case. You don’t have to agree with it or like it, but it doesn’t stop my mindset that I believe Apple would completely side with what I have to say on that.

Gosh dang it, I know I shouldn’t but I feel ripped off that I didn’t have this option when I got my AirPods. So much better than something boring like “my AirPods”

While some of you don't seem to understand this, I do.
An emoji like an Icon/Logo is much faster to recognise than text.
If there's a family with multiple AirPods this would be easier for them to
know which one belongs to the right person.

While this may work. I would think that the persons name would be easier

anything to make a dime, not sure if the engraving is "free" or not but there will be some who will buy a new one just to get it. "the can't live without Apple's latest crowd"
Not sure what you mean by "free." If you mean to say that it costs Apple to implement or affects the resell value of the product, then okay. But as the consumer, you can always choose not to have it engraved.🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice to have options, but engraving always kills the resale value. On the upside, if your AirPods are stolen at least you will be able to identify your case, assuming no one else takes the 💩 emoji...

Free, as in no extra cost to the consumer, to have it engraved. Can't believe I have to explain the word "free"

And yes the engraving is free to the consumer. Might cost apple a few cents, but they'll will be those that will have to have it and buy a new air pod case

Kinda making me want black & white emojis now.

They do this for “free” to destroy the second hand value by reducing the appeal to a perspective buyer. If you remember they used to engrave your name on to iPods for “free” for the same reason.

Basically makes them un-returnable also

Good work. Another useless thing. Apple please fix your software and stop wasting time on stupid pictures and crappy tv shows.

It saddens me to see what Apple has become. Getting trashier by the day.

Yeah man. They used to be so much classier.

By what logic is the middle finger “derogatory and obscene”, but a pile of poo is A-OK?

Engraving is nice; until you want to sell your AirPods.

I don’t think there really is that much of a ‘resale market’ for the AirPods. I mean, there are some do sell them, but I think generally people keep these, because they’re not like an iPhone/iPad or MacBook in terms of reselling them with a higher value. Plus, I think it’s a major ‘turn off’ for the hygienic value of these being in somebody else’s ears, at least that’s my thoughts.

1.) You're probably better off contacting Apple if you have a ‘software concern’ or reporting a bug through their website versus trying to throw some rant on a tech site.

2.) Those ‘crappy’ TV shows are actually doing really well. Viewer ratings/‘tune-in’ numbers have been exceeding expectations. [‘The Morning Show’ being one of the top performers.]

WOW. Very ****ing useful
Ha ha......deeper into the sewer of lack of taste and sheer stupidity. But, masses will dig into their piggy banks and purchase this option, making Tim and others richer.
People bashing Apple for penny pinching but the engraving is free. However, it's stupid.

This is new? I got my daughter’s iPod touch engraved about a decade ago.
"A great big rollercoaster, packed full of geniuses, all going whee!"

Long enough ago that you can't blame Cook.

Engraving isn't new. The title of the article should answer your question more fully...
