My eagerness to get my hands on this thing was bad enough before -- now it's to the hilt!!!!! Why isn't it Saturday yet???!!! :D

As for the printing options with the iPad I have the feeling that someone will have to come up with an app, and that otherwise one would send one's document to iWork.com and then either be able to print there or download from there (or import/export) to one's own machine and print from one's computer. This is what I'm guessing from watching the video, as there was indeed NO mention of printing at all, just the iWork.com site and other possible ways of sharing one's document.

whats with that ladies shoes (on the left). her toes are like coming out of here. looks like she has a few sizes too large shoe.

Maps

Hey,

has anybody noticed that Maps are missing, i have a feeling the google fight is forcing Apples hand...... Worried here

Am i the one who couldn't stop laughing at the letter-boxing of 'HD' videos.

I dunno...i'm just not convinced about the device.

I can't stop laughing at those who think that the entire device should be in 16:9 format simply to accommodate one of its many use cases.
Clue folks... a 16:9 device would be appropriate only if HD movie viewing was it's the sole purpose. It would be useless and ugly for everything else, and movie viewing will be close to the bottom of most people's main uses.

Looks like apparently it's a requirement to prop your legs up when using the iPad. Did you guys notice that in just about all the videos, aside from the ones where they were using it at a desk?

Also, good point about the printing...kind of lame that there is no option to print to a wireless printer. Maybe with a future upgrade?

Agreed. It's a great way to watch movies and television... but I want to do more with my iPad than just watch movies. The form-factor seems well-suited to a variety of tasks. The letterboxing won't bother me.

i probably won't put any movies on the ipad if i get it. i think i'd use it more as a web browser, photo viewer and gaming device.

What do you mean? They used the Maps a few times in the guided tours.

Yeah but if you look at the iphone they where one of the strongest promoted items, same in the early demos, look at maps, look at this etc, now they dont even have there own entry on the left

Stop Teasing Already! :p

Still no price or release date for my region... Could be a good thing of course, having plenty of time to see what other people say first and being able to make an informed purchase.

I'm freaking out!

Thank you Apple for giving us these nice guided tour... It's making the wait unbearable!!!

One thing I have always said and will say forever...

Apple KNOWS Software and design. Look at the GUI in action. Wow!!! Looks just as good as when I seen it at The Bay.:apple:

I was originally thinking of using the photos app to show my photography portfolio. Instead I think I'll use keynote its has some nice transition and framing options.

From looking at the iWork guided tour videos there is no doubt that printing is not going to be an option. Bummer :(

You can print direct from an iPhone do I would imagine you can from an ipad. Try air print sharing or there is also one from HP. Probably others as well.

Anthony - I believe it all depends on whether or not you're using POP, Exchange Server, etc.

Because some of my email addresses don't give me the option to continue to search on the server and some do...

Hmm. Well, fwiw on my (definitely) IMAP accounts I don't get that option on my iPhone. Hmmm.

Also - another neat thing: they *did* show the 'upload to iWork' choice in Pages.

They also show the coverflow style 'document manager' in both Pages and Keynote. They seem separate. BUT, within Pages they double clicked on a chart in a document, and it flipped to reveal the underlying spreadsheet from which the chart was created. That's pretty cool.

Hmmm indeed. Looks like after checking all my accounts - it's only the Gmail hosted one that I get the option...

Trillian app?

In the iBooks tour (00:13) is that an icon of the app Trillian ?? That'd be great news!

Yikes that's not good! Hope that's not the case on the iPad :(

Another interesting tidbit - in addition to uploading to iWork.com you can Export as a PDF or Pages (or Numbers, etc. ) document "to use on your computer" though it doesn't say where that document would live. I guess that's the "Save" command that puts the doc into the storage bin?

Also, each of the iWork apps has a wrench icon in the upper right. None of the videos touched it near as I can tell. Settings? File system?

I would imagine settings based on the icon. And interesting indeed if it can go direct to PDF.

Do you think there will be functionality with PDFs though beyond viewing? IE - delete pages within pdfs, merge pdfs, copy from pdf/paste into pages, etc?
