There already is a Trillian app, and because of cross-compatibility with iPhone apps, it doesn't necessarily mean it's an iPad version. In the iBooks tour (00:13) is that an icon of the app Trillian ?? That'd be great news!

From looking at the iWork guided tour videos there is no doubt that printing is not going to be an option. Bummer![]()
I would imagine settings based on the icon. And interesting indeed if it can go direct to PDF.
Do you think there will be functionality with PDFs though beyond viewing? IE - delete pages within pdfs, merge pdfs, copy from pdf/paste into pages, etc?
Am i the one who couldn't stop laughing at the letter-boxing of 'HD' videos.
I dunno...i'm just not convinced about the device.

That'd be nice, though given Apple's track record it strikes me as a later rather than sooner option!
See - for me - these are reasons why the iPad (for me) can't replace my laptop or computer. There's functionality I need which at this time doesn't exist.
Well that - and the fact that Final Cut Pro would be impractical on the iPad...
Yep - make a sort of support by crossing your legs, lean back with your feet on the desk, or curl up on a sofa adopting an odd cradling sort of pose. The software looks really slick, the hardware form factor looks very awkward to me!Looks like apparently it's a requirement to prop your legs up when using the iPad. Did you guys notice that in just about all the videos, aside from the ones where they were using it at a desk?
Oh okay . . . I never saw the iPad as a replacement for my computer, netbook, iPhone or any other device I own. But to each his/her own![]()
You probably are the one.
I don't think 16:9 would work as well as 4:3 for any of the other uses aside from video, especially in portrait mode.
I can't stop laughing at those who think that the entire device should be in 16:9 format simply to accommodate one of its many use cases.
Clue folks... a 16:9 device would be appropriate only if HD movie viewing was it's the sole purpose. It would be useless and ugly for everything else, and movie viewing will be close to the bottom of most people's main uses.
yeah, like others here i believe you're probably one of many who don't have a clue.
i'll point out something that others haven't yet. not all Widescreen movies are 16:9!!! bet you didn't know that?!
so even if you had a 16:9 device you would continue to have the black bars (letterboxing) for many of the movies you'd see.
for reference these are the most common aspect ratios:
4:3 (1.33:1)
3:2 (1.5:1)
16:9 (1.78:1)
1.85:1
2.39:1
given that most digital photography is in an aspect ratio different than these, then you'd end up with letterboxing when looking at pictures too.
when it comes to a PDA type device, whether it plays video or not, i think the best course is to use an aspect ratio more in tune with piece of paper than anything else.
Enjoy Windows and overheating puny laptops.w00t!
Just got my Alienware M11x from Fedex while reading this thread and watching the videos. Enjoy your lame iPads.

This is one device I could see myself using for church, home, work, school, and traveling. Apple nailed it.
Numbers and Pages in particular look fab - but I personally still don't see why I'd take this anywhere over and above my iPhone or my MBP, and considering the iPad replaces neither, I still won't be buying one.
All good and looks great but when do we get it in UK and for how much???![]()
Dear Steve , any chance of a f****in uk release date and price please!!
Videos look awesome.
