I’ve been using AT&T next for the last few years but now I’m going to start using IUP since I will likely switch carriers within the next few months. Does anyone know if the carrier billing needs to match the billing address/name for the IUP application? The account is listed in WA but my address is in TX.

They don’t need to match. Been doing it this way (UT vs WA) since iUP has been in place.

If I join the Apple Upgrade program and pay with Apple Card, do I get 3% on each months payment?

Yes you do.

I was going to skip this round of updates for the first time ever, but the 4-hour longer battery life was just enough to nudge me over.

If you get the green check next to “pre-approval,” does that mean you’ve been approved...? Or just that you submitted the application?

For me it’s the camera. But the battery life is fantastic too. Says someone who just traded in his Nintendo switch for v2 for the 2.5 hour -> 4.5 hour improvement on Zelda Breath of the Wild

The only people buying this phone are going to be the camera nerds. 90% of all current iPhone owners think their camera is fine enough by today’s standards. They’re posting **** on Facebook and cropping and slapping filters onto it in Instagram. There aren’t millions of users just holding off on camera upgrades and that don’t give a **** about A13. I don’t see this phone selling well.

I’m running into this issue as well with T-Mobile. Mine is on a business account. Not sure if that matters.

It would have to be your business account with matching number, billing address, and social

Just went through the process. Ready for ordering on Friday for once not at an ungodly hour on a weeknight.

Not to be a buzzkill but the two times I’ve done Apple’s financing/upgrade they made me confirm my AT&T account and made me take the AT&T (Intel) version of the iPhone upon signing up. Even when I said I wasn’t under contract and was thinking of switching within a few months. They said I’d have to switch first and come back. This was the 7 and the X fully financed by Citizen One at an Apple Store. I just don’t understand why it’s even any of Apple’s business what carrier I have/plan to have. They should sell it to me as a paperweight for all they care. But clearly they were protecting their supply chain / profits by enforcing this rule.

This is probably not a thing anymore though because I believe all the phones are Intel now so I don’t really see a benefit for Apple anymore.

My signal has been absolutely garbage ever since I got the Intel models from Apple. I get no signal in 1/3 of large stores / buildings where I always had signal before. Considering I’m probably keeping the X another year, I’m really kicking myself for not paying full price at a Best Buy to get a Qualcomm version.

I'm glad Apple realized that ordering a phone at 3 AM on the East Coast is not exactly a great customer experience, 8 AM is much more reasonable.
That depends on your schedule...7 AM Central is during my daily commute so I’ll have to wait until arrival to preorder. This is my first time pre-ordering before launch so I’m hoping the delay doesn’t hurt too much.

Does anyone know if two pre-approvals is possible? I did it for mine but I have two phones in the upgrade program. One is mine and one is my wife’s, I wonder if I could somehow get another pre-approval for her phone too?

I did. As I purchase my mother’s phone every year.

Apple Sales notes that you may have to log out of the Apple store app and switch to the other account. Same when doing the actual purchase.

Agreed. That’s the same decision I made.

I’m not sure why I have such a hard time understanding all the options. I currently have an iPhone XS that I got from Verizon, which I pay through their device payment plan.
I want to get my phone through Apple from now on.
What’s the best way to trade in my current phone and jump to the Apple program?
If I trade in with Apple they will give me $500 for my phone but then I have to pay it off with Verizon, which there is about $600 left the payments I’ve made since last September. So I lose about $100.
Then Apple has two financing options, one with monthly payments and one with monthly payments that include the option to upgrade each year and Apple Care?
I’m not sure I’m clear. What is my best option and why am I so confused by the Apple “payment” options?

Hey guys if someone can answer this question I’d be very grateful.

I have Verizon (corporate plan) so I have to enter in the carrier details of a friend’s account. They have AT&T.

Even though I’m doing iPhone Upgrade Program, do you think AT&T has a lock on the phone? I plan on just popping out the SIM Card before turning on the new phone and putting my Verizon SIM in.

I don’t think I’ll have an issue, but heard something weird that AT&T locks phones no matter what for 30-60 days.

I'm buying for bigger screen + battery life. You don't know me.

Does anyone know if I need to use the iPhone for the preorder after the approval? I already did the preapproval, but right know I'm using another phone and won't have an iPhone with me when the preorders open. Can I just complete the order on the web or through an iPad and still use my preapproval?

In the pre-approval email it is stated that you have to use the Apple Store app on your iPhone. I'm not sure if the iPad would work. I would contact customer service.

Confirm carrier step keeps failing for Tmobile for past hour I'm assuming the Tmobile servers are overloaded.

Is this USA only? I can’t find the option in the UK app.
Slightly different here - it says that you're eligible, but have to come back on Friday (1pm) to book into a store to get phone and process the AUP stuff.

Any T-Mobile users here? I’m not have any luck. Keeps telling me to try later. I contacted T-Mobile but they didn’t even know what the iPhone upgrade was.

- yes - I am getting error message when entering last 4 of SS#

You kidding me? 3 AM is much better than 8 AM -- the absolute worst time possible.

This is smack-dab in the middle of commute times.

Same error for last several hours. This looks like an issue on Tmo's end. Let's bombard them with tweets so they can fix it.
