I'm actually glad this didn't work out because Qi wireless charging is garbage.

But with that said, I can't believe they just flat out cancelled this. What is going on at Apple?

Anyone has any wireless charge recommendations? That will charge my iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods? I heard about the Nomad charging hub but was wondering if there are other similar products.

Oh well. I guess I’m going to return my new AirPods.

A trillion dollar company that can’t pull of a charging mat. What a joke.

My AirPods didn’t have the AirPower on it. Could of been a mistake with the first batch.

For AirPods 2 w/ wireless charging case, there is a text reference to it on the side of the box near the serial number barcode.

The separately-available charging case ($79) has an actual drawing of AirPowr on the back of the box.

Yeah, just like them killing AirPorts... right at a time when we need quality secure networking, with Bluetooth/ZigBee/WiFi mesh capabilities to make all this ‘Home’ stuff actually work. Instead, nope...

They got leapfrogged on HomeKit by Amazon and Google, and it hasn't been the same. I figure Airport networking was an idea they had to either keep up with yearly with firmware/hardware or throw in the towel.

Pretty crappy that they did this immediately AFTER they finally launched the new case for Airpods. There were surely many people who opted to buy them in anticipation of the Air Power. The engineering issues are what they are, but the timing of this is ham-fisted and beneath the Apple that I used to know.

Ouch. This is a big failure for Apple. There are many 3rd party chargers that allow multiple devices to charge simultaneously. Hell Samsung has one that will charge two phones at the same time. Announced in 2017 and after numerous delays, it just gets cancelled. Not a good look for Apple and can’t remember this ever happening to them. Usually if they announce it, it’s coming and soon.

Maybe this will help them to not announce things so far in advance or give a “sneak peak” as it builds up unobtainable hype. (Then again, they do this as a way to entice customers to stay and also keep pace with competitors)

But...it's not April 1st yet...:(

This is an April fools joke-- if they knew this today, they knew it a month ago and wouldn't advertise it on the AirPods 2 box. They know how thirsty the tech media is for this.

On Monday prepare to hear "April Fools!"-- AirPower is shipping TODAY!

Yeah, they obviously thought they could resolve the issues...apparently until really recently. Oh well.

I guess you could stretch the graphic being a generic charging mat.

But I saw someone posted that AirPower is explicitly mentioned on the box also?

Phil would love to laugh at everyone. Amazing if Tim Apple approved this.
