well...
Please forgive me for not reading over 300 posts so this may already have been said, but I'll say it anyway.
PowerMac and PowerBooks are pro-level machines. Pros buy what they need when they need it, or, as is usually the case, when they can afford it. Pros are not holiday-driven. Consumers are holiday-driven.
Therefore I find it quite unlikely that Apple would release new PowerMacs and PowerBooks with the Christmas (or other) holiday in mind.
That's not to say that new PowerLine (did I just make that up or has it been used before, either way I like it) hardware won't be released shortly given their dire need for upgrades.
Obviously there are exceptions to every rule and some of you may well be realisticly expecting PowerLine hardware under your tree (or other symbol of significance) but I find it hard to believe that you would be in the majority.
So what would be significant enough to warrant such an event?
Well, a video enabled iPod would be as would a related video download store.
New PowerBooks might be..., I'm not sure.
New PowerMacs might be..., but again I'm not sure. It would have to be a significant upgrade such as dual core processors or PCIe (did I get the acronym correct? you know what I mean).
Announcing all three together? Again I'm not sure but I doubt it. A consumer-level product like the video iPod announcement would be watered-down by a co-announcement of new PowerLine hardware, wouldn't it?
Just my thoughts. Feel free to dissagree, just please do it gently.
