Yes we are crazy .... next.

If it plays Video (even music videos) won't that make it an iPod Video?

it IS coming. Only the type of content is in doubt.
there is no content doubt. iTVS. there is no other way to do it. and iQuit, you could store a ton on there. dvds are usually 2-7GB. full quality. do the mp3 audio, and the 3 inch screen they will have on these things, and you will be able to cram 50 movies on, plus a nano sized music collection, assuming they were 20GB.

"iPod Video- 10 movies in your pocket". Good enough.

As long as I can fit "Wizard of wOzniak"

Seriously, if we were to use reasonable compression, how many movies could we fit in 80Gb?

more

my pennies:
jobs realizes that they got it right with the nano, and the nano will become THE music player to have for the next 9 months. with the nano being so perfect, apple is free to experiment with the ipod.... i'll take my video ipod in black, please.

How about widescreen displays accross the laptop productlines

A 40 " LCD display for the Powermac G5s.

A 23 " iMac G5 with 2.5 GHZ single-core G5 .

2 GHZ , 2.3 GHZ , 2.5 GHZ Dual-core Powermacs .

They are not necessarily "movie" curtains...they are just curtains. Curtains are always used to hide things they don't want you to see.

Besides, what theater have you been to that have curtains over the whole screen?

As in Curtains that cover Windows? :D Could be a an unlocked quad band gsm phone slash pocket pc like device w/ the mac osx mobile version vs. windows mobile 5.0 w/ wi-fi, BT, video playback, 3MP camera (stills and video), 80GB, slash video gaming device  that could still play music

Or perhaps the curtains are a metaphor for the long-overdue death of the eMac.

Curtains, eMac. Curtains.

And bring back the Lisa while you're at it, Steve.

There are other things to consider such as battery life, form factor, transfer speed, space, and screen size. I honestly just think that there will not be a video iPod anytime soon, and if they come out with one they're late....and they probably wouldn't be able to compete with what an MP4 player has to offer. iPod is good at one thing....and that is music.

Yeah, curtain is movie or widescreen related.

Widescreen PBs for HD?

I hope its an new Airport Express for s-video so I can stream QT or VLC...

Video iPod, I guess...

Why would Apple register a .org when it doesn't even have www.mac.org ?
It could be a lot of things. mammals.org is aliased to apple.com too, but Mammals is just the name of a trivia club that includes some Apple people.

2.5 Ghz G5 on iMac is too hot- remember 2.5 Ghz G5 needs liquid cooling.

More likely for iMac's are dual core G5s at 1.8 and 2.0 Ghz, or even 1.6 and 1.8. 2 processors at 1.6 would likely be better than 1 at 1.8.
Remember, the dual core G5 is pin compatible with the single core version, so no need to change the motherboard.

An idea

A look at 2005 for Apple:
- iLife 05 and iWork
- The iPod shuffle
- The mac mini
- The Stock Soars and Splits
- The second-gen iPod mini
- Mac OS X Tiger
- The Mighty Mouse
- The Intel Announcment
- The Death of the iPod mini
- The Rise of the iPod nano
- The merge of the iPod photo
- Podcasting
- The ROKR Phone (boo! hiss!)
- iTunes 5

And one more thing...

Speculating on iPod and iTunes updates...

Apple is using the same location as last year's iPod announcement.

They sent an invitation to an iPod-, iTunes-centric Web site - iLounge.

The statement "One more thing..." is timeline dependent. One more thing comes after the last thing... announced. Wasn't the iPod nano the last thing announced?

I like the idea of a 40GB and 80GB range for the new iPods, but that leaves a massive hole between the 4GB nano and the 40GB iPod. Might Apple keep the 20GB iPod? Is there business rationale for keeping a gap that large between the nano and the iPod? Is there room to squeeze a new iPod into that spot?

I don't see a video iPod, but I do see an iPod that supports video. Apple went away from the iPod photo and released iPods that support photos. I think Apple has found a good formula that uses smart feature upgrades to keep their winning iPods one or two steps ahead of competition.

iTunes is quite buggy and fixes haven't been forthcoming. Perhaps Apple is holding out releasing a 5.0.2 bug fix for a 5.1 feature release that supports the new iPods.

My two cents.

POWER RANGE

Please powerbooks. And for all you powermac users...please powermacs. But iPods, give them a break and update them later,

We need powerbooks. Sooooo critical. Please a white silver casing. That would look hot. My lime green iBook never fails me but really.....it won't even run tiger.

Like everybody else here I'm looking forward to this highly anticipated event. Very interested in the new Powerbook but am not holding my breath to be honest. Well, just trying not to get too carried away like some here and risk sounding like I'm smoking iPot.

;)

PM updates?

If they update PM...what will they announce @ MWSF? the event is probably just announcement for the new ipod video and mac mini..

PM and powerbook will probably announce @ MWSF...

new iPods - NO VIDEO - 40,60,80 gig versions. Form factor remains mostly the same, possibly slightly smaller than current

VideoPod - the so-called video ipod will be released in the form of a 10" iBook.

iBooks - new 10" model, marketed as the Video iPod. Also available in 13" and 15" versions. All versions are widescreen resolutions. All models will have the freescale dual-core g4 in them.

PowerBooks - 13", 15", 17" versions. All will be widescreen HD. All will have either freescale dual-core g4 (probably most likely) or single core g5.

iMac - stays largely the same. Possible upgrade to dual core g5 chips.

PowerMac - Dual Dual-core G5

This will be a major upgrade to every single line and will allow the PPC to go out with a bang before intels start coming. Oh and these models will all lose their G* designations. As of these models apple will introduce some kind of new naming scheme in preparation for intels. It is very possible that there will be no specification at all other than "iMac," "PowerMac," etc.

newb, apple wont release a 10" ibook. There's no market for that, they need product differentiation.
