Steve Jobs does like to hint at what will be released at these events.

With the 1000 songs in your pocket event he introduced the Nano.

I believe as many have suspected it will be the introduction of the Video Store, along with a supported iPod.

1. Red Curtains, brings the Cinema to mind with a spotlight.

I do not see anything else. :)

The 80-gig iPod is pretty much a given. We've known about Toshiba bringing the 40-gig and 80-gig 1.8 inch HDD's to market for a while.

There are whispers of refreshes in the 'Power' line.

But something tells me there's more ...

And we cannot have HD without a PowerMac!!!!

I just sat back and thought about the PowerMac... we have not had anything exciting happen in regards to us Pros in almost 2.5 years.... Dangnummit Apple! Give us Artists, Designers, Editors and such something to wet ourselves over!

I'm getting tired of every Special Event being centered around the iPod.

Forgive me for sounding like a jackass (it's a habit of mine...) but why all the anticipation for new iPods? I don't own an iPod, myself, but what is it about the current ones that you are all hoping to see changed/improved?

Because... we-- I-- we all-- twitch with happiness-- when-- when-- when new-- Apple product-- now-- ah, soon-- yes, soon-- iPod, good, Macintosh, good-- yes, yes...

If this is an iPod capable of playing video on-screen it'll suck.. If it has video-out on the other hand... Gimme Gimme Gimme!
You haven't seen a PSP in the flesh, have you?

I want a PSP, but I want it to be an iPod with an 80GB HDD, and I don't care at all about the gaming.

might wanna think about a switch to decaf.

Anywhoo - The prospect of a iTMS video store seems very interesting, and this could be a good vehicle for releasing it. And with a video store, the introduction of a larger-format ipod-esque video player seems to make a bit more sense. A rollout of content plus player at the same time could be very interesting indeed.

Or they could just be introducing Apple-branded m&m's. Who knows.

It bloody well better be the iPod Video, just in time to put a world of hurt on the products of Creative and Archos.

I'd also hope that they introduce a G5 Mac Mini so that a person could actually use it as a media machine capable of handling HD video content, thus truly capping 2005 as "the year of HD".

Now, with that having been said, I would be VERY disappointed if the existing iPod Photo (I own one) and iPod Color models could not handle video considering we all know they have such capable chipsets inside them.

And I think putting the iPod Video out now is a response to the growing interest in UMD video on the Sony PSP and a concentrated effort to rain on Sony's parade for this upcoming holiday season.

I am still very disappointed in Apple for not having bought TiVo yet. When will they come to their senses? Grab the home theatre market before Microsoft improves the Media Center platform enough to establish a foothold there.

Just as Apple moves music my guess is they will now move movies. Think columbia house only movies and you can order and store any movie you want on your Mac to your pod from your pod to your Mac? itunes now imovie?

What I would like is a new Mac half the size of Powermac with Intels fastest chip,7800 video card, plenty of ram and out of this world looks,Silent operation and can run Windows and MacOS. Now that would be cool. Have my Mac and my Gaming Machine.

It has got to be movies simply because of the forbidden link on Apple's site. When you type in any other bogus URL to try to dig something up, it takes you to their custom 404 page. As much as I think it would have been too hard to keep this a secret, I'm now thinking this has to be the announcement.

It could of course, be in conjunction with a video ipod.

I would prefer a smaller screen, with the video output options. I want to keep the overall size of the iPod about the size of the current ones. I might watch a little video content from time to time on the iPod, but it would be great to hookup to your TV with A/V cables.

Maybe it's one of their famous double entendre's? One more thing from the PowerPC line to knock your socks off before we transition to intel?

I agree and like this idea. What else could "one more thing" mean? Unless it's an iPod video that Apple didn't want to have in the same keynote as the nano, because people would be asking when the nano would get video.
Let's not get our hopes up until this event is confirmed. :)

Where's podfuture? He'll know what's going on ;)

Okay, I suspect "One more thing..." implies updated iPods. It's an additional announcement to the iPod Nano announcement and the only thing that would work is updated iPods. Video-playing iPods. The red curtains are implying cinema. Glad to know I'll have something to buy with my first real paycheck :)

I think PowerBook and PowerMac updates will have to wait till MWSF. MacWorld events are still the main place to announce Mac products (not iPod products). At best, this month and November are really the earliest Apple can make product updates.

MWSF will probably be all for iLife, Mac OS X 10.5, and more on the Intel transition.

That could simply be a name Apple has reserved for anything else. Maybe it is already in use but only Apple has access to it of course.

I have actually, and while its good for games, I wouldnt watch a movie on it. THe screen is way too small, and the iPods screen is ~1/3 of it. Even if they made the iPod as large as the PSP, they'd loose sales to the PSP.

Everyone knows Apple's routines...if a product update is in the mix....lead times will increase.
