I think podfuture is my new best friend. This invite coupled with podfuture, the iTunes buttons, iTunes 5.0.2 release and www.apple.com/movies is pretty much a dead give away to the video iPod.

I'm just hoping they release revised 20gb normal iPods, that are smaller and closer to iPod Mini sized.

Hoorah for podfuture.

Those red curtains are Broadway Theater curtains, so, I think Apple will be releasing Barbra Streisand's complete Broadway recordings on iTunes in a special beige iPod. :D

Hahaha!! I just watched "Kathy Griffin is not Nicole Kidman"; she does this whole bit about Oprah going off because Babs painted one of Miss Winfrey's mircophones ivory for her performance. Fantastic ;)

VideoPod - the so-called video ipod will be released in the form of a 10" iBook.

iBooks - new 10" model, marketed as the Video iPod. Also available in 13" and 15" versions. All versions are widescreen resolutions. All models will have the freescale dual-core g4 in them.

Too few people would buy a 10" iBook. You don't seem to realize just how small of a screen that would be for anything BUT watching movies. iBooks, to keep separate from PowerBook lines, probably wouldn't have dual-core G4s, or they will have much lower dual-core speeds.

I can see this, but without the G5. Same speeds, dual-core. :D

iMac - stays largely the same. Possible upgrade to dual core g5 chips.
Maybe, maybe not. I think these may not see an update this time around.

PowerMac - Dual Dual-core G5
May the Flying Spaghetti Monster make it so.

This will be a major upgrade to every single line and will allow the PPC to go out with a bang before intels start coming. Oh and these models will all lose their G* designations. As of these models apple will introduce some kind of new naming scheme in preparation for intels. It is very possible that there will be no specification at all other than "iMac," "PowerMac," etc.
I like the 'push before Intel' idea, but not so much the G* designation. That has become a very big thing at Apple-- iBook G4 and PowerBook G4 replaced iBook and PowerBook. We may just see G6 designations. G4 chips are really 7447 chips (and some others, but that's the one I remember). So... we will see.

I'm getting tired of every Special Event being centered around the iPod.

Amen, well said! i am quite sick and tired of hearing constant ipod BS. Just go to the apple web-page and u will see sadness... 4/5 images are iPod/iTunes related...very sad. 2 years ago it was the opposite way around

One more thing...

Take note of the venue .

Year of HD...

Video Airport Express...

iTunes Movie (and special content) Store...

Should be a fun Wednesday.

Bump for a Beatles iPod. Especially with the cover of Sgt. Peppers on it. Ohhh Yeah.... By the way, .... Beatles iPod is an amazing idea. THanks. Much better than a crappy U2 ipod, we want a real rock band.

You haven't seen a PSP in the flesh, have you?

I want a PSP, but I want it to be an iPod with an 80GB HDD, and I don't care at all about the gaming.

PSP is a brick and a dog.

Macs? No. Too soon for Intel, so no big Mac events yet.

And this invitation's "one more thing" clearly pairs it with the other recent event (nano).

So this is iPod and/or iTunes related.

I guess HD iPods are due for a refresh, and rumor reports point that way. That's what I expect, if nothing else.

I expect any video capabilities to be handled as "another cool extra," NOT as the MAIN function of the device. The market for a video-centric portable device wouldn't be big enough yet I don't think.

But a bigger screen would make for a better MUSIC iPod anyway :)

Wouldn't we first need Paul and Ringo to stop being so pissy and release their catalog on iTMS? Maybe then a Beatles iPod. I would expect it those shoulders deals the guys are wearing on the Sgt. Peppers cover :p

iPod with video og G5 iPod ? I don't think so... Apple will try to keep the buzz of the nano.... this is a Macintosh event guys...

JF

I totally agree. I don't see the point in apple giving us yet another iPod. The Nano has "just" been released, and it would make more sence if apple waited a bit with the portable audio segment, untill the Nano has done it's job pulling in the $$$. Though I don't have any idea of what the "one last thing" will be, hoping for a PB upgrade that would justify the price tag.

My HOPES (based on know inside knowledge):
iPod Video
iTMS (iTunes MEDIA store)
Mac Media Center
(how sweet would it be to have a media center hooked up to a TV to download movies to?)

iTheatre

thats it... a little handheld theater plays you favorite theatre shows with little holographic characters that you can customize with the new iTheatre actor store!!!!

this has to be it...

good god about twenty different things hit the fan in five minutes!
lol
sheesh

Don't bite the hand that feeds you. The iPod is what has brought Apple back into the mainstream consciousness, and it is bringing attention to the Mac.

With the success of the iPod, it is only good marketing to capitalize on the newfound interest in Apple, iPod and and their line of Awesome! computers. With the possibility of selling 10 Million iPods or more just in the next 3 months, the audience of those who will need a computer has expanded too. People are interested in an iPod, or buy an iPod, then they go the the site, stumble on the mini, the iMac, iBook or Powerbook and presto, they buy one and become another one of us... A diehard Mac evangelist.

Don't begrudge the iPod, iTunes filled website from Apple, think of it as the best way for Macs to be selling in the 22nd century.

And we cannot have HD without a PowerMac!!!!

I just sat back and thought about the PowerMac... we have not had anything exciting happen in regards to us Pros in almost 2.5 years.... Dangnummit Apple! Give us Artists, Designers, Editors and such something to wet ourselves over!

I'm getting tired of every Special Event being centered around the iPod.

Sure, but you know what?

I've got the same 2.0GHz G5 I had when they were launched. It is one of the first in the UK, I bought it from Apple after reviewing it along with the 20" Cinema Display (the wrong look for a G5, I know, but I now have my old G4's 15" Display beside it with an adaptor)...

And it still feels like I'm using the latest kit. I still think my G5 is a fantastic computer. I have every intention of seeing the Intel Macs in with a final purchase of the fastest G5 model, but I don't need more power. This is plenty.

IT'S A HOME THEATHER SET UP

Hasn't Steve repeatedly said no vid ipod?? -- wasn't there rumors of an apple set top/mac mini/tv/movie projector system project??
I don't know why --- but I have this crazy feeling --- maybe with intel chips --- just rambling on

They're going to replace the iPod nano before it hits its prime.

I doubt it. Somepeople just want small, other people want more capacity/features, even if that means it will be larger/more expensive.

They're two different markets, and Apple caters to both.
