What are the chances of a new :apple:TV box today?

I would say next to none, some people have claimed that Apple will spend 2 hours and therefore they will need to talk about another product, who's saying they will spend 2 hours? the event could just last an hour? Apple have done this in the past when the 2012 event lasted 72 minutes.

I agree. This could EASILY be 2 hrs on the Apple Watch alone. :apple:

We haven't had any strong rumours as to any hardware updates.

Sometimes Apple does surprise us with something significant despite no rumors.
Though necessary/expected :apple:TV improvements do seem unlikely given that it likely involves significant negotiations with other businesses.

I live in the UK, but I've got a client who is in Florida for a couple of months.

I'm thinking of asking her to grab me one, as it may well save a nice bit of cash.

She's not back until June, but that's ok, I can wait (I think!).

What are the chances of a new :apple:TV box today?

All I can say is that the chances of this are precisely equal to the chances of me buying a new Apple TV in the next few weeks. Just getting an Apple TV that has the AC wifi standard would be worth the $99 for me to buy.

can anyone explain to my why they are keeping the store offline for hours? A website doesnt take that much time to update.

My understanding is that we will see a completely redesigned Online Store.
Not simply adding an Apple Watch section. There could be many changes on the sub level. This is also the first major rollout with Angela Ahrendts in charge of Retail/Online. I'm fairly certain we will be viewing the "New Look" for Apple Retail. :apple:

I'd rather an Apple TV with a streaming service that would rival what Dish is doing. I am SO ready to cut the cord.

^^^ THIS!

XFINITY Customer right now, and would love to just go with the next level of Internet with them and nothing else. HD Antenna for local stuff, Hulu Plus, HBO, and that's it. If Apple TV has other things to offer without the hands of XFINITY I'd be all over it.

Don't toy with me ;)

Yeah. Biggest disappointments are announcements where nothing is available. I understand some things require advanced notice, like :apple:Watch prepping the market for apps & accessories, or cellular-connected devices which must be publicly submitted to FCC for approval - fine. But at this point we know plenty about the :apple:Watch, and there's nothing holding back delivery at this point. It's uncharacteristic of Apple to announce the development of something, then announce the delivery date (nontrivial time hence), then finally get around to shipping it.

There being no rumors of secret deliveries of pallets of unspecified devices, and the likely desire of Apple to encourage the "camping out for days in long lines" anticipation, kinda negates my hope/expectation.

I'm rather conflicted about the idea of Apple taking orders online immediately after the announcement, but not having it physically available today/tomorrow.

Nobody knows squat, and we'll know everything needed in a few hours, so I'd best shut up.

I've never worn a watch that didn't look like a piece of rogue borg implant on my teeny little non-man wrists. Jony Ive's true feat of design is if he could create a watch that looks good on me. I'm not counting on that, so not as excited this time around, alas... watches don't do it for me.

Still hopeful about the rMBA though. THAT would be awesome.

Ugh, Grubber's guesses.

Apple Watch Sport (all colors, with Sport Band): $349/399
Apple Watch, steel, Sport Band: $749/799
Apple Watch, steel, Classic Buckle: $849/899
Apple Watch, steel, Milanese Loop: $949/999
Apple Watch, steel, Modern Buckle (38mm only): $1199
Apple Watch, steel, Leather Loop (42mm only): $1299
Apple Watch, steel, Link Bracelet: $1499/1599
Apple Watch, space black steel, Link Bracelet: $1899/1999
Apple Watch Edition, Sport Band: $7499/7999
Apple Watch Edition, Modern Buckle (38mm only): $9999
Apple Watch Edition, Classic Buckle (42mm only): $10,999

I really don't think I can do the Steel/Link at $1599. And I'm not sure I can go to my corporate office job wearing the Sport version. Maybe the Classic buckle will look nice enough.

My guess is pretty slim chances.

That almost deserves a bigger rollout at WWDC...unless it's simply an updated tweak of the existing Apple TV, which I doubt they'd do.

Today is likely 90% Apple Watch, and 10% MBA updates.

So Tim...... you say we love surprises and you are doubling down on security, so please deliver.....

One thing to ponder re: pre-orders.

Apple seem to be pushing the in person experience, based on the info known about dedicated floor space in European department stores.
Whilst they can't ignore the online market, I do wonder how these two will co-exist to provide the same sort of experience..

Should be offline for more time!

Imagine how many orders of existing products get cancelled when people realized they ordered "last years model" just minutes before "this years model" was available. Sadly, not everyone reads Macrumors so there are still plenty o' people ordering at the wrong time.

Arf, boy did I pick the wrong day to try and place an order for a 15" Macbook Pro Retina - I got it all into the basket, then remembered I needed to transfer cash from my savings to my current account, and thought "right, I'll do that after my shower". Returned after my shower to discover that the store was down and won't be back up until after the keynote. Brilliant. I don't even want the watch! :D

All very valid points. I'm in the same boat. Worse case it will be out early April. But I still have hope it will be available on the 20th since that is the actual first day of spring. Today would be even better :)

How about they should take down only the pages of the products they intend to update instead of the whole store... That way we should already know if our desired product is being updated and not waste 2 hours watching a presentation of already known information.
