I don't see anything in the AW8 that is more useful than the AW7 for me. my AW5 works well, but the battery health is 81% now. perhaps an AW7 on sale during the holidays would make the most sense for me if I upgrade. My SUV has more safety features in terms of crash prevention and detection than the watch. Best Buy will likely have some open box models at decent discounts as well. Too bad the new SE doesn't have the EKG functionality.

I've been switching back and forth for almost two years now because I scuba dive and I use a Garmin Descent MK1. I hate switching between two watches, and I like the Garmin for Scuba Diving and Golf, but I prefer the Apple Watch for everything else. I just ordered the Ultra 
Yes check band compatibility in the Apple Store app. I double tripled checked it before ordering ultra
If you look at bands, it's says 44, 45, and 49 for the larger size band. Yes, they are compatible. That would be a mistake to not make that happen.
I got the orange band for my ultra but I do love my sport loop very, very much. thx.
Ordered two watches. The Ultra and an SE cellular. I was going to get the stainless steel, but it is the same price as the Ultra, so decided to go with it and see what it is like. My wife said the SE features were enough for her, so, so be it. Will be ordering an iPhone Pro Max 256GB, and AirPods Pro when available. One expensive month for me. I will also be getting a new iPad Pro 12.9 inch when available. Good thing Apple pays decent dividends.
Me too! I love the design it’s very Jules Verne! And what a great price! It was like $400 less than I would have thought. I do a lot of mapping and cycling. I love it already. What a steal!
Remember kids, before you order: the Ultra is the real next-gen device. So do yourself a favor. Pony up and buy the real deal. The other one is just to please stock holders. You're welcome.

I just ordered the Ultra, as an out of shape couch potato, that ain't gonna help me, but I really wanted that flat bezel.
However, they should have incorporated some manner of solar charging like Citizen watches to give more of a boost while out on a sunny day.

Just checked the pricing (here in the UK) comparing the 13 Pro Max 256 GB to the 14 Pro Max in the same storage size. £160 more expensive than last year 😳
The stainless steel 45mm Series 8 is £130 more expensive than last years model 😳
I wanted the one with the trail loop but late October delivery? no. I ordered the loop after ordering the Ultra with the orange band. Love orange too but wanted the lighter loop more just dont want to wait that long.
Was so conflicted, I’m not the biggest fan of the Ultra look (without seeing it in person), but I like the flat (bigger) screen and the longest battery life.
Normally I go for 44mm stainless with Milanese loop, which is still priced at $799.
So it’s either get a similar watch (I’m coming from a Series 6) or get something entirely different, for the same exact price.
Went with the Ultra for the new look, extra features and “newer” feel. I wish they would’ve lowered the stainless models down to $500-600.
Wasn’t sure on the band, so I ordered it with the midnight ocean but also an extra black/gray trail loop.

I think it's great deal. The aluminum 45mm with cellular is $529. I rather have titanium for $270 more.
I have had two stainless, the Series 5 and Series 6 that I am wearing now. Reading rumors I was pretty sure I wanted the larger watch and had a feeling it would be over $1k. When they said it was about the price of the stainless with a bigger display I was like yep, there we go.
I did the same thing lol. Didn’t want to wait an extra month for the trail band so went with the alpine and ordered the trail separately.
I think the price made me jump the quickest.

Trade in value of my Series 6 SS is $150. I don't think so. There is nothing other than screen size or fast charge a series 8 does that I need. There is zero advantage to the Ultra for anything I do, other than be huge on my wrist. Bummer. Maybe I get a heavily discounted series 7 then.
