I am in the same boat as everyone. Is there no way we can cancel? I mean its not a big deal, but definitely annoying. I finished my order by 5:03. Plenty of stock at stores, which makes me believe (incoming conspiracy) that they do this **** on purpose, to bloat their image on stock, that hey looked we sold out of the launch day phones. lol anyways rant over..

But seriously anyone know if we can cancel?

You’re so right about Apple’s total disaster. Worst experience in all the years I’ve done this. Maybe a class action lawsuit.

Thank you for the laugh--I needed that. A lawsuit for your phone that wasn't guaranteed a delivery date, huh?

Sometimes it's good to step back and look at the totality of the situation. You're gonna survive just fine waiting a few extra days for your gadget. Relax with your first world problems self. Sheesh.

If it’s true that something bad happened to the shipment, as the info about Exceptions on the ups site suggests, then I am serious.
Also what’s the point of having tracking if it doesn’t work? It used to in past years.

These are some of the most unique shipments UPS does. They’re working with Apple to use chartered planes. Literally entire cargo planes full of nothing but iPhones.

Tracking might be a little off, but what’s actually happening is well choreographed.

I went to an Apple Store to see the new phone I am gonna get but lost my excitement. Most likely, I will just return the phone. There is nothing new other than the camera improvements. Which I am not a camera guy that much. Blah...

As of 5:30 am EST, my tracking still reads “Apple volume at origin pending departure on Charter Aircraft as scheduled,” and EXCEPTION. So, unless the tracking is wrong, the phone was not on the previously mentioned charter to Anchorage.

I know it’s been mentioned already, but mine says the same thing as yours when tracking the shipping number. This comes up when I track with reference number. I feel like something has went wrong if it says it’s on a hold.

🤔 I don’t have that statement on my tracking info. When I track by reference number I get two results, kind of weird, but they are for the exact same tracking number and both link to the same info. Maybe they’ll go out today and we’ll know more.

To be honest at this point all I want, is to know WHEN I need to arrange to be home to sign for the phone.

Ultimately that's the real issue. Not only that but there are some days this week I cannot be home all the time, family members rely on me to pick up grandkids, my wife does not drive to a couple of things including 6 month doctor appointment, etc. I need to know if I can be there to sign or have it picked up later in day, or move it to another day I can be there. This is a pain for planning come on UPS get your act together...

Talked with UPS and Apple. UPS said call Apple, it's stuck in China. Apple said that they had logistic issues on their end holding up the shipments. They also said that if you cannot wait and want to go into the store, they will do the full trade in (IUP) at the store and then to call Apple back and they will talk to UPS to get the SHIPPED phone a Return To Sender status. You will be charged twice in the mean time, but the refund will come in 5 business days.

They also said that we should be getting a second email about the shipment at some point with more information.

Again, that was from one Apple Support Specialist, we all know how those can go, but this seemed like they had been briefed on the issue at hand.

Please tell me you are joking. Class action lawsuit because you didn't get your phone. Seriously ? You have to be kidding. Nobody is this ignorant. Well millennials are so there is that.

Thanks for update was gonna maybe call Apple/UPS but not much we can do at this point. I am 2-3 hours from nearest store so thats why I order online and I hate ordering thru/via carriers so I am sorta stuck. My return box arrives in day or two I hope apple will give us more time before we have to send old phone back given who the heck knows when we will get our phones. I am getting tired of iUP but not much choice in area too far from Apple Stores. Well I am not enthralled by 5G and given how weak AT&T (I still have cheap ”unlimited” from days when they only had iPhone) is in my area (it runs 1-2 bars mostly one) of town unless they do a major camera upgrade next year — what they drew me with along with battery life going from regular Xs to the 11 Pro Max — then it might be time to get off the bandwagon for awhile. Shipping logistics can be a pain and if I cannot get a specific day it is hard for me to plan even though retired (am busier retired than when working LOL)

Conspiracy theory...

What are the chances that the phones are being held up in in China on purpose as a part of the ongoing trade war that Donald Trump has with China?

I would have thought they would have hit the opening day shipments but I do wonder if things are getting worse due to our crazy president..

Don't make this crap political - step away from the CNNs. it's not a war and it's not Trump. USA & China are working out a trade balance, the chances of them directly interfering with the flow of import/export is probably a hard ZERO.

I finally talked to them, pretty much confirmed to me that the logistical issues were customs issues as one poster had in their UPS tracking data although I never see on web site or my UPS apps. From what I could glean that email or info might be tomorrow not today since this is beginning of business day for Apple (and UPS in US.). I sure hope we see something with it really leaving China today but I am not holding much hope any longer....

Why did I have to order the 11 Pro Max Green 64gb?!!! I never expected to experience a delay like this ordering within the first 3 minutes.

it wasn't the model/size - Apple strait up totally screwed up this launch. they seriously shorted all pre-orders and sent too much stock to stores. there are still phones available all over the country at apple stores and 3rd parties. there is going to be even more showing up this week to local stores while our first 5 minute pre-orders smolder out on a hot tarmac.

I can go pick up a space gray pro max at my local Apple store but I really want that midnight green, which is out of stock. Oh well, I still have a fully functioning iPhone X. Not a huge deal if I have to wait longer though very disappointing.

Excuse me. Some of you don't seem to know how to read. I said class action. On behalf of a large number of people, not an individual. Don't bother to reply.

Part of me understands the need to have models in store...but at the same time...it should be first come, first serve priority. What they are essentially doing is “holding” your order so they can get more sales. The messed up part is their solution To our problem is buying the phone (again) at the store, which is inflating their sales. Illegal. Probably not. But that’s a ****** way to show your customers loyalty.

Thanks for the intelligent reply. There are a lot of folks in here who love to throw shade.
