I’m shocked people don’t find it messed up. Like, imagine going to the store and asking if your order is ready and they tell you no and that you have to wait weeks. (You being someone who pre-ordered and went out of your way for the product).

As you turn to leave, someone walks in and buys the exact phone you’re waiting on, with no effort and gets it on the spot.

Just seems like a slap in the face.

Don't make this crap political - step away from the CNNs. it's not a war and it's not Trump. USA & China are working out a trade balance, the chances of them directly interfering with the flow of import/export is probably a hard ZERO.

Class action, individual, whatever....it's still an asinine idea, whatever way you slice it. You're really suggesting a lawsuit for "late" phones. And I say "late" because Apple didn't guarantee any delivery date when you ordered. They owe you nothing other than the product you paid for, which you will get later than expected.

It's VERY annoying that this is happening. I get it. I'm heading out of the country in a week or so and I have no clue when my phone is arriving. But again, it isn't that serious.

The real irony I just noticed now is that a UPS plane from Anchorage that could have gotten our phones if they had not done this yesterday and it went on the chartered device, is that its right over my house on way to Louisville.

got screwed over with trying to order for pickup. suddenly told me it wasn't available at the apple store of my choice. i opted for delivery and got pushed to this date. total bummer but no point complaining. mine also says "Exception" on the tracking FYI. Before the exception it told me that my ETA was this thursday.

Hope that is still accurate as I'm going away for the weekend and would love to take my new toy along!

I believe the Thursday shipment was because it was flagged as shipped. Now there is a delay, which pushes that date further back the longer it goes. So now we are looking at Friday or later. I still don’t get why the damn things weren’t just shipped with that plane that landed in Anchorage this morning.

Yes now best case scenario is we get our phones during the 9/27-10/1 estimate we got when we got bumped to that date in first 10 minutes of preorder (even with preapproval crap that was worthless 3 days before). It’s a customs snafu, deliberate or someone rushed and screwed up data :

Even worse is that others who preordered after I did got their deliveries already. It's as if you're waiting in line and a whole bunch of people cut in front of you. How could you not be peeved?

The phone I ordered is available for store pickup TODAY but I can’t do anything because my IUP phone is stuck in UPS exception hell. Trying to order for store pickup gets denied by the pending upgrade.

First - if you don’t want people to reply, then don’t post a comment. This is a DISCUSSION forum. You know, for umm, discussion.

Second - class action or not - there is no case currently. Would love to hear what you think the merits of the case would be?
- Suing apple because people chose to pre-order instead of purchase in the store, and their phone was back ordered? no case.
- Suing apple because you haven’t received your phone yet? No case. They haven‘t even missed the delivery window which was originally quoted Sep 27 - Oct 1. And that’s just an estimate.
- Something else?

This all makes sense now. If you look back at the email Apple sent it says estimated deliverydaye September 30. Looks like that might be correct
