I get the same tracking details whether I track by reference number or tracking number. I keep hoping for something different and it's all - ha, sucker, here's the same info! Oh well, serves me right for checking obsessively.

Yes, I've been surprised at how quickly they can turn around and process stuff. I had a package due one day that arrived in Atlanta at 5:30 am. It still made it to my local UPS center 50 miles away, was placed on the delivery truck, and was delivered at 9:30 am.
UPS can move packages quickly. Mine was last scanned in Hong Kong after taking a charter flight from China. No more movement since then. UPS MyChoice shows delivery this Thursday, but Apple's order status page reports delivery on Monday.

I’d rather check here constantly than do any actual work...Maybe we should just start a chat group where we all complain together 24/7 till the phone arrives. Who knows, by the time we receive our phones, preorders for the IPhone 12 will be out.
Not sure about you, but the original email from Apple telling me that my phone has shipped specifically says "No Signature Required For Delivery". Also, it's not really fair comparing a singular "dog tag" shipped from China, to shipping out an entire cargo airplane likely completely full of iPhones

My watch came with no signature required as well, and was left at the door without even a knock. Any one of the lucky ducks in the first batch here that can confirm or deny for the phone?
I was . . . 3 days ago. After that I got another Arrival Scan for Zheng Zhou (meaning it left one UPS location, got cleared for export, arrived at another UPS location).
Just shows how bad UPS is with scanning. Customers check their shipments all the time and UPS should make sure every time it moves the customer knows.....
Depends, what was your scheduled date for Apple? Majority of this forum's dates were for 9/27 - 10/1. Our last update was for Hong Kong...

Yes mine says that also and on UPS says same thing pretty much “Shipment released authorized”. Given the uncertainty of arrival I am tempted to cancel that (there is option) so they don’t leave if I happen to be gone and tracking wonky all the way to delivery (has not happened yet with iPhones however)

I know my Series 5 Apple Watch required a signature even though it didn’t claim it would.
I’m also in the last update in HK group.
I'm in the 10/1-10/4 batch. Received tracking info this morning. Apple says Oct 2. UPS says Sept. 30. My phone departed ZZ at 9:26pm local time, but I don't have that message about awaiting final release.
Originally I had 10/1 - 10/4, but now the scheduled delivery date is 9/30 (Monday). Hopefully, It'll arrive on Friday or Saturday, not much hope though.
I don't know if it was mentioned before but how long did it take your batch to get cleared for release?
Watch them get theirs before the Sept 27-Oct 1 group. Haha.
That's odd. Did you get one of the higher end watch cases? I'm wondering if maybe mine didn't because it was under some cost threshold (I got the base 40mm version with the Milanese band)
