Apple Ordered to Stop Selling iPhones Without Charger in Brazil [Updated]

Just imagine going to a Chinese food restaurant and ordering yourself a Chicken Bowl.

You are not about to pay for chicken and rice separately. The Chicken Bowl comes with fried rice and chicken with no other cost. The same analogy applies to the Apple Charger and the iPhone.

here are my expectations from iPhone. As of today i am buying all these with every new iPhone
i need protection case, i have kids.
I need battery pack, i travel a lot.
I need 2 year warranty including damage from drop, i have kids, scared that they drop my phone.
Since i need all these with my iPhone every one should buy these with every iPhone.
Hope EU/Brazil government will force Apple to include all these with every iPhone.
let's all pay more for stuff we don't need, win win for every one.

There's an extremely simple solution which is just to sell iPhones with a voucher that you can redeem for a free charger. The vast majority won't be claimed, and everybody is happy.

Every one will get one because it is free.
Who doesn't want anything free ?

what if Apple decided to not to raise the price and instead not include charger.
at the end of the day we will get screwed.
Again there is no free meal.

this is same as government regulation that increases cost to people.
People who have a changers are paying for the charger indirectly.
I live in CA as per code i have to have smoke detector in every room including hall ways except bathroom.
Some corporation who manufactures smoke detectors spent millions in election funding to make this law, and consumers got screwed.
At the end of the day corporation/businesses will get what they want.

First, I don't think a free low wattage charger would create a huge secondary market.

But we're arguing that people have at least one USB-A or USB-C charger in their household when buying a new iPhone , not that everyone has a lot of chargers.

Worst case, you buy a new charger and maybe even a new cable. It's not the end of the world.

This doesn't have to work for everyone to be a success for Apple.

$1000 phone made out of glass with out 2 year warranty including damage protection ?

hope EU/Brazil will force Apple to include 2 year warrant including damage protection in the price of the iPhone so that Apple can sell iPhone for $1200 and we all can be relieved.

And Apple was not giving away chargers for free, it was included in the price of the phone.

For the third (and last time, cause I am bored of repeating myself if you will ignore it), the price of the phone did not change after they stopped including the charger. So IF they were including the price of the charger in the phone, you're now paying for the charger without getting it.

If Apple cared about the environment more, they would have an option to purchase an Apple Watch without a band (and pass the savings onto the customer of course).

How hard can this be.

Apple wants to make a lot of money and at the same time care about the environment. It's not that they care about the environment and climate change above all else.

You thought wrong. However do you think with 1b iPhones there might be those that do have chargers? My guess is apples thinking the minority of people who need them can buy them.

If you look little closer, Apple means it too. They do a lot for environment. Apple has been little shy tellings about it all.

so you are assuming that Apple was giving away free charger before they stopped including the charger ?
What if they were planing to increase the price of the phone instead they just decided not to include the charger ?

There is no free meals.
There is no free education.
There is no free health care.
these are myth.

If you were the small small minority who purchased a iPhone 11 Pro the year prior, and even then that was the older 18W charger not the 20W charger we have now.

Well yeah, that's my point. I didn't own one thing that supported USB-C before 2020. Everyone that I know who purchased the iPhone 12 and newer bought a separate charger with their purchase. Not very environmentally friendly huh?

I mean, to be fair I can also now buy a 30 watt anker charger that's about the same size as the old Apple 5 watt chargers I have kicking around (mostly powering raspberry pis), so upgrading chargers was gonna happen eventually anyway.

Not Apple since it will work against their promise to be carbon neutral by 2030 for their supply chain.

An extended warranty and case aren’t needed for the iPhone to function, a charged battery is.

We're talking chargers here, not cables.

People are claiming a lot of people would have to buy new chargers when in reality they could just use their old charing equipment or buy a new cable.
