Money grab from Apple. They are banking the old manufacturing costs and the logistics costs. Yet none of these have been passed to the consumer and prices increase.

With the rumours they are increasing prices again this year something should be done.

The amount they charge for iPhone Pros at the very minimum a set of standards AirPods should be included in the box.

They should offer separate SKUs that bundle a charger (on its own, so same iPhone boxes no matter what) for a very small extra fee at time of purchase .. like $5-10 or something.

We're talking chargers here, not cables.

People are claiming a lot of people would have to buy new chargers when in reality they could just use their old charing equipment or buy a new cable.
You must have missed my parent comment, Apple claimed that people had USB charging bricks laying around and then they released the iPhone with USB-C to lightning cables. Since USB-C is still pretty new, most people don’t have spare C bricks so they have to buy either a new cable or power brick.

Funny thing is I bought an 11 pro which shipped with a USB C to lightning cable which didn't work with any of the previous iPhone bricks I owned so into the bin went all the old bricks

The fact Apple did not even drop the price of the iPhone by $29 US dollars tells you it was for a money grab. At least lower the price of the iPhone since they eliminated the charger but they didn't do that. The prices stayed the same or in other cases, it increased whoppingly.
You might be right, but the cost of making the phone could have also increased to account for the price point. Without the component, R&D and other costs, we have no idea.

Okay, now go after Samsung too. They both do it.
Samsung actually sells far more phones than Apple in Brazil. around twice as many. Doing that to Samsung would lead to a lot of people being upset that they can’t buy a phone.

Not having an iPhone available just means more phones for Xiaomi to sell. :)

They didn't claim they had chargers laying around not being used, only that they had a charger. Implictly, that charger could already be used for charging other devices.

You don't need a spare or dedicated USB charger to charge a new iPhone. You can share the USB charger between devices. The only thing you might loose is charging several devices at the same time.

So, if you already have a USB-charger in your household, you don't need to buy a new charger to charge a new iPhone.

You might need to if you want to charge the phone faster, to charge several devices at the same time, or to make charging more convenient.

Not a successful money grab in Brazil as they’re unable to sell ANY phones without chargers at this time. Perhaps the EU will be next to disallow phones without chargers? Wouldn’t be a horrible thing as they could resolve their Gateway problem with Apple in one fell swoop!

I wish more countries would fine Apple for this poor behavior, not only for phones, but also for other products. Not including an extender cable with the MBP is ridiculous.

Their stuff has never been cheap but they've become a petty company under Cook nickel and dimming the customer at every turn.

Now that the EU has mandated a USB-C port on every device, they can now mandate a USB-C port on every charger, which would address this issue. :p

That’s an issue only for people who still have an iphone XS or older that still came with a USB-A power brick. It’s a shrinking market.

Giving away a charger for free, doesn't reduce the carbon foot print for Apple a much as charging for it.

More expensive charger -> less people buying -> fewer charger procured by Apple -> fewer charger produced by a third-party manufacturer - > less carbon footprint for Apple's supply chain
OK, so Apple give you less in order to say they are saving the environment but in the other hand they make almost impossible to repair their products, basically forcing you to buy a new one. Yeah that's great for the environment. LMAO
We all know the carbon foot print excuse is a way to increase their profits. If Apple was truly concerned, they could have a check box option when placing an iPhone order to include for free the charger for people who wants/needs it, but they rather have you order it separately, sending in a different package and possibly shipment. Yeah, that really makes sense.

EU are busy forcing Apple to make iPhones with USB-C currently.

My wife and I probably have 10-12. I do not want another and I appreciate the small savings. But if you switch from the Android platform in particular, you're screwed.

Actually no you’re not screwed. Androids come with a usb-c power brick and modern iphones starting with the iphone 11 come with a lightning to usb-c cable, so if you switch from android to iphone you can still charge the iphone with the existing power brick from the android. No problem really. The problem is for anyone upgrading from an iphone XS or earlier to a newer iphone: the old iphone came with a usb-a power brick and the newer one only comes with a lightning to usb-c cable. They do have to buy a usb-c power brick.

Yes you do because the cable included is USB-C to lightning. Having a USB charger around the house is useless…

what if Apple decided to not to raise the price and instead not include charger.
at the end of the day we will get screwed.
Again there is no free meal.

this is same as government regulation that increases cost to people.
People who have a changers are paying for the charger indirectly.
I live in CA as per code i have to have smoke detector in every room including hall ways except bathroom.
Some corporation who manufactures smoke detectors spent millions in election funding to make this law, and consumers got screwed.
At the end of the day corporation/businesses will get what they want.
You prefer not to have smoke detectors? Why? It's not corporate greed, it's about safety.

Good. I’m all for cutting down on waste but we all know it’s straight up a money grab. If it weren’t, Apple would allow people to get a free charger per new iPhone if truly needed.
Most people have a lot of chargers around the home so really think Apple's doing the right thing here. But they should just have a box to check when ordering 'send me charger as well' for free. It'd be the small 20w charger.

If it’s really about cutting down electronic waste and not profit then they should at least offer free chargers to whoever asks for them.
Simple as that.
