But that doesn't mean there won't be an iPhone 5.
Oh, what's this? Yet more evidence of an iPhone 4S? Official this time though?
Guys, it's time to accept there's not going to be an iPhone 5 this year. They'll release the iPhone 4S with a higher resolution camera and the same design as the iPhone 4. It always was going to be this way. There has been no evidence of any redesigned iPhone 5, just crazy rumours created from the darkest imagination of people who read sites like this.

Not anymore. There are part leaks for the 4S, and now it has been found in iTunes. There have been no part leaks for the iPhone 5, and it has not been found, well, anywhere.Isnt the 4s just as much rumor as 5
Expect an iPhone 4S, don't expect an iPhone 5.
Then maybe you won't be so angry on Tuesday.

Could be because the main gimmick to be announced will be the voice recognisition software, hence the meaning of "Let's talk, iPhone".
That would make a lot of sense - iOS 5 could be available to everyone, but the voice recognisition & assistant features would be limited to the iPhone 4S, prompting people to buy it despite how it's just a slightly faster iPhone 4.
What puzzles me is the name iPhone 4S, instead of iPhone 5. Apple could have just released the iPhone 4S and callled it the iPhone 5; it would have been a better move, marketing-wise.
I don't want to be overwhelmed by it... 4g isn't worth it to me, nfc practically scares me... in fact, I want to be able to get through that 20 minute train ride without pulling it out constantly, so the less bells and whistles, the better.

Yet the top two selling smartphones came out 30 and 18 months ago.
So android phones must suck. Probably 200 android devices have come out in the last 30 months and none of them can outsell the 3GS even?
Doubtful."iPhone 4S" is a placeholder from Apple to give the rumor monkeys something to juggle.![]()
FlameofAnor said:Why do so many people think there will only be an iPhone 4S and not a 5 as well? There were rumors for ages that there would be two new versions of the iPhone. One with a spec change, the 4S, and the redesigned version, the 5. I don't see why this would have changed.
Hi Mom, when did you join Macrumors?

That has always been based on speculation.
Apples history tells us it is unlikely apple would introduce two new products at the same time that were so similar.
Wrong. No single android phone is outselling iPhone. Android smartphones overall are selling way more than iPhone.
Best proof yet that 2 new iPhone models are coming out (4S and the 5):

But you basically contradicted your entire post by saying no matter what you'll buy the phone. Most people care about what they're putting money down for. It would be fair, after 14 months, to let people anticipate a new phone, not just an internal bump.
