Not to mention 3 hr battery life on LTE...

I know, I know, turn off the LTE when not browsing, and carry a spare battery, right?

I just want my phone to work without having to worry about constantly changing settings and batteries, TYVM.

But do they take good pictures, or just a bunch of pixelated crap? 12 MP with a puny sensor is like hooking a 72" plasma screen up to an SD source, the result is worse than it would be if the specs were lower.

I'm the furthest thing from a Nokia fan

But the truth is, they take superior pictures even at a lower MP count.

That is one of the main reasons for the partnership with Microsoft

You're reasoning is correct by experience with other phones

But it is mi-placed with Nokia. Pictures are Fantastic with those phones ! And they have Carl Zies Lenses

its rumored to come with a 2000 mAh battery. Not to mention, you can get a bigger extended battery, since Android|Samsung offers replaceable batteries.

LTE battery performance has been improving though. the Bionic, although still mediocre in battery life, had an increase in battery performance compared to previous 4G phones. So its improving. And by the time maybe iPhone 6 comes out, LTE battery consumption will be at its best with Apple under its reigns.

8MP is meaningless. Ask yourself why the 5 year old DSLR with a 6MP sensor produces images that are FAR AND AWAY better than anything a call phone with a 8MP sensor can capture.

It's about OPTICS, not sensor MP. I hope Apple nukes the whole idea of measuring camera by MP. Stress the improved sensor and improved lens design, NOT MP. Let the crapdoid makers fight over retarded MP like Intel did back in the day trying to push Netburst to 3.4 GHz.

When it comes to sensors, it is all about pixel size. The bigger the pixel, the more light it gets resultingin a better quality image. The smaller the pixel, the darker and thus need for a higher ISO resulting in a worse image.

I can't wait for the day when they put optical zoom lenses in an iPhone :D

I love my iPhone 4. It's a beautiful classy sleek think and I like it's size. There is this insatiable desire for bigger and better and often classic design is replaced for the sake of it by an inferior product. I can think of many examples of cars eg Honda civics which were replaced by fat bloated ugly successors.

I will get an iphone5 if one comes but part of me wants me to keep with the classy 4. It's just perfect and sometimes bigger isn't better. Less is more.

If they came up with a 4 design with the screen stretched as earlier rumors suggested then it will be perfect.

What if all these supposed 5 cases were just based on a false assumption by a case manufacturer and everyone's jumped on the band wagon which doesn't really exist??

Whatever I have utter faith in apple

1). 3G to 3Gs
2). Iphone 4 to Iphone 4s...

...simple...

What major upgrade happened to the 3g to 3gs? Answer...

Same upgrade that will happened to the iPhone 4s. :apple:

Except that you missed the fact that the there was iPhone to iPhone 3G.

What major upgrade happened to the iPhone to iPhone 3g? Answer...

3G technology.

You can not be sure that no upgrade like that will NOT happen with the iPhone 4, so this logic rather fails.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about the new hardware? I'm totally satisfied with my iPhone 4 and don't have any reason to upgrade whatsoever. I'm just dying to get my hands on iOS 5.

I'd be mildly irritated for holding off on a iphone4 purchase since feb of this year if they come out with only a 4s.

Was that Apple's fault or yours?

Which will actually take worse photos with that many pixels fighting over the few photons coming in through a pinhole lens.

I already explained why this is a misconception.

I'll assume you're not a Nokia user and have not spent a good amount of time in Europe.

That's ok.

Just bash it cause its the "Cool" thing to do in this forum

It is simple but not in the way you are thinking.

1st generation - iPhone
2nd generation - iPhone 3G - Apple got cute and named the phone after it's big selling feature.
3rd generation - iPhone 3GS - Since the 3 was already used and 4 would make no sense they did the next best thing and added an S.
4th generation - iPhone 4
5th generation - ?

Had Apple named the second phone the iPhone 2 do you really think the third phone would have been the 2S?

Regardless of what the new phone looks like odds are it will be called the 5. People are saying they will buy something called the iPhone 5 but not the iPhone 4S so regardless of how lame the update is the new phone will have the sexier name.

Apple also needs a cheap phone for the prepaid market. That is the phone that will be called the 4S. Apple will not continue to sell the iPhone 4 as is because of the antenna issue and because they can now make a world version instead of CDMA and GSM versions. The modified 4 will hence be called the 4S. S might once have stood for speed but now it means cheap phone.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that the iPhone 4S will be announced on Tuesday, with availability in 10 days. In addition, I think that the iPhone 5 will also be announced, with availability in 3 months. Apple will hope that the momentum from the 4S refresh will carry it through the holiday season, with the new phone to boost traditionally slow January sales. Both phones will sport the A5, with the 4S retaining the current camera and screen and the iPhone 5 being upgraded to an 8 MP camera with improved optics, as well as possibly a larger screen. Both will be significant upgrades, being the only phones able to take advantage of all of the new features in iOS 5, so announcing the iPhone 5 shouldn't take too much away from sales of the 4S, which will be much more competitively priced and have nearly the same capabilities. The iPhone 5 will be for those who are willing to pay the price for higher specs and the very latest/coolest design, and who have the patience to wait for it.

I'm desperately fighting the urge to resort to name calling here, but do you honestly believe any company would announce a refresh of its flagship product and simultaneously announce the successor to that refresh?

Damn shame....i will wait til tuesday but more than likely i will be hopping to the next nexus...I was really going thru this entire thread hoping somebody would debunk this....

I actually wanted an ipod touch 5 but im sure nothing much will be upgraded on that either.

Nothing is in between you and your Nokia phone but you.

One is the new low end, for $99, while the other the new high end, for $399 (both with contract). Remember, there were rumors of design and production delays with the iPhone 5, and I can't see how that would apply to the iPhone 4S.

Call me names on Tuesday if I'm wrong.

+1 Nokia phones take fantastic pictures.

At least we will see what Apple has a week before the Nexus Prime is unveiled on Oct. 11th. I'll wait until after that and read reviews and test out all the current phones myself and make a purchase toward the end of the month.

I was 100% set on the iphone 5, but if it's only the 4S, I'm gonna lean towards the Droid Prime. I sure hope Apple doesn't disappoint.
