Lets see, At&t has cases for the bigger phone, its also in their inventory, radio shack now has iphone 5s listed in their inventory, the new york times spoke with a Apple engineer that confirmed that a redesigned phone is coming in october, and Al Gore who is on the board of directors stated 'iphones' are coming in October.
I give up man, to hell with you people, haha.
rocknblogger said:When the 3GS was released it was a completely different mobile market. Today the market is much faster and consumers expect better faster sleeker with every new release. Regardless of whether it's Android or Apple. Android has taken a decent bight out of Apple over the last 16 months. In that time there have been numerous handsets released with some powerful specs. Dual core, 8Mpx cameras, more memory and so on. From a business standpoint, not releasing a new iPhone 5 would be akin to marketing suicide. It would give Android a clear point of marketing attack to say "Look at how much better our phones are". HTC would probably be the most vocal and the biggest winner if there is no iPhone 5.
Apple is not a company to make bad business decisions. Not when the race is this close. I believe there will be an iPhone 5 because there has to be an iPhone 5. Otherwise Apple stands to lose (And will) more ground to Android.
You do know they are releasing 2 versions.
The iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
The 4S is a lower model that most likely will be $99.
The 5 will be a higher model.
Here is a link that show a leak of both.

Even if it is the same phone that looks EXACTLY like the iPhone 4 they would never call it the iPhone 4S unless they COULDN'T call it the iPhone 5...
Why CAN'T they call it an iPhone 5? Because they are releasing two phone models... an iPhone 4S and an iPhone 5!

Apple will announce at least one new iPhone next week (there could be a revamped iPhone 4, as well), and although the rumors are all over the map, I have one prediction of my own. And that is that Apple will completely revamp the very much broken external antenna design that it saddled iPhone 4 users with. And that redesign will be present on the iPhone 5 andif there is onethe "new" version of the iPhone 4 (which I believe the company will release at a lower price point). Beyond that ... whatever. The iPhone is yesterday's smartphone, and though it was fascinating when it came out, Apple has been surpassed by faster-moving and/or more innovative smartphone firms. Including, yes, Microsoft with Windows Phone. Deal with it.
Yep, the anti-i5 crowd has it wrong. The 3gs was a different ballgame, the market HAS changed.
When people see a Samsung Galaxy SII, side by side with iphone4s, which phone would they pick? With competition like s2, it is imperative for them to keep up with the times. These are not times when they can just casually release a minor upgrade iphone, and people will jump on it. Back then there was nothing like 3GS! That's why it sold!
I think your logic is flawed by way of the 3GS. Apple could have called that model the iPhone 4 but saved that moniker for its successor. It's quite possible and logical that Apple would name the one and only next iPhone the 4S. Just like with the 3GS the "S" is for speed as the 4S will be capable of HSPA+ on GSM networks where the 4 is not. Perhaps it will have some tweaked speed advantage on the CDMA networks too.
Will there be an iPhone 5? Probably. But I'd hedge my bet it comes out in 2011.
I have already mentioned my reasons I think they would DEFINITELY name the new phone an iPhone 5 but it boils down to one question you have to ask yourself.
What does Apple gain calling it an iPhone 4S?
They gain NOTHING!
All it does is tell people its a MINOR UPGRADE... It tells people "Its a new phone but not good enough to be called the iPhone 5"
This is a business... They want people to think its the BIGGEST UPGRADE POSSIBLE to drive sales. They don't want people thinking "If its just a minor upgrade my current one is OK" they want people to BUY and calling it a minor upgrade will hurt sales.

Again, this is why I give up. And I guess none of the other examples I gave prove anything either. I can't wait until Tuesday. And actuallyl Al Gore said exactly that, "new iphones in October".

Um, all of that data actually confirms what the Apple engineer told the New York Times, but I guess that doesn't matter. It could be conincidence, but probably not. You guys would make poor investigators, haha.
How do you explain the 3GS - I think it sold pretty well.
How do you explain the 3GS - I think it sold pretty well.
I'm thinking the keynote on Tuesday will not have the same atmosphere with Tim as with Steve. Steve gave off that "passion" vibe - the vibe that he's the head of the company and he's loving to tell you about the next new product.
I don't know about Tim.

Is there any way to find out how the 3GS did in sales compared to the other phones? If it did significantly lower than the iPhone 1, 3G, and 4 then I doubt they would use 'S' again in their names unless they have an iPhone 5 ready to be announced as well.
It would be nice to see the stock for Apple tomorrow. I'd like to see the reaction from this slip up.
