I just don't see it, I am a die hard loyalist when it comes to Apple but if the iPhone 4s is the only phone on Tuesday after a 16 month period then it will be the PR disaster of the decade, even I would find no way of defending Apple, I trust them too much to believe that they would **** up on such a grand scale

I just don't see it, I am a die hard loyalist when it comes to Apple but if the iPhone 4s is the only phone on Tuesday after a 16 month period then it will be the PR disaster of the decade, even I would find no way of defending Apple, I trust them too much to believe that they would **** up on such a grand scale
Would 4S and 5 really be that complicated considering it's currently 3GS and 4? Like come on...this news isn't particularly good if it's the only phone they'll be releasing, but it's not like having a 4S and 5 is "complicated." I think they'd just get rid of the 4 totally then.
Because of Apple's new iMessage feature, I think Apple is going to target Teenagers who's parents don't want to pay for an iPhone 4 (not the lower class people who can't afford an iPhone 4, the way your making it sound)

Apple doesn't do anything without it being on purpose, in this case, I think, to keep the rumor mill off guard.
After the iPhone 4 prototype incident last year, I am sure that things are under tighter wraps this time around.
Sprint, Verizon and AT&T have all let it slip that they will be carrying the iPhone 5 (what? 4S? NO 5!) in October.
Just because they have a "1" on the iPhone event invite doesn't mean ANYTHING! Except to keep people confused/guessing in the rumor mill.

That's what I am thinking. If it's the same form factor, they already had access to the rest of the parts. Why delay 3 months to add an 8MP camera and the A5 chip that was already ready for the iPad 2 6 months ago. Even if they had to tweak the chip for power consumption or something, there's no way it should've delayed the phone. Just hoping they didn't delay for this voice stuff for some reason.
This is our only hope left. That is - Apple sees huge benefits of scale when creating as few models as possible. So they were willing to slightly modify the 4 to make it universal and get different models down. In the process they drop the capacity to 8gb and maybe add A5 and 8MP cam. Then they release the 5 at 16gb and 32gb capacity points. Similar to last year, but they saw enough benefit to tweak the 4 to make it universal. Let's just hope it's true.
LINEUP 1 (all universals): 6 models
iPhone 4S 8gb - black and white
iPhone 5 16gb - black and white
iPHone 5 32 gb - black and white
LINEUP 2 (no universals): 15 models
iPhone 4 8gb black - verizon, att, and sprint
iPhone 5 16gb - verizon, att, and spring - black and white
iPhone 5 32gb - verizon, att, and sprint - black and white
Yes, I made certain assumptions about no phones being able to swap networks. It's just an assumption.
We will know soon if consolidation matters enough to them or if the big evolution this year was the software...

. i love the form factor of the 4 and with new in-ards etc and camera i'll be buying this. 7-8 months then they can release the changed form factor next june hehe
and as for the people that won't buy it. there are plenty of people without an iphone now that will buy to round off the numbers or people upgrading from 3gs etc. it will be an awesome more phone than the 4 is. a5, 8mp cam, ios5, new graphics chip and 1gig ram hopefully, you never know they could extend the screen nearer to the edges bringing it to 3.7 inches but i will be happy with 3.5.
but don't worry, give it a year or 2 and phones will have 7 inch screens. oh wait, thats a tablet lol

The 4S is a combination world phone for worldwide markets both CDMA & GSM, it's the lower tier handset that will serve the sector of the current 3GS. The iPhone 5 will also be released on Tuesday as the successor to the iPhone 4. Anyone who thinks all they are releasing is the 4S is living in a dreamworld.

Could it be iPhone get redesigned every 2 years so IP4 -IP4S IP5-IP5S, Walking in to an apple shop to ask for an iPhone and the sales rep says 4 or 5 seems odd at least with 4 or 4s ut does not let the buyer think they are buying something to old or outdated. I just feel there is know 5, no leaks just speculation via cases seems strange.

I am 100% positive that on oct. 4 there will be an iPhone 5. this is my reasoning:
If apple took 16 months to only up the camera and processor, etc. and keeps the same design. obviously there would be a lot of disappointed people and bad press,
sooo if Apple did do that they would still market their phone as the "iPhone 5" if they marketed it as the iPhone 4s it sounds like less of a significant upgrade. so more bad press.
Now we have proof that a phone called an "iPhone 4s" exists. that means that it will not be the only new iPhone being shown on tuesday!!!
