I do use boon. But it’s gonna be 1,49 in a month (my free year is over)

Due to PSD2 boon isn’t allowed to charge for top ups by credit card. So they decided to increase their monthly fee to 1,49€.
Nevertheless, boon is probably just a stopgap for most people. Apple users appreciate a hassle-free experience, so being dependent on a prepaid card rather than at least a debit card is anything but great.

In my opinion boon. is something people primarily get just to show off how 'cool' and cutting edge they want to be, whereas in reality it is merely a crutch and ironically the exact opposite of a seamless Apple experience.
Can't help but to ridicule many who blame and shame the established banks for their fees and intransparency but gladly pay for and jump through countless hoops to use some foreign prepaid card with a fake address.

This is a false accusation!
I top up my account with a few hundred euros and use it for quite a long time.
It’s handy when I don’t have my wallet with my (e.g. sport)

Would be interesting to see what changed.
I just used archive.org to view an old version of the sites. The only change in the first page is seen in the picture. On the second page, the only changes were some formulations (Minus-Zeichen -> Minuszeichen) as well as the additional mentioning of Face ID and Apple Pay Cash.

Hmm.. why would they update the site if there was no reason for?

boon. is stating different account limitations for France and Germany, although boon. can't be activated through the German App Store...

There is also a boon App for Android. That is available in Germany for NFC payment.

Today I saw a TV-spot for a POS and it supports :apple: Pay (I saw it on History HD).
SumUp is running a heavy Ad campaign too with Apple Pay. Even though not directly for Apple Pay its running for some time. (I even have a terminal, I work with this stuff too but I dont have any insider information.) All the documentation and extras has the logo printed on it. Doesnt mean a thing unfortunately

Asos supports it probably because of klarna and Adyen, its like using stripe or even like sumup and iZettle, the feature to take Apple Pay is everywhere and easy but the other side (the banking side in germany) isnt ready.

Hello Guys!

I have asked my bank last week on friday when they will accept Apple Pay in Austria and they said that they wanted to launch it in Q4 2017, but then he said that Apple has delayed the launch in Austria to Q4 2018. He assured me that the launch will be in Q4 2018 and will be exklusiv to only this Austrian Bank at launch.
I hope that that will be the case because I cannot wait any longer :(

Somehow I doubt that somebody who just works for a bank 1. even knows this. 2. if they know it, are allowed to say it.

I don‘t know why he has said me that but here is a screenshot of our E-Mail conversation

Countdown is ticking @sunny2k1. I hope this guy is wrong and you are right.
i doubt that a "normal" banker has any information about the status of Apple Pay or the ongoing negotiations. if this information would be disseminated on this employee level, information leaks would be all around. i think this service representative just wanted to answer anything at all.

this is at least as doubtful as sunnys prediction.

At least customer representatives of my bank (ING NL) just honestly say they don't know. Which of course they don't because if they did, everybody would know by now.

So I just set up boon. through Ireland. By looking around in the Help tab, under Fees, I found this:

boon. is stating different account limitations for France and Germany, although boon. can't be activated through the German App Store...
I, unfortunately, have no proof but I remember that the last time I checked this screen it didn’t mention Germany.

I also set up boon on Friday evening with the app from the UK App Store and set up through France. I swear that under "Fees and Limits" there was nothing about Germany there. There were fees listed on the website for Germany but not within the iOS App.

No, that does not mean I think it's going to launch soon. But still an interesting observation.
