Expect more European countries to launch it. Main focus will be Germany as it is the main European Market missing....

Edit: A little birdie just told me this weeks Earnings Call might be worth listening to....

Edit 2: Interesting side note about the agreement: Apple will not see any share of the transaction. Apple will receive a flat fee per card activated. One card can be activated on up to four iOS/watchOS/macOS devices at once.

Really? Happening this Earnings Call?
Awwww, kisses, sunny2k1! Love ya!

Great news. I have been waiting from October 2017, however as sunny2k1 mentioned German financial market is different. Actually I have started to notice that major supermarkets have also started to force contactless payments. Looking forward for Apple Pay in Germany.

Cool side note! To say it with James Hetfield and the METALLICA family: "Oh yeah?" "YEAH!" "Oh yeah?" "YEAH!" "Oh yeah?" "YEAH!" \m/

Would be nice if the rumor was true this time.

Is it still the case, that you need to be signed into iCloud to use Apple Pay?

I'm not singed into iCloud on my iPhone.

No you don’t have to pay anything.
The banks don’t have to pay a transaction fee. Instead they’ll pay a fixed fee to Apple for each activated card.

But this is a rumour.

I have no idea what it means for the Netherlands. The difference between Germany and the Netherlands is the number of different financial institutes.

For example, the German Sparkasse has over 40 million customers with Girocards getting more and more spreading around. So if you have potentially access to all those cards alone, you having a cash cow.

Well the Netherlands may be a small country with a lot less customers then Germany. But the use of a Maestro card is huge.
In 2017, a total of 150 billion euros was paid with a Meastro card, 3,9 billion tranactions. Of those, 50% where contactless.

Especially for entertainment like Netflix and Spotify the creditcard used more often. The number of online payments with iDeal and credit cards increased by almost a third to 455 million. Turnover in the travel sector, particularly for hotels, rose by 8.5 percent last year.

I am already using Apple Pay in Germany with boon, but I cant wait to have my main bank (DKB) showing up in Apple Pay.
Although I dont like one thing:
I cannot tell Apple Pay to ask me which credit card to use. I can set a default, but if I have more than one?
Can I choose which one on the Apple Watch? through wallet?
But I would more like, that it would ask me on a double tap.

Apple Pay in Germany is more than only needed!!! In my own opinion, Apple should launch it as soon as possible because Germany is the largest market after the US for this feature in the world!!!

You should be able to switch cards:
  • iPhone X: Double-click the side button. When your default card appears, tap it, then tap to choose another card. Glance at your iPhone X to authenticate with Face ID, then hold the top of your device near the reader to pay.
  • iPhone 8 or earlier: Hold your device near the reader without resting your finger on Touch ID. When your default card appears, tap it, then tap to choose another card. Rest your finger on Touch ID to pay.
  • Apple Watch: Double-click the side button. When your default card appears, swipe left or right to choose another card. Hold your watch near the reader to pay.
