Hmmm...sarcasm or honesty? I think former. :) If so, I agree. It's just as easy to grab a CC and do the transaction that way.

The only place I would REALLY love to use AP is at gas stations (at the pump), where CC info is ripped off daily from card scammers. But, I've yet to see a pump that takes AP.

I use Apple Pay when I forget my wallet. The kids and wife are crazy, I'm busy doing something at the last minute like cleaning up some mess the kids made, rush out the door and find out I don't have my wallet. Then I think - waste time to go home for lunch to get it, or who accepts Apple Pay? 48-hour heat-camped 7-11 hot dog - here I come! :)

Dunno. Some retailers still require a signature after you use Apple Pay.
Aren't signatures no longer required by the CC companies? I thought I remember reading that at the beginning of this year they were no longer required?

Update: As of April 2018 it is not a requirement but still up to the store owner.

Me too, especially when I forget my wallet at home and need to grab a quick lunch. For now, I think McDonal’d and Subway are safe bets.
Interesting comment reflecting how priorities have changed over the last decade - the wallet, shortly followed by keys, was for many years the most important item to have on one's person on a daily basis. It contained id's and photos, credit cards, cash, and other items long considered necessities for functioning in contemporary societies. It has been increasingly transplanted by phones and other electronic gadgets. Even keys are going increasingly digital. So, you are more likely to remember your phone than your wallet - like I say, interesting.

I have not read through all replies but Exxon takes ApplePay. You do have to use their app but from the app you activate the pump from inside the car then get out and pump once ready. Easy enough for traveling and I have had my card number taken at pumps twice prior to using the app, never since.

Walmart is trying to capture the value in a card transaction, that’s why it made its own bastard orphan system.

People like to bash Walmart’s system, yet most have never used it. I’m a fan of Apple Pay myself, but Walmart’s is just as easy, if not quicker. When I shop there I have the app open already to search for items in-store. I do think they should take Apple Pay to give their customers more options. Target is much worse when it comes to contactless payments in-store.

Popeyes and a local liquor store accepts Apple Pay so time to get some fried chicken and a six pack.

I also find it interesting people forget their wallet or just leave it at home. What happens if you get pulled over, want to buy liquor, or need to show
ID somewhere else? What about cards for health insurance? In my 40 years, I’ve only forgot my wallet 2-3 times and it was because I left it in a different pair of jeans or it fell out of my back pocket while I was changing. I forget lots of things, but those are just a no-brainer.

I still forget my iPhone, less so in recent months, not yet target zeroo_O! Old.

Time to carry digital IDs that are acceptable across all counters in our cellphones has arrived.

The almighty TSA and Airline boarding accept them; why not the other/lesser minions;)!

Why is the US behind on NFC-payments.?
America is supposed to be the IT-revolution forerunner of the world, but when it comes to payments and banking you guys a behind :p

I hardly ever have to carry a wallet anymore.
Whereever i travel across europe, i just tap my phone and pay.

Maybe you don't travel that much around Europe?
Spain I found to be very good for NFC.
France is fairly variable, but if they take cards they often (but not always) take NFC.
Austria still has many places (restaurants) that only take cash.
Germany seemed to be variable IIRC from my visit last year.

That doesn't make sense. If one NFC based payment method is accepted, all of them are.

What could have happened is that the terminals broke there again. They seem to be pretty unreliable in my experience.
Not true. Apple has to work out terms with each retailer to accept their service, obviously. Tons of places take Android/Samsung Pay and not Apple Pay.

Germany and Austria are not good examples because they are traditionally cash-loving countries. The more you go to the North in Europe, the less important cash is. But I have to add that there are a lot of stores and Restaurants where you can pay via NFC even in Austria. Due to the lack of Apple Pay in These two countries I use Blue Code instead at the Moment. And I also prefer payments on a European Standard (SEPA) to those based on Card schemes where the payments and payments data goes overseas to the US.

I use Apple Pay so that I don't have to carry all my credit cards with me. This way, I can choose the card to use for every transaction to maximize the rewards based on category, but don't need to have a bulky wallet to hold all the cards.

It's not quite there yet. Not everything can be put on the phone yet, which is why I still need a wallet.

I've got punch-cards at mom and pop stores that give me a free coffee after buying 5. Punch card for Zoup for free Soup after buying 10. My library card needs to be swiped. I've got 'membership cards' for discounts at small businesses that won't be on phones for a while. Those types of things.

Eh. It doesn’t happen all the time. But Apple Pay has helped me out. It usually happens if I’m running late for work or I can’t find it and I have to leave. Obviously I can’t forget my keys, but I’ve forgot my wallet, iPhone, or watch in several occasions.

Wait till you hit 50. No-brainer will describe the contents of your head when it comes to remembering important things. I used to laugh at my mum's forgetting where she put her purse etc. Not any more.

Searched for 7-Eleven on their site since I have not seen a store around here; none in 14 states. Three other states have only one store.

Even after Visa and Mastercard announced that signatures were no longer required when a purchase was made with their cards, some stores just have not gotten the message. They really get mad when a customer doesn't sign. Must be very poor communication.

My Exxon in MD takes AP. Has theNFC symbol so I tried it.works fine

Last year we went to zoo in New Iberia, La. and apple pay worked on the drink machine outside the building. I was shocked that it. Pay with watch at KFC.

I'm surprised men put their wallets in their back pockets today. In that position, it's uncomfortable when sitting and can cause back problems.
Several times over the past 20 years I have forgotten to pick up my wallet before leaving the house. I don't plan on being pulled over because I am not driving in a manner that would get me stopped by the po-po. No person has asked for my ID in years.
It is way past time for health information to be stored on chips so that one does not have to fill out pages of personal health history every time he goes to a different doctor or hospital or specialist.

finally something Canada gets to enjoy 1st lol

our 7-11's have had apple pay since our launch in 2015

System's like this needs to be everywhere and work for everyone. It would be nice to shop without any cards in my wallet. If we had our drivers license on our phones, I wouldn't even need to carry a wallet at all.

Because I totally make buying decisions based on whether the store offers Apple Pay..

Actually, given the prevalence of skimmers, at least at gas pumps I DO prefer to use my phone if possible.

Though I don't buy gas at 7-11 that much, I really wish places like WAWA would consistently support Apple and Android pay at the gas pumps.
