A total PR disaster for HSBC and First Direct.
Why on earth did they allow their name to be associated with the first wave? They allowed expectations to climb, knowing full well they would not meet them. This was completely unavoidable and whatever the real reasons are, it's made them look detached from their customers and incompetent.
They chose to bury the release details in a press release, why didn't they just have a banner on the front of their web page for the last few months. If they really never had any intention of releasing today, then someone in corporate PR should be looking for a new job. This is exactly the sort of unnecessary brand harm they are paid to prevent.

I got it for my credit card but not my debit card. Go into Passbook in the settings and select the card in question, it should then give you an option of selecting an alternative way of authorising your card other than ringing them up.RBS debit added here ,but need to RBS to complete verification... anyone else get this?

anyone with a blue natwest card had any joy?
I believe you can only do one transaction with a max of £30.
What is more interesting is that they believe that someone who has an iPhone, and Apple watch etc and goes shopping for groceries, thier basket comes under £30.
Halifax are not supported till later in the year.Tried to register my Halifax Visa (RBS) no dice. Bit disappointing. Does the card itself have to be contactless in order to work with AP?
Are you running Watch OS 2 beta 3. If so then not supported in this beta.Anyone managed to get their card on their Apple Watch? Works fine on the phone and I was able to pay at Tesco but whenever I try to add the card to my watch I just get "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay - An error occurred while setting up Apple Pay"
I've got a joint account I don't know if this comes with purple cards, tbh I never knew there was different cards until today with apple pay launch lol have to get on to them to see if they can offer a apple pay supported joint accountIt would appear the blue debit cards are not supported - I'm in the same boat. You'll need to request the purple card if eligible.
Nationwide and AMEX cards worked fine on my watch.Anyone managed to get their card on their Apple Watch? Works fine on the phone and I was able to pay at Tesco but whenever I try to add the card to my watch I just get "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay - An error occurred while setting up Apple Pay"

I *think* the over £30 limit is removed if you're buying from one of the official AP partners-Waitrose, Apple Stores etc.
I may be wrong about that, so don't take it as gospel!![]()
