Santander is working with the region switch trick.

Using the region switch I could add my NatWesr card but not Amex card. Even got a text from NatWest saying my card had been activated and my card is still in my wallet when I switched my iPhone region back to the UK. I don't seem to be able to add cards from the UK region and no sign of Apple pay on my Apple Watch either.

I don't think you guys are reading this right:

Vice president of Apple Pay Jennifer Bailey said the system will be able to used to not only buy coffee and other low-price transactions, but full shopping baskets’ worth of goods following merchants’ decisions to upgrade their contactless terminals’ software to accept transactions with a greater value than £20, rising to £30 in September.
Yeah, pretty much this. Terminals which have explicit Apple Pay support will (likely) support theoretically unlimited transaction limits. Those which don't have the software update will support Apple Pay, but treat it as just another contactless payment, as if it didn't have authentication.

If Apple bring out a 4" iPhone, I may try Apple Pay. Otherwise, not. Although, I think the iPad Air 2 supports it.
The iPad Air 2 has the Secure Element for TouchID, but not the NFC radios, so you can't take your iPad Air 2 out shopping and try to pay with it. It just means that in apps which sell physical goods, you can choose Apple Pay instead of your credit/debit card, and you don't need to type in your address or anything.

Seems my Santander debit card works, as do my Nationwide debit and credit cards.

It looks like the Santander 123 credit card is specifically excluded from Apple Pay support, as I get a message saying the card is unsupported. RBS and First Direct debit cards are currently giving me errors.

Hopefully MacBooks will have support for TouchID and NFC so we can use them to Apple Pay. I can easily imagine a scenario where I'm out, forgot my wallet, and my phone is back on the desk, watch fully discharged but I have my 15" MacBook Pro in the bag. It would be super convenient if I could pull out the laptop and pay for my burger and fries.

Seriously??

So it seems that you can go into Passbook, select a card, and authenticate with Touch ID. It then says 'hold near reader to pay'. This prompt goes away after 1 minute.

This could be useful on TfL services if you are concerned about holding people up due to authentication issues.

That would be extremely disappointing if true and I reckon is just due to it not being fully live yet. I have had the same issue with an RBS credit card.

Change region on your watch companion app to add cards to your watch! just added my Natwest card to my watch via my iPhone 5s (which can't use AP for itself)

Is your RBS Credit Card a MasterCard one? Just looked through the other thread and it's seemingly Visa cards at the moment being activated (mine included.)

Got it activated on my Air 2 using iOS 9 too.

Won't be in Australia till iPhone 9 most likely. Cause we are a 3rd world country an all. Excuse me now while i ride my kangaroo to work.
As a fellow Aussie, this made me laugh and cry at the same time...

I want to be able to use my $1100 phone and $1000 watch to full potential without having to move to the US.

I'm sure RBS and First Direct will come fully online later today.

I suspect Santander's 123 credit card is intentionally being excluded from Apple Pay though. They're already talking about withdrawing it because its cash back levels were unsustainable given the new EU credit card fee limits - they won't want Apple eating in to their fee as well.
