Hopefully MacBooks will have support for TouchID and NFC so we can use them to Apple Pay. I can easily imagine a scenario where I'm out, forgot my wallet, and my phone is back on the desk, watch fully discharged but I have my 15" MacBook Pro in the bag. It would be super convenient if I could pull out the laptop and pay for my burger and fries.
I think Macs in future may come with a Touch ID sensor somewhere and a secure element chip which will enable Apple pay. It will be like the iPad though and will only work over online purchases.

Is your RBS Credit Card a MasterCard one? Just looked through the other thread and it's seemingly Visa cards at the moment being activated (mine included.)

Got it activated on my Air 2 using iOS 9 too.

That explains it!

Seems my Santander debit card works, as do my Nationwide debit and credit cards.

It looks like the Santander 123 card is specifically excluded from Apple Pay support, as I get a message saying the card is unsupported. RBS and First Direct debit cards are currently giving me errors.

Is it the 123 credit card you are referring to?

Change region on your watch companion app to add cards to your watch! just added my Natwest card to my watch via my iPhone 5s (which can't use AP for itself)

This. I did it where I live on the continent and after activating my U.S. Credit cards, I changed the region back to my local one. All works fine on both my 6 and AW.

Not all Natwest visa debit cards work either. It could be that only debit cards with contactless embedded already have had Apple Pay included.

I'm sure RBS and First Direct will come fully online later today.

I suspect Santander's 123 credit card is intentionally being excluded from Apple Pay though. They're already talking about withdrawing it because its cash back levels were unsustainable given the new EU credit card fee limits - they won't want Apple eating in to their fee as well.
Given the fact Santander show the Santander 123 CC with Apple Pay on their website, I'm sure it'll work later on in the day. MasterCard doesn't seem to have turned their system on yet.

Interesting, where does it show it? I can only see a Santander debit card on the website.

EDIT: Sorry, you're right, I was looking at the Apple site as opposed to the Santander site. The main page does indeed show the 123 Credit Card. Hopefully it'll be available later today.

I feel like I'm waiting up for Santa Claus... :)

Well tell a lie, I'm in New Zealand. I'm an ex-pat with 4 British banking cards and an iPhone6+.
So I'm not really waiting up. I'm taking a break from work.... ;)
My First Direct Visa & Debit Visa both get as far as asking me to accept the T's & C's then report a card issuer problem.
My business HSBC Visa debit just kicks me out as does my loathsome Barclaycard Visa.

Anyone know if Apple Pay allows cards from more than one county of origin in your Wallet?
Just wondering if I'll be able to keep UK CC's alongside NZ CC's when (if ever) it comes to the opposite side of the planet.

Yeah you can have more than one country of cards. I have US and UK cards in mine.

You can buy goods up to the value of £20. You can’t buy something worth £200 with contactless, yet.

I imagine that this will be modified if there is a 2nd factor of authentication (such as say; a fingerprint) is in play.
They did solve this in the U.S., called Mobile Device CVM.

Apple Pay works at participating retail stores and within apps that accept it.

No special "participation" is needed by a store, beyond having a contactless terminal that's got a realtime connection for authorization.
More than 250,000 locations in the United Kingdom support Apple Pay as of today, ...

Again, any place with the above payment support.

Yeah, pretty much this. Terminals which have explicit Apple Pay support will (likely) support theoretically unlimited transaction limits. Those which don't have the software update will support Apple Pay, but treat it as just another contactless payment, as if it didn't have authentication.

You are correct that Apple Pay is treated as just another contactless payment. There's no such thing as explicit Apple Pay support in a terminal.

There is a new standard for allowing a mobile device to claim that the cardholder was already verified onboard, and thus there's no need to make the buyer use the terminal's PIN pad (or signature pad in some countries like the US), but that's not Apple Pay specific. It's a terminal update that can be used by any compliant mobile payment method.

Contactless transactions are offline only (I think) so for customers with online only Debit cards might not be eligible; however AmEx have stated on their website re: Apple Pay even non-Contactless cards qualify for it. So I could very well be wrong.

I didn't know that if it fails to read your fingerprint (or one that hasn't been assigned to TouchID) it allows you to pay by Passcode. Entered my phone's code and came up with 'Hold Near The Reader.'

All Apple Pay transactions authorise online, so this won't be an issue.

American Express now up!

This has less use in the U.K. as most places have contactless card payments under £20 anyway (which is really useful). But this is cool I guess.

gotta laugh if the buying experience goes a little like ...

how many times will you need to use apple pay to buy stuff?

Will the UK really **** this up and set a new world standard of incompetentemce by ruining a truly great payment experience?

is this how an apple pay shopping experience will go?

Goods are £200 sir

Please hold Touch ID, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, eh and again sir, again, one more time, no sorry again, yes another...thank you sir here is your shopping have a nice day.

Trust me, I've been there. Working for a mobile network selling iPhones, setting up customers touch ID's was a nightmare, a bit too touchy feely.

How do I activate my cards?

Passbook. After that, each card usually has instructions by it on how to activate. Example: My debit card was an 800 # I had to call, my Citi and Capital One credit cards were similar.

NatWest debit added (my debit is a non-contactless too.) I need to verify it though, and NatWest's Apple Pay verification phone number is claiming to have "technical issues" right now .. grrr!
