McDonalds is a cesspool!

McDonalds is a cesspool! Who in their right mind use that hellhole to showcase the iPhone 6 and Apple Pay, much less eat there at all? !!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

Do you guys not have tap-to-pay over there? I have my iphone in a wallet case, and credit card in the slot of the wallet. To pay for a McDonald's, or groceries or whatever, I just take my wallet out of my pocket, touch the corner of it on the machine, and put it back in my pocket. Total two seconds. This looked like a complete farce.

In the US do you still have to put your card in the machine and type a PIN?
Not really. In my area, one gas station company attempted that, then it vanished. And for credit, we don't type a PIN, we do for debit cards.

Us bank states they are ready but apple is not?

My bank is stating that APPLE is rolling out banks in phases... that they themselves are READY to launch but APPLE is holding back? I hope that is not the case? I'd be mad.......

To me the time factor isn't part of the equation. The selling point is security not speed.

I just go re-issued new CC due to the HD issue. Just received my new cards and the old ones were about to self terminate when I just got a whole flood of stolen charges. Mind you, this about the 4th-5th card I have had in about 5 years due to someone stealing the number somewhere. To put an end to this madness is what it is all about.

Does McDonalds have a solution for paying at the drive-thru?

Yep, the associate will hold one of these up out the window:

What if you have multiple credit cards? You can't just tap your wallet. And no, most cards do not have tap-to-pay or "Pay Pass" as they call it here.

I think you have to make one card your default. If you want to select another on the fly, you would have to unlock your phone, open Pass and select it so not as fast.

This is just some guy filming it, right? Not a professional. Or am I missing something.

During the transaction, at no point did the cashier see Ross's card or his name, and his card number (replaced with a unique Device Account Number in Passbook) was not stored by McDonald's, keeping the transaction completely private.

I don't understand, why would the cashier need to see your card and name and why would McD see and store the code?

We should bookmark this thread and read it 3 years from now. It'll be hilarious. "You used to do what?!"

So basically, anyone who has your iPhone case can use it to buy McDonald's or groceries or whatever, and it will only take them two seconds.

Apple Pay will take about the same two seconds (if you don't stop in the middle to explain it to the guy taking video behind you, or to write a blog comment about what a farce it is), and it's more secure, since only your fingerprint will authorize the purchase.

MR don't post videos infringing on people in their workplaces. Or at least videos that blur their faces if they haven't given consent to be posted on the web.

Yes she's have to signed a consent but she looked a little nervous about being filmed. Just a little stage fright. The cashier next to her didn't looked too thrilled.

I went out for a bicycle ride today without my wallet and no cash. Just me, my bike, and my phone. Stopped at a vending machine and purchased a drink with Apple Pay. It was quite liberating.
Perfect use to buy a drink or a snack while running or biking. I hope I can be on a bike and possibly run again after a bad injury a couple of months ago.

This? do you need to unlock the phone and open an app (passbook) first, before being able to make the payment?

Yes. Kinda like pulling your wallet out. Taking out a credit card. Handing it to the cashier. He/She then swipes it and waits. You then punch in your PIN or grab the stylist and sign it. Then you put it back in your wallet.

Or. Open the app and touch the Touch ID and stand for a few seconds.

Phone Says My Discover and US Bank Visa NOT SUPPORTED!???

When I scan my Discover or US Bank Visa Apple Pay responds stating these cards are not supported. Nice
